lol Head First <Topic> books always crack me up
though they also mess my brain up due to OCD
I always go back to the previous page a couple of times just to be sure I didn't miss a funny statement or whatever weirdly placed text
I've heard good things
never read a HeadFirst book though
well, it's really well written in the way that
uhh...
well let's just say it's a living example of the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words"
yeah, that would be the best way to put it
Maps for bigger levels. Still have to make it look nice ^_^b
still loading :(
21:35
yup seeing it now
(so basically imagine when it goes into 2D. Being able to drag your mouse and look all over the "level". Cool stuff. And It's Dynamic :D)
I may even add zoom but I am not sure yet :P
so the switch to 2D is manually triggered
looks cool to me :D
Thx man ^_^b For some weird reason I kinda wasted 2 hours in coding the script for it. I made sure I saved the script in MonoScript but turns out I had to Right-Click in Unity and select Refresh. And then it started showing the changes I made.
21:39
do you add new scripts from MonoDevelop?
I got used to adding new scripts from Unity and then double clicking on them to open them up in MonoDevelop lol
No - I click Create Script from Unity and code it in MonoDevelop.
Lol but I had to click Refresh everytime I made a change. Pretty weird!
D:
yeah, I never have to refresh
I'm looking for someone that can build a program that summarizes news articles. I've seen some of the summarizers on the market, but they take exact sentences out of the article and put them together. That's not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a program that can read an article and create a summary in new words.
is this even remotely feasible?
I'd say a dictionary of synonyms would work but it would probably do a very shallow job
22:09
take your original summary that takes sentences -> run it through google translate from english -> spanish -> english. Tada! Summarizer that uses different words
Disclaimer: resulting summary guaranteed to be inaccurate
one guy placed a bid - the job has a budget of $250
I wouldn't move a muscle
Interesting... I wonder if that could be done for books too :)
it's definitely POSSIBLE
with a large enough database of word synonyms, expression synonyms and rules for applying them
@CodeAssassin there are entire online "publishers" who sell books on ebay that are just bot-scraped web pages
reworded and reformatted as a book
what you may say is not possible
is doing the thing for $250
actually, I'm wrong, it is possible
just that you'd have to be insane to do it
22:17
@Jimmy Srsly!? ._. Lol I never knew that. Speaking of reading web pages... I wanted to do something to make myself win all the races on those Type Racer games. How 2 Do?
@BogdanMarginean 250 for an application that useful? I doubt it.
They would probably do a very poor job.
"You get what you pay for - nothing in life is free" - Wise Old Man I Met One Day :P
can't argue with that
on that topic, sometimes book prices on Amazon are so weird
pretty sure the prices are just bots competing on each other
hi lich
22:29
amazon.com/Invincible-Games-Shusaku-Game-Collections/dp/… like how do all three sellers have this book for $200 new?
pretty sure retail price is $50ish
@thelinuxlich hi
Artificial pricing to make people think that 50 is a bargain
@Jimmy This book I read, by Christopher Steiner, says that on Amazon there are algorithms that determine the products price. Sometimes the algorithms get into "battles" and the price goes up.
I don't know if he was right - or totally misinformed... but that's all I got lol.
yeah the price patterns if you watch over time do seem like runaway algorithms
especially the guy trying to sell for $783.68
22:44
from my english book
I always find it funny when I get to read stuff like the paragraph on Vista Ultimate
(which gives you everything you need to enjoy the latest in music, games and whatnot)
why the hell do you need freaking vista ultimate to enjoy the latest in music
Marketing.
For the dumb(people who didn't do their research) consumers :P
the whole english book is a marketing ploy
should be killed with fire
I'm going to complain to the dean
