@AvinashRaj read the title

@AvinashRaj: what you want will only work if the OS has some pre-ordained order of files
it dosen't. It arranges files on the fly, based off some criteria. The 'cost' of doing so is less than constantly indexing and reindexing the files

@AvinashRaj we aren't voting to close because the answer, but the question. clarify its meaning, I can't since I have no idea of the points that connect your question with your accepted answer

Q: How to deal with unresolved dependencies when updating your system?

sašoThe best solution is to use aptitude instead of apt-get , then follow the unresolved dependencies found by aptitude and manually correct them, best using Synaptics Manager fixing broken packages and forcing adequate version.

5:54 AM
@JourneymanGeek I'm not sure what to do with this, you guys like it askubuntu.com/questions/395165/…?

I see that you have 7 answers with exactly the same content. How about you do a single question and answer it yourself, then flag all the other 7 questions as duplicated of your self-answered question? — Braiam 10 hours ago

@Braiam yes I saw your comment on the last question I handled.

Q: unsynonimize cups -> printing tag

BraiamYou may ask "B-but... why!?" well, the reason is simple, not all the printing questions has something to do with CUPS (How to print to a file using Chromium?) nor all the CUPS question has to do something with printing (How to connect my samba server with CUPS?). Please, separate both tags, and I...

Q: Hunt down all those questions that has a single tag!

Braiam I created... Lies, you just used another query and improve it! SHUT UP! *bom* *bang* *thud* As I said, I modified a query in the Data Explorer to find lonely tags. You know, those questions that only has a 12.04 and nothing else. Here it's: http://data.stackexchange.com/ubuntu/qu...

Q: Creating a video from an audio file in Ubuntu?

T...I have recorded an audio file, and would like to upload it to Youtube. But Youtube requires me to convert it firstly to video. So how do you do that in Ubuntu? Thanks!

So he asked "How to do this in Ubuntu"
then, after I answer, he comments:
Do you know if there are some online websites that can do this? — T... 7 mins ago
>_>
Say... Isn't asking for an online service off-topic here?

Close votes, we are needed.

What do you mean?

..Close it as off-topic...

Well it's not off-topic yet.. since his questions asks about doing it in Ubuntu.

Ahhh
yeah just hit me.

8:59 PM
But he shouldn't be asking for a web service lol.

tired.
nope he should not.
but he is a 1 rep user. so, i let it slide.

@Seth community locked it since it was migrated, and we closed it

@Braiam I understand why it was locked, but I don't think it needs to be. It's just a little unclear.

@Seth mm... you can flag and wait... I doubt it get's unlocked tho...

@Braiam Probably not.. I don't think its a big enough deal for a flag though..
@Seth with what you "print"? — Braiam 22 secs ago
@Braiam ??

@Seth edited :(
I'm trying to use tag = program to blame, not tag = verb

@Braiam drunken reviews ftw.

@JourneymanGeek got any idea? askubuntu.com/q/395165/169736

9:40 PM
how does not having right graphics turn a game b&w askubuntu.com/questions/395684/… think he accidently enabled a compiz filter?

9:59 PM
@Braiam So when I can't print anything off my shiny new printer it's LibreOffice's fault?

10:10 PM
not every printer uses cups right?

@Seth you using LO?
I can't print anything out of my HP photosmart, and I blame hplip + cups
if I can print in anything but Libre Office, then the culprit is LO
@Mateo yeah

Q: Is it possible to print without CUPS?

dash17291Having a SOHO printer, HP DeskJet 3940 is it possible to print with lpr/lpd on Debian GNU/Linux? The Debian Wiki says that LPR. The still commonly used traditional printing system is called lpr which works quite well if you have a postscript printer. Otherwise, it is not very simple to set ...

hm, postscript
not on most consumer printers then...

@Braiam Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. But the chances are, it's the printers fault, not LibreOffices.
The point is, it's usually not the program's fault.

@Seth but then, can we tell the user to open their printers and fix the issue?
btw, my printer is nowhere supported :(
in any case cups -> printing isn't good

so, think about scanners, - do we synomize that tag to what ever linux program/protocal does thescanning?
@Braiam i agree.

10:22 PM
@Braiam No, it's not, but killing the tag completely isn't either.

printer > printing?

@Seth remember that I'm only asking for the synonym to be reverted
@Mateo yeah

unless I wasnt printing with my printer... but by then it would off topic.

please, tell me he's joking askubuntu.com/review/suggested-edits/201097 and he's not adding the
@Seth really?

12.10 not old enough for the old tag

10:30 PM
actually, a tag that change its meaning with the time, shouldn't exist..

all real old computers would not even run non eol - therefore off topic

i wonder if golden corral is serving buffet christmas dinner type foods...

mmmmm

HA! I have something better... yesterday dinner :D

yesterday dinner was burritos for me.

10:47 PM
@braiam btw how should we know that they are plagiarized?

@Alvar chech that ^

@Braiam did I approve that? I only saw green on mine...

> how should we know that they are plagiarized?
I'm trying to tell how to identify plagarized

But someone posted 3 suggested edits on the same tag so thought that was just re-edits of the same edit.

you notice a line break between "There is a" and "range", same between "You" and "can", that means the the user copied the content somewhere

10:58 PM
@Braiam That wasn't what I saw....

gooooooooooooooooogle. god.

and the second ^

@Braiam got it.
@Braiam .... And that's why alcohol and reviewing isn't a good combo!

if you see the same (or too similar) sentence constructions in google, is very likely that it's plagarized

But drunken programming is still as awesome as ever.

10:59 PM
lol

it is. Try it!

went over the balmer curve @Alvar ?

@Mateo balmer curve?

and alvar is back on my silence list. i don't remember why i took him off it a month ago anyway...

Is that the place where great ideas turn into stupid functions?
loop da loop?

11:02 PM
@Mateo ballmer curve ftw ;)

oh, peak...

@hbdgaf you have always been on my "dafaq who the **** is this person?!" list ;)
@Mateo the place you go to after 3,5 bears, but then you take one more zip and you forgot that perfect idea.
I'm at the second balmer curve now, where you had a new beer after an hour with no drinking ;)

if it's kind of a line, but it's not straight... it's a curve

more like a sinus curve that never reaches the same peak twice
you get that superhuman power and then get down to rock bottom and then new beer and reach almost that peak, and so it continues until you fall asleep.

@Braiam Oops..
@Braiam Synonymizing to is fine with me, but killing is not ok.

11:10 PM
nuke printing.

How do i change directory to a different HDD
in the termanal

is it mounted?

yes

go to /media/
my are listed there...

@Alvar thanks

11:14 PM
@qwertie np, also google is faster than asking in chat ;)

@Alvar Have a good reason too?
printing is a valid topic with many questions.

@Seth it's a problem with the printer in some way. I think it unnecessary.
But I want quite strict rules...

Uhhh.. How do you specify a question about printer problems without a printer/ing tag?

@Seth You need a printer tag but not a printing tag.
that's like having a install tag. when talking about installing.

11:24 PM
Ah, I see.
Well I think, in this case, printing makes more sense than printer... but whatever

yeah creating a link works too
It might get created by some user anyway..
it's not as bad as old-computer -.-

GAH
I'm out of close votes.. but I keep forgetting because all the queues are still open.

evening everybody (on this site of the globe at least)

Lol. @blad19899's comment. (chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/12827189#12827189) Techy/Ubuntu version of "BAH HUMBUG!"
@Strongground Greetin's!

i got a fairly specific question that might be answered by a very general answer

have you searched the site?

jep, and failed with doing what solved their/my problem

what's the question?

11:56 PM
ok, I try to compile something with cmake. One dependency is ImageMagick, which I have installed. However, the header files location has changed and cmake is looking in the wrong location, so it says "Could NOT find ImageMagick *..."
solution: cmake.org has an upstream fix listed, but I fail to comprehend how to apply it

well ask on the site, how do I install this upstream bug-fix? or something similair

ok then, will do so

add that it's for cmake.org and describe what you've tried
