take a nap or something
user136984
Yes, I think that is a good idea, I just think that once I start the nap it won't finish until a few days ahead, but I'm not probably going to be able to code this thing anyway now in my current state so maybe it's best I just get on with the resting part...
@edwinksl that kind of confuses me from time to time, but I look at it as pointers. Everything is a pointer in C and everything is a reference in Python
@Serg i once came across a nice blog post with diagrams to explain the differences between c++, java and python
let me see if i can find it again
user136984
I will go for dinner now, maybe that will give me some more energy... :)
Google , you're drunk , go home !!!! You're giving me BSDM results for "everything is a pointer"
21:18
how do you keep finding such gems lol
What's even more funny that was on a blog entry titled "Create virus in less than 60 seconds " or something
virus for windows? or for linux?
I can't play minecraft because my keyboard is not working. :(
21:24
@HenryWHHack then how are you typing
@edwinksl why not both?
@edwinksl warning says "Please don't try to run on your own computer or else it will delete all the content of your C Drive" so we can safely assume that's for Windows. Basically same as rm -rf / but in C and for windows
are there that many viruses that target both windows and linux at the same time?
@Zacharee1 Some keys are working and some are not.
good old C:/
good old days
@HenryWHHack I see everything but the letter D in your sentence needed for movement in MC
21:26
@edwinksl I would assume there's not a lot, because privilege escallation probably differ there. Such virus would probably have to be in something cross platform, like Java
Aww, that article doing exactly the same as rm -rf /
 @Echo off
Del C:\ \*.\* /y1
i am sure echo is a user, be careful with pinging him into chat ;)
Now that should be better
@Serg You have to help me without a working keyboard I can't code! :(
ping @Serg
did that ping you
yes it did
21:28
yes
@HenryWHHack how can I help
@edwinksl test
mouse over it and if it highlights the user's last message, it pinged
so putting it in a code block still would ping people
interesting
does this ping ? \@\edwinksl
nope
but it means i can't write decorators
21:30
@Serg Come over to my house. :D
@edwinksl orly
@HenryWHHack no , I'm lazy to get out of my house :p
@Serg
def f():
    print('RIP decorators')
@edwinksl indentation
**@**edwinksl
21:31
Also stray quotes
There we go !
the 4 spaces are pretty annoying
Just ctrl k it
Select all and Ctrl+K

user136984
21:32
Anyone able to help me with my JFrame detection? :D
@edwinksl use idle and have automatic suggested indentation.
user136984
I just need to check if the JFrame is currently in existence or not...
user136984
There is an isActive function but it doesn't like the default null value of the JFrame initialisation variable.
$ ping -c 3 edwinksl
PING edwinksl (edwinksl) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from edwinksl: icmp_seq=1 ttl=59 time=41.9 ms

rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 41.992/42.946/44.384/1.048 ms
21:34
:D that's me pinging you, literally
lmao
The actual command is ping -c 3 8.8.8.8 | awk '{gsub(/8\.8\.8\.8/,"edwinksl")}' , but to make it look realistic I removed the last pipe chuckle
user136984
@Serg: Why don't you use the -f option? >;D
user136984
Though then you'll have to run it with sudo.
@ParanoidPanda If I wanted to DoS him, I would, but that's not my intention here
Also . . . .that goes to google's 8.8.8.8
I don't wanna google come knocking on my door with a warrant
21:37
i just saw a typo in man ping
   -f Flood ping. For every ECHO_REQUEST sent a period ``.'' is
          printed, while for ever ECHO_REPLY received a backspace is
          printed.
"ever"???
missing y
muz file bug report
user136984
Is there a way to set in Java what happens when you close a JFrame? Because I have set it to dispose on exit, but I also need it to write to a variable...
bug report for a missing char ? maybe that's an overkill ?
user136984
Or is there another way to check if there is currently an instance of something running?
21:39
i wonder how long it has gone unnoticed lol
@ParanoidPanda i know nothing about JFrames :(
user136984
@Serg: I reported a typo in a manpage once, there is a special place to report typos to, and they fixed it about a year later. :D
same here, I've been doing mostly with cmd stuff, not JFrames . . . although the way I'd do it in bash is something like write two methods, one for JFrame and another for writing to variable. If method1 exits ok, then activate method2
@ParanoidPanda reimplement the close function, change your variable, call the regular function?
And for no reason at all: cdn.meme.am/instances/63971524.jpg
@Serg avoids some permissions headache
21:43
@Serg don't*
@ParanoidPanda For example, here is an example from an Android project I wrote a year or two ago:
    @Override
    protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
        // snip
    }
@Zacharee1 but that's equivalent as running everything as root, which is why sudo exists to avoid that . And like Seth pointed with his don't popinter, it shouldn't be done
user136984
@Seth: Perhaps... But as I am with flu right now I don't think that I will get anything working... I keep making if statement which do the opposite of what they should do, and then wondering why they don't work! :D
I'm not familiar with JFrames, but I imagine there is a similar way to do it.
@ParanoidPanda lol
char constant *ptr[] = "DON'T"

Anyway, must rest now, goodnight! :)
@edwinksl it's a facebook page, look em up
@ParanoidPanda rest well and get some meds for that bug
@Serg yup just did
22:22
Anyone try the new 2-step authentication method from google? it is pretty sweet.
new?
What's the new one?
I am a little bit lazy to learn bash now, would you mind telling me the comand I would put to run after compile @Serg ? — Vitor Costa 6 mins ago
Uh . . . OP asks how to make scripts and yet doesn't wanna learn bash
totally makes sense

Q: Can we get a timer for ban lift in questions?

Pablo I have more good rep than bad I think, but deleted a question(s) any chance we get a timer for ban lift?

if only my lower back stopped giving me trouble , that'd be great
22:57
Yay, new build of CM
Reported to work
Now I can stop using this horrible thing known as TouchWiz
Watched video about lower back, one of the suggestions was Cognitive - behavioural therapy. Yeah, right . . .Just because I think differently about my lower back pain, doesn't make it go away . . .
actually
Placebo is very effective
I doubt it is helpful for nerves and bones
@Zacharee1 s/is/can be/
@Seth meant on average, but yes
23:01
^nice sed
@Zacharee1 eh
@Serg that's what it's used for though
Like taking sugar pills thinking they're aspirin and it working
Pushing the ROM to my phone to flash it. Wish me luck

Thinking about it, I was on the computer for 11 hours yesterday, and even forgot to eat dinner. Ate some chicken flavored ramen instead at 7:30

Today, I worked with D3.js and read some.. Grocery shopped after dinner, and am doing some HW now
what's D3?
@onebree thank you!

@Zacharee1 D3.js is a JS library to create very cool SVG graphs or visualizations. Here is a sample: twitter.com/practicingdev/status/745684231490277376
