Probably some time around 2010. Maybe earlier. I can't remember the mathematical function I used, but I still have the source code on my computer.
It would be a lot of work to get the reflections & 3D geometry right in SVG. It can do some pseudo 3D effects, but ultimately it's a 2D vector graphics format.
The previous image is an SVG created by Python code. I just adapted my old code from math.stackexchange.com/a/1619332/207316 which solves tiling problems, but it only makes fairly crude bitmap output:
