Where is the Mono project installation folder by default?
I want to add the mysql connector to this software.
How can I accomplish this?

@NathanOsman perhaps.

@TheLordofTime What happened dude?

Q: Why did the OP's user number change?

NilThis is a bit weird. An unregistered user asked a question here. Then instead of editing the question or adding comments, he started posting additional informations as answers. When I first noticed this I left a message telling him to edit the question. Then I noticed that the user number changed...

Also, I went ahead and approved this. Please unapprove it if I was a bit too hasty.

Great... I run a mock upgrade on my local machine for Django 1.4 > 1.5 and everything works fine.
Run the upgrade on my server and boom!, a 500 error.
The best part? The error goes away if I turn on DEBUG :P

Q: Offline upgrade from Ubuntu 12.10 to 13.04 using the installation disk

Alexandre P.I'm currently in the process of writing an upgrade guide for the French-speaking community, and I'm having some problems doing an offline upgrade. What I'm trying to do is to upgrade an Ubuntu 12.10 installation to Ubuntu 13.04 without an Internet connection. Now that the alternate and desktop C...

Good question!
We may have to update this: askubuntu.com/questions/39105/…
Can it be that offline upgrades are disabled until the final release?

Does anyone know how can I install the extension for pro-forma comments?
On firefox.
I'm talking about this

running them on Chromium at home, here customized company Firefox where user scripts are disabled entirely... :"(

Okay

no that's not okay with me ;)

I think you need greasemonkey for that don't you?

7:13 AM
@JourneymanGeek Just stumbled upon that.
Done. Thanks.

bad day yesterday for everybody it seems. Here we had 160% of average items. Thing is we don't work longer but have to work faster instead. Today not much better :/

Q: Are application development questions not allowed anymore?

@Rinzwind @Takkat Thanks guys but I am looking for why I got a jump of about 500+ points in one day when it does not show on the reputation page. I was having fun competing with my nemesis (Rinzwind) when suddenly I logged in and how the hell??

Competition is so good for this site :)
+500 jump: the user who downvoted you 250 times deleted her account? /jk

The best I have had so far was Rinzwind. VERYYYY tough to beat. Specially since this
Am telling you, the day Rinzwind gets a "Seen 18 hours ago" I will actually call him. I will officially call him and say "DUDE QUICKLY, CONNECT TO ASKUBUNTU RIGHT NOW!!!"

@LuisAlvarado you got 300 in bounties ;)
I was not on AU for about 10 hours y-day
I want a badge for 1000 days :(

Platinum badge "Addicted Maniac".

By the way: 2 days ago you got 437 rep and it shows on your rep page ;)

1:45 PM
@Rinzwind Dude, if you don't get anything when you reach 1K days, I'll personally give you a bounty of 500 for any answer you make, even if it says "Yes, this also happens to me" ^^

jrg
lol, i'll just delete the "Yes, this also happens to me". ;P

Hello
Just got a 12.04LTS server up and running and I'm using some MySQL/Apache2/Ruby/Ruby on Rails stuff. Whenever I reboot the server I have to completely reinstall Ruby, Rails, Apache2, gem Passenger and Passenger apache module. Why?

Did not have the guts to tell this user http://askubuntu.com/questions/282250/is-it-possible-to-have-windows-8-and-ubuntu-on-the-same-hard-drive/282253#282253

that the "Hard Drive" I used was actually a flash drive ^^.

@Travis that sounds fishy >:-D

@Rinzwind ooook.... I know it's annoying
So do we have some possible "why"?

2:21 PM
Not me D: My software stays on my server when I install it >:-D
Ok question: why do you need to re-install!? Got an error of some sorts?

No errors other than the webpage does not display
For example, if I run "apt-get install ruby1.9.3 ruby-text-format" now it tells me ruby1.9.3 is already the newest version. When I reboot it does not, it just installs it.
Same with the gems

2:39 PM
not a clue Travis. Never ever heard that this is possible.

Leave it to me to break it

:D

Q: grub2 ubuntu 12.04.2 flashing screen

user37509Okay, so I've been searching a bit and either by my lack of understanding (I know just enough to be about as dangerous as a fluffy kitten) or because I am just not searching for the right stuff (maybe a little of both), I have been unable to find exactly what I am looking for. I have a HP Prolia...

Best plugin ever for JS.

JohnMerlinoI have two seagate hard drives. Each are 500 gbs. I used gparted live to make two partitions on the one hard driver, each 250 gb. I set one to NTFS format and the other to EXT4. @TheLordofTime what do you think about this question?

can't bother to look.
too emotionally scarred by what i found... ponyfications of linux operating systems...
@Lucio VTC:NC
this isn't ##hardware on irc.freenode.net :P

@TheLordofTime So what is the purpose for the hardware-recommendation tag?

@Lucio good question. I find the question not constructive
but i don't answer hardware-recommendation questions

@TheLordofTime But do you find any question about H-R Not Const.?

5:49 PM
... i seriously feel dirty after looking at this ... I will give anyone $20 to give me extremely strong drinks until I pass out so I can forget everything I just saw... (don't click it unless you're immune to ponies!) (it's SFW though)
no, i just find that question NC

ok
@TheLordofTime I wont open that link

@Lucio good. don't. now give me $20 so I can go obtain the required substances to erase the past 25 minutes.

you're not going to give me $20.

how's your day?

got up late - lazed around...

oh, that's what i do every day

lol

@LuisAlvarado - When a user gets 1000 consecutive days they get the congratulations you wrote a shell script to log-in and scrape AU award
;)

6:21 PM
here's a question someone may or may not know the answer to: if i flash my nexus7 with the phablet ppa stuffs on LTS, do I get the raring phablet image or the precise phablet image?

there's no terminal included in the stock apps or installable apps...and i'm too lazy to ssh. i'm making a qtquick terminal app instead. it makes sense to me
@Seth i occasionally like hardware recommendation when used judiciously, but game recommendation is right out

The hardware one might be OK in a pinch, but definitely the game one.
We aren't a game recommendation engine.

I agree. I have a hardware-recommendation tagged question (someone else added that tag) so i'm a little - erm - territorial about it...

I know :P

6:25 PM
It's a reasonable question to ask I think, but I'll move along

Someone just downvoted.

I know figured.

/me thinks that might be better suited for elsewhere, not ask ubuntu

It's fine. I'm not on anyone's awesome list right now.

6:27 PM
at least you're not on anyone's "burn on sight" list

I just think the official go here for support site should have a way to find STA/Master mode wireless devices

there's a few people on that list for me.

Well, tbh, I'm not voting for it at all.. It's too much of a list question to upvote, but not badly written enough for a downvote.

Fair enough. You know the reasoning behind the question

(I don't know how the "quite" got into there at all.. sorry)
@CallmeV I think I do.

6:28 PM
It's like "I want to set up a box as a wireless access point. How do I not spend days mucking about with half-hacked drivers to get it working?"

@CallmeV Are you still waiting for an answer?

I'm not "waiting".
But I'm also not subsidizing Canonical QA testing...

So, you should close the post.

Anyone used dconf to set keyboard shortcuts?

@Seth namely?

6:31 PM
Hm?

dconf is painful

Any.. can't it do any?
@Lucio dconf rocks.

i think it can. if you know where to find the settings.

@Seth I don't think so

@Lucio I want an answer. It deserves an answer. People should be able to find the answer. I shouldn't have to buy a dozen cards to find one that works. /perspective

6:32 PM
It's not hard to find the settings....
I'm still for more answers askubuntu.com/questions/254424/… :P

right
your question didn't get so much answer as I thought that would be

Me either :(

Oh, wait, there is a new one:

@NathanOsman Markup Fail

6:34 PM
@Seth if you are for remapping, maybe not dconf

How did that happen?

extra space

@Lucio Not actually that new :P

yeah :D

I'm using the mobile interface...
...so that makes things more awkward.

@NathanOsman What happens if someone paste a not Open Source code?

You watch trollcat on YouTube.

Really? Another one?

Another one?

isn't that an IDE from Windows?

It's cross-platform.

Oh
But I don't see it in your website

6:58 PM
But the link you pasted above is from my website.

This is all I can see
only Windows there

Oh... the downloads.
That's the only platform I have an installer for.
You can use my PPA to install the app in Ubuntu.

ahhhh

I have packages for everything from Lucid to Raring.

@NathanOsman There is a lot of work.

7:01 PM
It's not that difficult with a daily recipe.

TwistLoad makes downloading large files from the Internet easy and painless
@NathanOsman May I download it for Ubuntu?

TwistLoad was the first Qt app I wrote nearly three years ago.
You are certainly welcome to download it, but I doubt it works very well.

ok
I was looking for a downloader which I can start to download, turn off and on again, and continue with the download

7:20 PM
TwistLoad could do that... I'm just not sure if it still works or not.

7:33 PM
Wow. Just. Wow.
Take a look at this question of mine: stackoverflow.com/questions/16112093/…

There was something noted on a recent question that just hasn't been bumped in forever...xdownloader i think

..and then realize that someone already asked the exact same question:
1
Q: django-compressor, LESS, relative @import and relative url()

kottenatorI'm using django-compressor + LESS. I have a problem with relative @import inside .less file and relative url(../image.png) in included .less file. I will explain. I have next folder structure: common/ # Django app with some common stuff, e.g. common button styles static/ common/ ...

I am now convinced that almost every possible question that can be asked has been asked on Stack Overflow.

there surely are some questions about how to do things with go or qt5 that haven't been asked yet...

I'm kidding... and that question doesn't appear to be an exact duplicate.
But it's eerily similar.

With what software/add-on can I view POST variables?
I'm using Tamper Data (an add-on for Firefox) but I can't see the most important POST variable that I'm sending to another URL

@Lucio GET variables?!
eek.
@NathanOsman: That's what they all say!

So they do.

well, if anyone is looking for a new WAP, I still recommend UBNT stuff over Meraki.

Signed Ubuntu Code of Conduct:

\o/

How is the new version going @NathanOsman

Good.
I've almost got it to a point where files can be transferred.
Not quite there yet but making progress.
There are (I think) over 100 source files in the new version already.
It's turning into a very massive project.

are you de-integrating that broadcast comms library or something?

9:49 PM
I've split the project into three components now - that way the network code and the GUI code are separate from the "management" logic.
This paves the way for a command-line client that could be run on a headless server.

Cool, what transfer system did you end up going with

I decided to use HTTPS. That seemed to be the best choice as far as security and interoperability.
Each client acts as a "mini" HTTPS server, responding to incoming requests for file transfers.

Will that help with firewall setup?

Maybe someone knows the reason.. What means Rosetta in Launchpad?

Translation?

10:00 PM
@mateo_salta I'm hoping the next version of NitroShare will be able to work around any firewall.
I'm focusing on making it just work 100% of the time.

@Lucio yep it is the translation system launchpad.net/+search?field.text=rosetta&x=0&y=0

10:31 PM
@NathanOsman question: have you thought about arm builds for ubu-touch?
i haz a test device if you want

10:46 PM
@mateo_salta Yeah, Rosetta appears in almost all the translation pages. But I couldn't find any page where Launchpad say something about it.
But now with your link I can see it:
A web-based system used by Ubuntu for translating open source software into any language.
@mateo_salta thank you :)

11:21 PM
I remember that there was a software in Ubuntu 11.10 installed by default
it was useful to get a trace for a specific URL
or IP
Do anyone remember the name of this application?

are you asking about dig or whois?

@CallmeV no one of both :(
It was not like those web sites that tell you the IP, browser etc.

web sites...there are loads of those. i prefer the ones that show colo-ed websites

In the app that I say you enter an URL (e.g. google.com) and it tell you the trace that must be done to get a response
the output was something like this:
xxx.xxx.xxx Sending package
xxx.xxx.xxx receiving package
xxx.xxx.xxx transfering package
etc..

Anybody know of a way to bump a question. For example

Q: How to Install Broadcom Wireless Drivers

Fer1805I'm having serious problems installing the Broadcom drivers for Ubuntu. It worked perfectly on my previous version, but now, it is impossible. I'm a user with no advance knowledge in Linux, so I would need clear explanations on make, compile, etc. Edit: For the command: "lspci | grep Network", I...

11:30 PM
@Lucio That's entirely less informative than I think you meant it to be and it looks like ping output that got translated poorly

I meant bump an answer. After merging, the answer that I was building to solve many wireless issues not got thrown to the bottom.

@CallmeV Showing a lot of servers that receive and transfer the requested package, until it reach the specific server, and then the same until the package reach to your computer

traceroute does per hop. stop. that's quite enough.
you could google for staple tools or words in output

@CallmeV Hey!!!
that is the app

tcptraceroute is way better
@LuisAlvarado i'ld file a bug on MSO that on merges high vote answers should be re-topped
if you do and ping me here with the url i'll upgoat it

11:33 PM
You guys are probably talking about gnome-nettools - askubuntu.com/questions/112403/…

he said installed by default which makes me think cli... i was thinking about a tool that isn't in repo but is better

nmap?
well nettools was there until 12.04
it got kicked out

@LuisAlvarado Yes.

because it had an affair with nmap
and had a bastard child called aircrack
who spawned ping!!

peepz should stop getting offended about tools that do interesting things. aircrack is back in multiverse btw. they leapfrogged one lts

11:37 PM
@CallmeV @LuisAlvarado thank you guys! I will install those software, cya..

@Lucio no problem, still don't know what we are talking about hehe
