As of now your question still reads more like a rant as a question. And bethink we are only users of Ubuntu and users on this site too and in no way affiliated with Canonical. We can't make the change you ask for, to be asked if UI changes happen. For the rest it is better to ask a single question for each. Include what you tried to make it happen yourself, browse Ask Ubuntu and you might even already find answers on how to do what you want. So since you're complaining about that Ubuntu has changed so much its best to roll back to an earlier Version of Ubuntu, thus the close. — Videonauth5 mins ago
someone might speak a word with this guy who posted that question
tried to make my comment as neutral as possible tho
Reinstalling is often simple, though in practice not always. Besides that or restoring a backup, no. Downgrading to a previous release isn't supported, and attempts to do it with the package manager are likely to fail and should only be undertaken for fun on systems created for that purpose.
In A New Hope, Admiral Motti says that the Death Star plans were stored on data-tapes.
“Don't try to frighten us with your sorcerer's ways, Lord Vader. Your sad devotion to that ancient religion has not helped you conjure up the stolen data-tapes”*

Does, or can, AWS EC2 use KVM?
Initially, EC2 used Xen virtualization exclusively.[12] However, on November 6, 2017, Amazon announced[13] the new C5 family of instances that were based on a home-grown hypervisor based on KVM [14].

There is a Python script called sedsed by Aurelio Jargas which will show the stepwise execution of a sed script. A debugger like this isn't going to help much in the case of characters being taken literally (e.g. {) versus having special meaning (e.g. \{), especially for a simple substitution, bu...
@ByteCommander you could play html files audiowise if you implement lets say a script which reads the file byte by bate and then alter the pitch of a standard note according to the ASCII value of the actual byte --> askubuntu.com/questions/977784/…
:P
if its pleasent for the ears it might be a different thing
@seth your busy? you might want to have a look at all answers given by this user, simply shotgun copy&paste answering --> askubuntu.com/users/761541/jjgallow

I *still* get amused about this everyday problem: I have 6.5 million files lying around and want to have a randomized sample, so how do I copy 300k random files to some other directory? It's not as if I have enough gargabe already…
I have vast collection of files (6.5 million) in several folders and sub-folders and i want to copy some random picks (about 200k-300k files) to a directory to make a randomized sample.
the folder tree is this (just a small sample) inside each folder there are several files

i probaly would not even do that, i just would sample from the program i want this samles for directly one by one untill i have reached my amount of samples processed
im actually going again through the unanswered que and have a look if not there is a question which could be answered. Even wrote an answer earlier on one --> askubuntu.com/a/977801/522934
wenn i call it where ever i want it works unless i have a file examle.log in the present working directory, then it fails to truncate the .log files in /var/log
So i copied over your commands, without the -exec and -delete of course, and all seems to work alright. Do cat -A yourscript.sh, maybe you have an extra special character there or something. The error happens only when you reverse things, like in find -type f /var/log What's possible is that you haven't properly added ( , maybe there's space somewhere. In that case, it makes sense. -name "*.log" would get expanded by shell
although, no it doesn't because of the double quotes
Try also to add set -x at the beginning of the script, see what commands actually run.
@Dale we're not Mint community , so we wouldn't know. But try to run "update-manager" from terminal. If it's using same command as Ubuntu it should come up
Otherwise, you can always ask a question on unix.stackexchange.com , those guys are open to Minty questions :)
And here's another bad joke I came up with: "If you put a Linux shell to your ear, you can hear Linus Torvalds swearing, Ken Thompson and Denis Ritchie swearing at PDP-11, and Bash author swearing at Shellshock"
@Dale Mint rolled their own update system. I haven't used it in a while, so I can't say much about it; but it's very different from stock Ubuntu. Either use apt from command line or use the mint graphical updater (which should be in system tray)
@Dale Hooray ! Another satisfied user, I guess :) If you're open to suggestions, try Ubuntu Budgie first, it's quite a lovely new addition to the array of flavors in Ubuntu world
sigh , the day has gone by so fast. I've like 40 minutes before leaving work, and I've only completed one video course today, plus one answer on AU. Not much productivity
Although I did contribute to Ubuntu Wiki, that's a plus.

I really don't like Linux, I prefer Windows and my plans are to become a Java Software Developer, so I don't think i'll need it and since i don't like it there's no reason to learn it. Thanks again — Georgio32 hours ago
No, what makes #illuminati_confirmed is the fact that Window's PowerShell is object oriented, they basically tried to make shell that behaves like .Net framework...whatever that means. I've been taking a video course on it couple nights ago
