@Tyyppi_77 Take care! o/ Hope to see you around soon and I hope the first days go well.
(well the rest of them too, but I imagine the first days are the hardest)

Initial feedback:
- Cool animations. :)
- When I summon a card, rather than slide it out of the UI then into the field, just slide it from the hand to the field. That corresponds more to what we actually do with cards.
- Please align cards and the turn button to the top already. Please please. Please please please please please. Pretty please.
- Players definitely need to start with a few cards in hand. If this isn't viable because of being able to play all your lands immediately, then the land thing is the problem that needs to be resolved somehow. (Magic handles this by limiting you to 1

Hello!
13:59
o/
How are things here?
I don't know about you guys, but I'm not to interested in asking questions with obvious typos in the title. I mean, if you can't even be bothered to ask the question correctly, I suspect they won't really be interested in taking time to process a good answer properly.
Yeah, it leaves a bad first impression on anyone wanting to help you with a badly typed question.
I usually go in and edit those questions if I spot them (and a typo in the title really helps me notice), but my rule of thumb is also to not put in more effort editing a post than its author put into creating it (including research they performed).
14:09
I like that rule of thumb
Yeah, especially to new users. 90%of them leave SE after posting once.
@Almo You'd make an amazing first pass at CVs sent to company working for the HR :P
:D
14:29
Does anyone here use Maya?
not me, sorry.
@Almo Hey because you guys moved out of downtown, La Traite has closed.
holy shit
what a bummer they were nice there
Yeah! I liked their sub sandwiches, reminded me of my youth!
:)
14:52
So....
I don't use Maya either. The one I used the post was Blender. Which I haven't touched in years.
I used blender for like 3 objects for a prototype in 2012 or something
I used Lightwave 3d in the late 90s.
I know how to do a little modeling and animations, but am having troubles with using said animations in Unity.
hmm, sorry I can't help
we did use maya for LHH, but I don't know anything about the pipeline for getting those anims into the game
15:01
I tried Maya once waaay back in undergrad. Had a violent allergic reaction to their flowering UI. I was told they wheeled my chair away from the desk & gave me some 3DSMax to tranq me back down. I guess I survived the whole thing?
That said, what sort of problems are you having combining it with unity?
Specifically, what do you want to have a happen & what happens instead?
Getting keyframe animations to actually do their thing. I put it in the scene, and actually got one to run, but now I wanna be able to have multiple animations on the same object.
what version of Maya are you running?
15:07
Can you get the desired result on something not mad in maya? I.E. a test cube or something with animation made solely within Unity?
Possibly... I was thinking of doing what the Quake engine did (have small, simple objects compose together to make a shape and animate them)
What I meant was - have you isolated Maya as the problem? If you can get the desired result w/out Maya, but not with it, then you have zeroed in on the problem. If you cannot get the expected outcome with or without Maya, then it's not a Maya issue, it's something else.
Ok. Thanks for the help.
15:23
Making sure you have the source of the problem is important.
I put in sound effects into cognizer, and had stutters when playing them
went through a huge hassle trying to optimize the sound
finally put a profiler on it. wasn't sound. It was because at the same time I added sound, I added the score display. Changing the text field for the score was causing the issue.
Some dynamic font problem in that version of unity only on iOS
was fixed in a later version
@Almo What a missed opportunity to re-write Unity's sound engine... :P
After reading some, I think it is because Keyframe animations aren't supported by the modern animation system, buy instead needs to use the legacy one...
@AlexandreVaillancourt hahaha
@Almo Stories like that seem paradoxically crazy & typical.
:)
16:04
constructing a grammar for a script language can be quite tedious
16:45
@Charanor Let me know what you decide to go with and how it works out? o/
o/
@TheMattbat999 I use blender
17:14
@Frustratedprogrammer hello
18:22
@Almo Typos in titles grate on me too, but I try to look past them because 1. not every developer speaks English as a first language, and insisting on perfect English puts up more barriers to participation for folks who already face plenty in an English-dominated industry...
I mean "obvious" typos. Everything is spelled correctly, but then rotate is "rttate". That's just careless.
And 2. let's face it, programmers are used to autocomplete and intellisense. Posting on StackExchange might be the only time in their day-to-day routine that they need to type every letter to get the word they want. ;)
Hahahaha
While we're listing excuses, there are programmers with some form of dyslexia that just can't tell "rttate" isn't spelled correctly
I get sooooo lazy with autocomplete. I don't know half the debug commands in our game, I've just boiled them down to the minimal letter combination it takes for auto-complete to fill in the actual command I want. ;)

Every so often I fail to notice my keyboard focus is in a different document and I've added a bunch of lines of just
`addallc

`ui.relo

`nuk
`startti

Hello

How are you?
Just fine, thanks. :)

Meh... tired of seeing this question bumped...
SE can't count:
I upvoted the answer, although I don't know osg
1 Answer
it sounds truthy though

@FreezePhoenix Can you refresh?
This question has answers that may be good or bad
@FreezePhoenix Isn't there one answer?
@Jimmy Thanks! :D
it bumped because the answers were unvoted, so Community-bot wants people to vote on the answer
@NaCl Yes... I did. there is still 1 answer
@FreezePhoenix Ah, well the message is quite generic..
20:54
yes, it is.

A neat trick we use for text like that is to mark up the string for substitution as "This question has {0?an answer,answers} that may be good or bad..."
Then we use the value of the substituted integer, plus the pluralization rule for the language in question, to select the appropriate pluralization from the list.
Gives us a neat way to handle all sorts of fancy pluralization rules (like Russian) in a uniform way that doesn't need special-case selection logic scattered everywhere. :)
@DMGregory well
I think most of the SO network has a method called... lemme see
Well I found a weird method:
IsMalwareProxy // function IsMalwareProxy(){try{return window.location.host.endsWith(".softclub.info")}catch(e){return!1}}
I'm surprised that's done on client side
oooh I see, softclub.info just proxies the exact content through their site, injecting malware
so you have to insert client scripts to detect and block that, since they're probably proxying through like a botnet or something
Well, it's not my problem because I don't use SO
It seems that SO has moved their "isPlural" method to server side
Because i can't find it

Cute and meaningful?
