Q: How to randomly place entities that don't overlap?

wcarhartI am creating a randomly-generated environment for a game I'm developing. I am using OpenGL and coding in Java. I am trying to randomly place trees in my world (to create a forest), but I don't want the models to overlap (which happens when two trees are placed too close to each other). Here's a...

A: In C++, what is the difference between a method and a function

Oliver CharlesworthAs far as the C++ standard is concerned, there is no such thing as a "method". This terminology is used in other OO languages (e.g. Java) to refer to member functions of a class. In common usage, you'll find that most people will use "method" and "function" more or less interchangeably, althoug...

@PearsonArtPhoto Cool, you've put your sea trader game on the ice?

I might go back to it someday, but...
For now, I'm happy with the learning that I got from it, and hopefully my next project will be much better for it.
I haven't touched the game in a year, however... Ever since my website started taking off.

Hehe you're making tons of money off of it now? :P

1:51 PM
Not tons, but it did help me buy a Telsa Model 3.
I'm back to working with Project Porcuipine, an open source space base builder game.
A few people who hang out here have worked on it.

@PearsonArtPhoto Wooa nice move, then ;)

Q: How to write a PBR Unlit Shader in Unity?

Ivan SeidelI have a REALLY specific case here: I have an Texture (a webcam), that is used by a shader to pickup a few x,y colors at the cordinates, and renders to a Custom Render Texture, that is later fetched (download pixel color information from GPU to CPU), and I can handle the algorithm from there. T...
