Just got a 12.04LTS server up and running and I'm using some MySQL/Apache2/Ruby/Ruby on Rails stuff. Whenever I reboot the server I have to completely reinstall Ruby, Rails, Apache2, gem Passenger and Passenger apache module. Why?

that the "Hard Drive" I used was actually a flash drive ^^.
For example, if I run "apt-get install ruby1.9.3 ruby-text-format" now it tells me ruby1.9.3 is already the newest version. When I reboot it does not, it just installs it.

but the installation still prompts. Any way to suppress this and have the system choose defaults or leave it un-configured (as I will be replacing the configuration anyway)?
