@Wackidev what about creating a bigger SphereCollider and marking it as a trigger?
@WilliamMindWorXMariager how can I use OrderByDescending?
I've found it.
00:27
@Gajet thanks, I ended up using a trigger MeshCollider.
though i'm not a unity guy either :D
00:42
@WilliamMindWorXMariager It's almost done, but still has some bug fixes to do!
since my code is a mess and doesn't have any comments at this point, I don't expect you to understand anything from it.
but still it would be nice if you could enhance the algorithm and fix the bugs!
either way I'll fix them as soon as I have time, and feel like doing it.
right now if you try running the program you'll receive an exception "there is something wrong with the accepted bookings"
while it's true, in this case it's more a problem of when people are served.
note that by deleting tester.queryPrintCurrentLaneStatus(1); you'll get passed that error.
01:18
Is there any way to make the Unity Editor's inspector's font size a little bit bigger?
(Egads. The possessives are pervasive)
01:35
Note to self: Add script to objects before trying to test the script.

2 hours later…
04:01
@Wackidev You can use Physics.SphereCastAll, or a similar method from the Physics class: unity3d.com/support/documentation/ScriptReference/Physics.html.
04:22
@Gajet I don't think you can delete answered questions... You posted a comment which (iir) was more like asking for clarification. Anyway, no, I got the answer from some other place and I didn't want to start a discussion here as well, so I deleted it. Way to go on taking it personally, though. ;)

Holy moses! I understand those goofy 4D tesseract animations now! youtube.com/watch?v=AzL091mZQ-E&feature=related

any C# guy awake?
is there a way to open two watch windows in VS C#?

1 hour later…
13:47
@Gajet While VS is attached as a debugger, select "Debug"->"Windows"->"Watch", where you have the option of showing up to four watch windows.
(Note that this is the case for VS 2008)
that's in C++,
I can't fin the same option in C# environment.
No, it's the C# environment.
then maybe it's because my C# is express version :(
ah, yeah...I just opened VS 2010 express, and it only has the option of one watch window
14:48
Well my brain has checked out for the day :(
15:02
do you guys know a way to convert Windows-1256 encoding into utf-8?
user4704
15:18
Yes.
[full stop]
@Gajet I'm pretty sure you'll want this: msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/kdcak6ye
@JoshPetrie and what's that?
@JohnMcDonald my code is in put C++
user4704
Well, I know several, it would help significantly if you narrowed the scope of the question down.
and that function is part of MS manager library :(
user4704
In C++ you can use <locale> and facets, although you may not find a pre-implemented interface for that particular codepage in <codecvt>
15:25
I've got a database, some pieces are written with utf-8 some are written with unicode and it seems some are written in Windows-1256 format (I'm still not sure if there is a forth group). and I want to convert the whole thing into utf-8 standard
user4704
You'll probably instead want to use Win32 APIs; a good place to start is here msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd374085.aspx
17:03
How/when do you flag a question for migration? (to gamedev in this case)
user4704
Just use the general "flag for moderation" and type in the "other" box
user4704
some sites have a dedicated flow for selecting migration to gdse, but not all of them
17:25
Good question. So much game stuff is on SO.
So the "when" is the interesting part to me. I'm almost thinking all the time? heh
Unless of course the TRUE problem doesn't deal with game development
But then the question should probably be edited to better suit SO
yeah, that's pretty close to what I feel too

3 hours later…
20:16
crickets chirping
yeah, pretty quiet these past few days
20:32
Makes it easier to read the backlog
I tried my best keeping chat alive,
but no one was interested :(
I'm watching youtube trailers for Judge Dredd and Brave
As a huge Pixar fan, the tepid reviews for Brave are making me nervous
20:50
I'm not a pixar fan, but they do have some good movies.
21:11
it seems some jerk bought 1198 titles in steam but only played 192 of them,
and here is comments about his post:
level1paladin says: Think of all the homeless children you could have fed if not for your blatant waste of funds on games you never play. For shame!
in response McNab666 says: Think of all the hungry developers he fed though :P
also remember that Steam only started remembering hours played relatively recently. It thinks I've played DoD for only ~20 hours when it's at least 500
here is the full story :pcgamer.com/2012/06/20/…
500hrs? How long have you had that game @John?
I hate it when people say "you could have spent your money on homeless children"
or "There are children starving in Africa and you're going to throw that away?"
21:19
@Wackidev DoD is old. Almost as old as CS. I used to play it a lot, like many times a week
@JohnMcDonald DoD should be a lot younger than CS (if you mean Day of Defeat)
@John pardon my ignorance, but I'm not familiar with those abbreviations.
@Gajet I mean Day of Defeat (NOT Source!)
@Wackidev I've used google to guess the title.
@John on the other hand, is it even possible to play >1000 games at all?
21:21
@JohnMcDonald you really play a few hours a day, I've already passed 230 hours playing dota2
@Gajet oh. I usually try to avoid strange searches, though--who knows what they might turn up!
and the game is not officially released yet. :D
@Wackidev You'll likely get Department of Defence
True.
@JohnMcDonald yep, they are almost the same age.
21:23
I'm aware, I was there at the birth of both, pretty much
I tried searching for "DoD game"
@JohnMcDonald you were at valve?
On a different note, I just reviewed my virus scanner log and it's been quarantining the programs I wrote. :P
now that I dig a bit more, it seems their latest version are almost in same age, while CS was released 3 years before DoD
@Wackidev that's why I don't use antivirus softwares. :|
@Gajet really? Do you use a free scanner or something?
nothing,
though after a while windows suggested using "Windows security essentials" and from that point on it's installed on my laptop.
actually I've even deleted some viruses by bare hand (using safe-mode). :D
21:28
I've heard WSE is decent. That's cool that you managed to clean up manually.
Still, I'd use antivirus. :)
I hate most antivirus programs
WSE is okay though
IMO, one can coexist with a virus but no one can stand an AV.
3
@Gajet LOL
@Gajet no no, I was just "there" for the betas
The virus is only after your credit card password. The AV is after your soul.
21:30
Anyone remember the flashlight glitch in the CS Betas? When you were dead and floating around, you could turn on and off your flashlight and it would affect the real world
here is a how I imagine things. consider your computer being a fortress. a virus is trying to attack that fortress and capture it. while AV is trying to protect it.
having played years of CS, I don't think I ever used flashlight except by accident
the glitch was removed long before release
with AV you need to get passed many security gourds for whatever you want to do, and when a virus attacks the whole fortress starts shaking.
oh, in beta?
I started .... 1.3 or so
21:32
yeah, betas
(just edited last comment for clarity)
without AV you just surrender to the virus, there is no checking, and no fight. the virus will just live beside you.
I've only been playing CS for 10 years
@Jimmy I've never like CS, actually there are too few FPS titles I actually enjoyed.
I typically can't stand FPS
but I like CS
yeah... I can't say I really enjoy CS. I much preferred DoD, :)
21:34
never tried DoD, so I wouldn't know if I like it
the only FPS games I've ever liked (and I can remember now) were "Bionic Commando" and "Battlefield Vietnam"
all I know is I'm not a fan of any Quake/UT/Doom. HalfLife is a good game, but I don't care for it as much as it deserves
MW1/2 I played through the campaigns, and took a stab at multiplayer but it's not really something I'd get into.
When it comes to shooters, I almost never play the single-player
It's all about the multiplayer, :D
when DayZ gets less alpha, I'd buy Arma :P
22:29
william didn't show up tonight.
22:46
Weren't DayZ servers that gave the mod creators access just made into a mass botnet recently?
@Noctrine I believe I read that as well
