@Almo Just to make sure, by this comment I meant that you can shoot yourself in the foot easily with POO, but I did not mention that it does not have to be that way. I just did not want to start a flame war over there :P
@AlexandreVaillancourt Don't POO where you eat... :P
@Charanor Holly poo! Did I just write POO? I meant OOP. :P Heh French!

@AlexandreVaillancourt yup, I did not misunderstand your comment.

in French it's POO: programmation orientée objet
but then, in French they'd just have to make sure the acronym isn't "caca"
I can't believe that they chose an acronym that is so close to the english
Er, it's not that. It's that that is how the language works
"Object Oriented" are both modifiers to Programming, in french the order of those is reversed so it's "Programming Object Oriented"
Except with french words
(also I'm sure there's a correct word to use that is not modifiers but I can't be bothered to look it up... it's adjective isn't it? googles Yes it is (I do like when I say I'm not going to look something up and then it pops up in my head)
09:53
I know french, I also know how they make up words like ordinateur and télécharger
Yeah, french is one of those languages with an official college that decides "This is how french works now" every so often
Also, then you'd know that it isn't "they chose an acronym" they just made an acronym out of the correct way to say it in french. There was no choice process in there =p
it doesn't really look that french to me
there'should be some adverbs and whatnot
why not call it PODL?
Programmation Orientée De L'objet
10:09
I dunno, I'm not french. Fortunately we have managed to stave off their corruption by cutting a bit off us off and giving half of it to them
(I'm talking about belgium (I'm dutch)
10:27
I was considering you talking about Brittany at first
Belgium is the worst word in the known Universe, so why not get rid of it :)
10:47
@KevinvanderVelden same reason we have Attorney(s) General: it inherits the French ordering, and the pure English ordering of the term would be General Attorney(s).
shakes fist in direction of france
Well at least we don't have attorneys general~
searches what we do have Drat that's even more french, "procureur-generaal"

haha :)

Q: Getting false positives with SAT

Raymond de la CroixI've been trying to get proper collision detection with SAT in 3D. I started of with this post: How many and which axes to use for 3D OBB collision with SAT. I've been trying to get the right axis to test, which I thought would be correct, but they are still giving me false positives. All actual...

That's Wii, in all 4 orientations
Hello
hai
Any unity pros here ?
Or atleast someone who is good with unity ui ? xD
Anyone ?
16:08
@genaray o/
@Charanor Is there a way to know if the body X is in the World or if is it deleted?
i know uynity, but not great with UI
you can ask though
@Curio I don't think so. Perhaps using Body#getWorld() and check if the result is null might work?
(Assuming you're using Box2D)
@TheMaskedRebel Well... i have a problem... there some differences between unity ui and android studio layout editor... basically the unity ui sucks ( tbh )... i just wanna do the following... a chat bar, where the username & message fills the whole bar. The message size and length orientates itself at the username length and size... if the username or message are too long they should use ellipses or how ever its called... here a picture
Although I don't think you should be asking if a body exists in the world or not; that logic should be encapsulated in your objects (if your entity is dead its body is destroyed and vice versa).
16:12
The problem is that I sometimes remove the same object 2 times and this causes an error of course
@Curio Actually there is a way:
@genaray Would you like to join a java server. It is where we discuss the making of my games and play some sometimes. Members also get access to my repo too.
```
Array<Body> bodies = new Array<>();
world.getBodies(bodies);
if(bodies.contains(yourBody)) ...
```
awesome
16:14
@genaray LOL i don't know anything about unity
Really ? You waved :D Thought you would know xD
I just wanted to invite you to my server
Targeted you because you are familiar with java and you are developing a game
@genaray
@Charanor it works, thank you a lot
16:33
(@doppelgreener I gave a description above ^^)
16:54
Noted. Thank you :)
I think we may have had a misunderstanding the other day and you may have thought Charanor was asking you for an invite hence you giving one, though that only clicked into place for me later on
17:25
@doppelgreener Should I make a post about SAT 3D collisions here
They have one about OBB's but that is different to convex meshes
I mean, you're welcome to ask about it, and welcome to share what you've learned in a self-answered Q&A (though I don't know which one you're considering)

Q: Axis needed to calculate 3D convex meshes

The Masked RebelI am doing SAT with 3D convex meshes and I am using this tutorial. It shows what axis we need to calculate the collision of an OBB. What axis would you need the calculate the collision of a 3D convex mesh and how would you go about obtaining them.

18:36
I swear, I keep getting the yearly badge without doing anything. Just random answers accumulating reputation. :P
Also, hello everyone.
@TheMaskedRebel Note that the answer on the OBB question already contains the info you need to extend the answer to convex meshes (ie. take the face normals and the cross products of the edges)
@TheMaskedRebel If this is something new you want to ask about, you should ask a new question, rather than editing an old question to describe an unrelated topic.
@WilliamMariager Hello.:)
hello
Hello

Is that a familiar @Jimmy I see?
Or is it a new Jimmy ...
It's been a while.

Heyyyyy!

what's going on in MindWorX land

A little of everything. Moved to Ireland, got married, new job, etc. :P
Time flies apparently

Oh man, that's still up :D
I still think about that game from time to time ...
