This is a question about how to restart the Tor browser:
Restart Tor Browser after closing
The OP's motivation for wanting to do so is a bug. This question, however, is not a bug report. The bug is not that the browser won't restart. Answers to this question would help anyone who wants to res...
I found: "How do I escape backticks in a comment?", but I want to escape backticks, if I use backticks to format code in an answer.
The following doesn't work:
`sudo update-initramfs -v -u -k \`uname -r\``
The result is this:
sudo update-initramfs -v -u -k \uname -r``
Desired goal, but with...
I want to be able to post this as a comment:
FYI, code formatting is done with backticks, e.g. `sudo vi /boot/grub/menu.lst`.
But as you can see, it doesn't come out quite right...
@gertvdijk That's not a replacement for indenting by four. That's not about making backticks appear inside a code block, it's about making them appear outside a code block.
Estimated ISK (EVE’s in-game currency) cost in damages are still being calculated, but early totals reach beyond 700 billion for both sides combined. That’s around $24,000, depending on the value of ISK at any given time,
definitely. i want to get in to hardware...badly. i think firmware is a fig leaf that needs to go away.
can't find a good "progression" to get there though. you either got an EE degree for programming ICs and your goal is to write software on a locked platform or you're at the other end. seems to me there should be a progression.
also the comment over there --> by obfoss needs moar stars
@TheLordofTime Announcing a question that you're wondering if anyone can help with is generally fine. (Unless you join chat, drop the link, and then leave right after, of course.)
@EliahKagan, I've never used "make", etc as OP seems to have done. Is it possible that the system isn't "seeing" the program because the apt-get route wasn't taken? As I said, I don't know the technical aspects.
I think they deleted it because sed isn't the tool they need and they realized it. They wanted to replace lines containing strings, not strings as they occur according to the question.
I'm working on a script that automatically configures and installs lamp so I need to uncomment two lines in phpmyadmin conf file to accept nopasswd login via the web interface. — pyn3 mins ago
@pyn Consider using tools designed specifically for deploying applications instead: Puppet, Juju, Chef, etc. Writing your own scripts to deploy applications is usually reinventing wheels and/or axles. — gertvdijk2 mins ago
@pyn No problem. I had just posted my answer, thought I'd help you quite a lot, then was very disappointed to see you chose to delete your question along with my answer.
Hmm, I didn't clicked that button.I had to edit posts several times ( pretty bad at writing english ) and maybe this is the reason you have seen them deleted.
@pyn Then it's a mystery as to why it appeared deleted. Maybe a moderator mis-clicked the button and @fossfreedom restored this action then. Editing your post is not a reason for it to be deleted.

If you look at this suggested edit, a user has simply copied the screenshots provided in the linked post, and included them in the answer.
The answer is better for it, IMO. However, is this a copyright violation? Or is there no reason to worry about copyright, since these screenshots could very ...

@Seth well firstly to be polite: "hello hope you're having a good day and all" :) but otherwise, the file I need to create is .xmodmap right? Not .xmodmap : touch .xmodmap?

For the first time in a very long while, I saw the old-style notification banner!
For quite some time, I've seen more discreet notifications of new answers, appearing within the page itself, just above where I compose my answer.
This harkens back to many months ago.
Is this intended behavior...
@jokerdino UTT works great so far. The only thing I couldn't get working was "Restore Defaults" under "Cursor". It seems to work fine in other categories though.
After a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 my WLAN would not connect. I guess I messed around too much trying to get it to work, in any case now wlan0 is not listed anymore when doing
iwlist scan.

question about tags - I wanted to remove seemingly superfluous tags from this post but realized that they had been added recently by an "editor". I don't want to quarrel but get my bearings - are they necessary in your opinion?
Q is a fictional character who appears in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, as well as in related products. In all of these programs, he is played by John de Lancie. The name "Q" also applies to all other individuals of the Q Continuum.
Q is said to be omnipotent, and is continually evasive regarding his motivations. His home, the Q Continuum, is accessible to the Q and their guests, and the true nature of it is said to be beyond the comprehension of "lesser beings" such as humans so it is only shown to humans in w...
Oh I hate this. Put time and effort in reviewing (was really needed), but someone pressed "No action needed" and I can't get the review credit anymore!
