4 hours left... quickly changes all his votes based on random number generator results
You can't change your votes, can you?
yea.
just vote for someone else.
if I click @jrg for 1, then you.. you get my first vote, not @jrg
woah, i didn't know that.
I was thinking of joing my local user group until I saw where they meet
LOL
Join the Ubuntu loco group perhaps?
I don't want bums all up in my compiz.
proves that blender is related to Unity 3D.
@William no it does not.
I proves that you can export from Blender3D to Unity3D :)
Roland, how to make firefox use the chromify-osd thingie?
BRB
Never say I should not update because that makes it even more interesting. :D
15:09
@RolandTaylor yes it does.
@jokerdino there's a plugin and a userscript, but the userscript needs fixing I think, so you'd have to ask George Edison.
@William no....
so there is a correlation
jrg
jrg
@OctavianDamiean ok, your risk.
Projects can be compatible without being related.
No risk, no fun. :)
15:10
For example, Blender can manage FBX files (autodesk format) and 3ds Files (old 3DSMax format) - but is related to neither.
jrg
jrg
Hey, I like risk just as much as the next guy - I just want a system that works most (read: 50%) of the time.
Yes.
BTW just finished my blender presentation
taught them to make a table and four stools
and the duplicate object function
@William nice!
D:
4hrs left!
Yup.
And I have to go to the doctor. :(
Again.
15:14

Q: How do I get a Boxee Remote working?

Jorge CastroI purchased a Boxee Remote, which is an RF remote so I don't need to mess with lirc or anything like that. How do I get it working in Ubuntu for use as a media center remote?

can one of you clean up my comments?
15:42
I will look into a career of book writing.
my forum/mailing list rant made reddit and I want to use this as an example
jrg
jrg
@jokerdino Oh?
hey guys i'm trying to do some db modeling (ugh) and I need some assistance. anyone? anyone?
@jokerdino I am considering it myself, but I must warn you, while it is enjoyable - the writing part is harder than it looks.
@RolandTaylor I have written stuff before.
So, I have some experience about the field there. ;)
15:44
@JorgeCastro did Oli do it already? if not, which comments?
all of them
well, I can remove my own
Oli
Oli
@JorgeCastro What about the last comment? That's written after your last edit
jrg
jrg
wow, someone who actually cares about reddit? ;P
@Oli I don't know why it doesn't work for him
but that should be a separate question anyway
Also, XBMC live isn't ubuntu afaik
it's likely they didn't include my AWESOME answer. :p
@jrg @RolandTaylor From what I see from your response, i think we can possibly co author some Ubuntu book? ;)
jrg
jrg
15:48
@jokerdino Sure.
Oli
Oli
@JorgeCastro XBMC live is based on the 10.04.2 LTS. Can you expand the answer back to 10.04?
Ah, there was no support for 10.04
I can add that
@jokerdino hehe yep
Okay... weird issue here...
@Oli done!
I upgraded blender last night (it was misbehaving before that and I had to close it) - and I can't open the file I was working on :(
And... I had done a lot of work on it...
Anyone know a way to recover .blend files?
Oh nvm :(
the file size is 0...
and I'm pretty certain file recovery won't recover this one :'(
All the hard work... down the drain...
15:53
:'(
Hello all
Here goes... again...
@AmithKK hi read above...
anyone.. I have done the model, and i think it will serve me.. i just need someone who is 'decent' with db design / models to take a peek .
That awesome thing you said wouldn't fly, won't fly :)
15:56
@RolandTaylor Aww.. Maannn
I meant the Physics
I know...
but... it's gone :/
I should have made sure to copy the files from /tmp before shutting down :(
@MisteriousForceWhoDeletedThat File Undo that :D
@RolandTaylor YU SAVE IN /tmp
@AmithKK Blender saves backups there by default
@RolandTaylor You should change that
I'm going to put them in Dropbox and U1 from now on
15:59
Good night guys :@
@jokerdino cya
@jokerdino cya
@jrg It was an undocumented feature of RVM
@RolandTaylor I need your Vast knowledge of english
jrg
jrg
@AmithKK most of those can be fixed by doing rvm get head
@jrg Nah, I did sudo gem install heroku instead of gem install heroku
@AmithKK sure
jrg
jrg
16:02
oh...
i thought I told you more than once not to ever user sudo with rvm? :P
@OctavianDamiean Hey
@jrg Nope
@OctavianDamiean welcome back :D
jrg
jrg
@AmithKK Oh, I thought i had. :P
@RolandTaylor is a little preview of 11.10 enterprise in order for 2buntu?
Odd.
jrg
jrg
16:11
um no.
:P
It was a joke :D
jrg
jrg
lol
@jrg sure
jrg
jrg
@RolandTaylor the install process is weird btw
Whats with the "Can't find a single cloud in the sky"
16:17
@AmithKK what kind of heretical link is that?
@RolandTaylor ?
Hannah Montana?
seriously...
@RolandTaylor I know :D But I just wanted to know the usage :D
The usage is correct
jrg
jrg
Hannah Montanna?!
yeah that... stuff...
jrg
jrg
what was that linux that used wayland?
yeah...
Poker Face
jrg
jrg
@AmithKK Did you set / in _config.yml?
and then do a rake generate ?
@jrg ?
16:21
@jrg @AmithKK this is how bosses recover files:
We don't recover - we recreate. Like a boss.

Unity is so awesome right now guys...
workflow improvements - completed.
@jrg You there dude.
BBT
16:44
thanks to Octavian, we now have syntax highlighting \o/
isn't that pretty
^ Can we tell i've started playing minecraft?
MOAR BLOCKS!
I'm sorry to hear that.
@rlemon Soon you Minecrafters will have 256 blocks world height and there will be more blocks. :)
:< i'm waiting for paypal!
16:55
T -2 hours.
Ok so i'm designing this as part of the inventory / sales / shipping system..
I'm putting together the inventory stuff.. and i'm working on the table schema.
\o/
@StefanoPalazzo Typo, Its highlighting
this is ridiculous.
Compiz is supposedly more stable?!
Oh right! I should reboot.
17:03
all materials and all modules have suppliers, a module is built from materials, materials can be built from other materials. Components can be sold as service parts so need to be indexed seperatly. components can be built from other components, materials, or modules. products are only assembled components.
@rlemon What in the name of GNU is that? It looks cool
Anybody with a Phone with international calls/SMS?
i'm missing the circular reference for component_material_required.
Mate, that is pretty impressive!
@rlemon How'd you generate the BMP artz
Anyone here have any idea why I just got a flag notification for that animated 2 messages back ^^^^.
I'm not even an Ask Ubuntu user.
17:10
@JasonSalaz You have more than 10k
So, Thats your Moderation Powers
Network wide, indeed. That's a bit of a nuisance.
Where is chat.stackexchange.com/privileges ? :P
@JasonSalaz Its on your site :D
That's a bit confusing, considering I don't have 10K on any one site.
@JasonSalaz Its Global rep i.e All site rep as a sum
17:12
But yes, I am aware of the 10K moderation tools privileges per-site.
Awww
@JasonSalaz You have 10.2k network wide.
@AmithKK Please do not paste gigantic GIFs inline in this chat
@hobodave Ok, From Now I'll PermaLink
Thanks, to all three of you. A bit confusing, but I understand it.

Q: several Unity bugs, maybe common cause

Nick NolanSince Ubuntu 10.04 and Unity, I noticed that it has lots of bugs, but I have been very busy and don't have time to find and set up another distribution. I been suffering trough it. I upgraded into 10.10 week ago and nothing has been fixed. Eclipse freezes from time to time (every 5-20 minutes)...

OT
@rlemon You around?
less than 10 kiloseconds until the election is over. Anyone excited? \o/
jrg
jrg
@StefanoPalazzo wait what?!
I thought we still had a few hours!!
election ends in 2 hours grumble
I've decided to switch to decimal time ;)
jrg
jrg
17:23
@AmithKK Sorry. was busy getting food.
10 kiloseconds is about 2.6 hours in old money - but I'm trying to start a trend here
jrg
jrg
Oh. I missed the kilo part of 'kiloseconds'. :P
@rlemon Not bad.... I like it.
hah, sorry if that gave you a fright :)
jrg
jrg
you kinda did. :P
Ubuntu enterprise looks like normal ubuntu, but withs some major differences.
You guys are having an election too? Cool, we should have a party together.
17:26
Isn't an hour 3k6 seconds (60 * 60)?
jrg
jrg
@RonanForman Yup. :)
Oh 2.6 hours, I see. :D
Makes sense now.
jrg
jrg
How long until Gaming's election is over?
@jrg It ends at 8 too.
jrg
jrg
Cool. :D
17:28
So also in 9k3 seconds.
@OctavianDamiean yep, my new system is so much easier
I should really make it 2^n, 1024 seconds in a kilosecond shouldn't I
Is this your first election?
@RonanForman it's the second one
Is that the Palazzian Time Notation?
jrg
jrg
17:29
Ok, thats slick. Ubuntu detects its running in a VM, and offers to install the guest additions for me. grins
not if I can help it :) it'll be "SI-Time" (Système international de confusion d'unités)
2
jrg
jrg
its so cute watching Ubuntu do all my work for me. :P
@jrg Because it's smart. :)
jrg
jrg
@OctavianDamiean Very smart. :)
Just wish i had the time to setup a squid proxy and have dad route everything through that, then I wouldn't have to deal with all the apt-cacher-ng stuff. :P
@StefanoPalazzo heh I like your interpretation of that name. :D
jrg
jrg
17:38
If the ubuntu version of VMware view is any good, I could see a lot of companies moving to Ubuntu desktop and just turn everything else into VMs.
It is not bad.
As far as I know.
@jrg did you notice any differences apart from pre-installed software?
jrg
jrg
@StefanoPalazzo other than the installer being different, I haven't
the dash overview is differenct, let me snag a screenshot
What are you guys testing? The Ubuntu Business Remix?
jrg
jrg
yes, the business remix
17:43
Cool.
I'm not. Got 2 gb of free disk space :\
jrg
jrg
so unless i'm missing something, its running a custom unity.
@StefanoPalazzo wget the ISO, burn to CD, boot. done. :P
@jrg that looks kind of cool
apart from the libreoffice icons
jrg
jrg
its got most of the SRUs already done, I downloaded a java update and that was about it...
@StefanoPalazzo i know right?
17:44
@BrunoPereira How much did the shipping cost by the way?
You didn't give me your PayPal id yet!
@AmithKK screenshot + gimp :P
Bounty offered: How to save vmware player library? http://askubuntu.com/questions/75328/how-to-save-vmware-player-library #vmware
May I remind you of me hunting you down with my commando kittens if you refuse to give me that information?
2
@RonanForman wuddup
@rlemon How's the emoticon thing coming?
17:46
works but VERY laggy
jrg
jrg
@StefanoPalazzo Only truly different thing is its got java pre-installed.
I think it has flash done as well, but I haven't checked yet
@rlemon Can I try it out?
that sort of makes sense I suppose
@RonanForman basically the issue is each 'post' the entire page is parsed.. I just need to parse the new stuff.
jrg
jrg
Did you see my screenshot on G+ of the installer?
@rlemon How do I use it?
jrg
jrg
Its ok. :P
@StefanoPalazzo i think byobu is installed - i'm pretty sure it just flew by my updates.
if so, that'd be interesting.
@RonanForman click 'raw' to install it... chrome://extensions/ to manage it (and disable it)
@rlemon Clicking it just brings up the code in a new window.
17:49
nvm... apperently RAW doesn't do it.
i will need to overwrite the default XHR callback.
I know how to write it properly just been to busy
Oh wait, misread that.
write things properly ?\
You should make it bring up the original text if you hover over the icon.
what did you think i said.
@RonanForman ok, easy enough
I thought you mean overwriting a XHR event.
jrg
jrg
17:55
I am disappoint - there is no ssh server that I can see.
how am I supposed to administer these systems without SSH?! O_o
what systems
jrg
jrg
these ubuntu enterprise ISOs. :P
@StefanoPalazzo it has flash pre-installed.
@jrg presumably so you can look at youtube while you're at work :)
and play flash games
that's what I call "user centric design"
jrg
jrg
@StefanoPalazzo see, I was thinking it was so we could do some ancient legacy application dev. :P
I wonder
maybe there are business apps written in flash
how sad :(
jrg
jrg
17:59
wow, watching youtube through the VM is better quality than watching it on my actual browser. :P
@rlemon Can you also use this as the sprite image, so I can edit it too.
jrg
jrg
i will never watch youtube on localhost again. lol
