Writing a massive SO question with screenshots and code and proper formatting only to realise that you're an idiot and your problem was simple all along right before hitting post means that you're doing it right.

This somewhat like the rubber duck problem solving technique

@TrevorPowell Yay, Ducking the problem! As in, a literal duck. A figurative literal duck.

Ah, ahaha. :/
Got my UI working for half of all cases.
Letterbox, why you confound me so!
Hm.

I have a friend who once worked somewhere where they had a "commit bear". A teddy bear that you had to bring to your desk and verbally explain your changes to, before you were allowed to commit them to source control.
05:46
hahah, that's a first.
I'm still sort of boggling at this question: gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/49975/…
that answer looks correct
@Trevor: Why so, in particular?
@TrevorPowell I'm pretty sure both answers are correct, I mean you can implement screenshot using both those methods.
though I also prefer panda's
06:02
agreed
How do you implement taking a screenshot using render-to-texture? :)
it would still need some readback function that stalls the GPU and isn't described there
any screenshot function would probably do that but it's possible to just set a flag that saves a screenshot right before buffer swap
@snake5 Link?
to what? it's an algorithm
We're talking about OpenGL.
06:12
yep, I know :P
Maybe if that had been specified in the answer. :)
yeah, it's the RTT equivalent of pixel loading
which wasn't added there
kind of makes the whole answer pointless
Anyhow. No big deal. Just a little baffled.
:) you can go and improve the answer :)
06:16
I was a little baffled one time too many and so I'm not writing any answers anymore :P
...and now, whenever I am, it's at least not personal :P

So I was thinking.. How do Facebook games like Farm-Ville etc-Ville update while you aren't playing?

@OliverSchöning regular in-server check-ups

out of work again. Startup I'm at ran out of money.
That always sucks :(
15:17
it's expected
startup that doesn't run out of money - now that's a miracle
anyway, @Almo, I was under the impression that you were working for some big enterprise company :P

I need something to stimulate my brain for a bit... anyone have some suggestions before it turns into a puddle of goo?
although that might overstimulate your brain and also turn it into a puddle of goo
Lol I was just thinking that

@snake5 I was at a big company before this one. Autodesk.
22:42
@Almo Sucks, sucks. :( Hopefully my startup dosen't end in shambles.
hey, I have I little problem with my Visual Studio 2012. I (probably)did everything from here: ysgard.net/2011/06/visual-studio-2010-c-express-and-libtcod but when I'm trying to compile my super-uber simple code visual studio throws "error LNK1104: cannot open file 'SDL.lib'"
Is SDL in the project?
as I said: I did everything from the link
Assuming the tutorial is working then, it should work. I'm not familar with that specific tutorial.
hmm, maybe there's something wrong with my code: pastebin.com/xS1gcQiT
