I mean spawning stuff like boxes and enemies
@Tyyppi_77 Make it auto-detect the entities as you add in new! :D
Pip
Pip
Nice!
@Jon morning Senor Gallant
Gallent?
idk, whatever :P
Jon
Jon
i'm not japanese
Pip
Pip
So I was correct the first time :P
@Jon WHAT
15:03
@Pip what are you doing
Pip
Pip
cleaning
nice
Pip
Pip
(heh, @OMGtechy)
Especially the things that need to be cleaned
user92578
@Hjorthenify What do you mean by that
@Tyyppi_77 what are you doing
user92578
15:05
Getting started on adding entity spawns to my level editor
Pip
Pip
Alright, seriously. You don't need to ask that every time :P
nice
@Tyyppi_77 However your entities are declared in code. Make it detect that and check for any new so you don't have to add them manually.
user92578
Ah
user92578
Yeah, hmm
user92578
15:05
I don't think I can do that in a smart way, but sure, that would be really awesome
user92578
I'll try to see if I can add some nice decoupling however that will make things easier
user92578
Just like in Java: adding so many abstraction layers that every problem disappers
You can say the same thing about gaffa.
@Pip I caught that joke :P
Pip
Pip
:D
user92578
15:09
I didn't but I want to be cool too!
user92578
MOM THE COOL KIDS ARE MAKING INSIDE JOKES AGAIN
Sweet! I've saved 1456 bytes by switching to 7z for compression :D
Pip
Pip
Nice
@Tyyppi_77 check it out, read down from here: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/23906768#23906768
@KevinvanderVelden 7z has some fantastic compression algorithms
user92578
haha thanks I appreciate it
user92578
MOM IT'S OKAY THEY LET ME IN NO NEED TO CALL THEIR PARENTS
user92578
15:12
So I'm thinking that I'll make the entity placement just another brush
user92578
Techinically it might not actually be a brush...
user92578
But I already have a pattern supporting brush selection and activation, so I think that'll be the easiest way
Pip
Pip
sounds good! Solid wall of entities!
user92578
lol
user92578
15:13
One thing I have to figure out is how do I stop the entities from updating while editing...
Pip
Pip
don't call any update functions?
If(!level_editor_enabled)
    do updates
user92578
Yeah I guess that's a good solution
user92578
I just gotta let the level know it's being edited
@Tyyppi_77 Your mom called my mom and told me i was excluding you now im grounded :(
user92578
Sorry, I'll ask her to call again and say it was just a missunderstanding and that you weren't a part of it
user92578
15:15
All tough
user92578
You're a game developer
user92578
Why do you have to leave somewhere?
user92578
UI is in
user92578
Pip
Pip
'cause he's pause for dramatic effect...... VOLATILE
15:18
why do i have to leave somewhere? what do you mean?
user92578
If you're grounded
user92578
you can't leave the house
user92578
but programmers
user92578
don't need to leave the house
user92578
15:19
hence you don't care if you're grounded or not
true
Pip
Pip
3 mins ago, by Pip
'cause he's pause for dramatic effect...... VOLATILE
but my moms gonna stop paying for my runescape membership now :(:(:(:(
user92578
Haha nailed it :D
@Volatile good! Then you can spend more time making games
Because I'm me I made a shell script to enumerate all the options for compression:
New smallest at 10758 bytes ( -mpass=1 -mx=0 -mm=Deflate )
New smallest at 10729 bytes ( -mpass=5 -mx=0 -mm=Deflate )
New smallest at 10650 bytes ( -mpass=5 -mx=0 -mm=BZip2 )
New smallest at 10466 bytes ( -mpass=1 -mx=0 -mm=LZMA )
New smallest at 9486 bytes ( -mpass=1 -mx=0 -mm=PPMd )
New smallest at 9402 bytes ( -mpass=1 -mx=2 -mm=PPMd )
New smallest at 9375 bytes ( -mpass=1 -mx=3 -mm=PPMd )
New smallest at 9347 bytes ( -mpass=1 -mx=4 -mm=PPMd )
New smallest at 9341 bytes ( -mpass=1 -mx=5 -mm=PPMd )
Pip
Pip
15:21
that's awesome
For !!SCIENCE!!
Pip
Pip
So
user92578
Is there a way to do this: for (auto entity : (m_SharedData->m_EditorMode ? m_DynamicEntities : m_EntityPlayers))
C++11 has a foreach pattern yes
user92578
m_DynamicEntities is a vector of CEntitys, but m_EntityPlayers is a vector of CEntityPlayers
15:22
Assuming they are both the same types that should be fin... oh
user92578
Yeah...
user92578
Can I static_cast the players to entities in the statement or something?
Q: Is a CEntityPlayer a CEntity?
user92578
Yes
No wait that won't work either with vectors
Nvm
Pip
Pip
15:23
I can get the parts required for a smartphone case containing a battery (basically the case goes on, doubles or more the phone's battery life, no separate charging) for roughly 35 bucks. What would you say I could sell for, if you were buying one?
Thinking about doing that, idk yet
Depends on the finish
Pip
Pip
First prototypes are going to be 3d printed once I get my printer up and running
After that... idk
user92578
pip you're doing cool stuff man
Pip
Pip
I'm really getting into electronics stuff... it's taking away a bit a lot from my game dev :P
Also...... my homework which still isn't done :P
user92578
:D
user92578
15:25
I guess I'll just dump the idea and do an if-clause...
user92578
Kinda annoying that you can't do that
Pip
Pip
that would be the easy option
god fucking damnit this piece of crap is expensive
I'm going to have to pull those tall ports off of it and (1) wire the battery directly to it, and (2) move the micro USB port down off of the board
:/
Things are not made to be as thin as I want
user92578
I'll call it a day
user92578
See you guys tomorrow!
user92578
Happy developing
Pip
Pip
15:38
later Tyyppi
@Pip cleaning right now
16:23
Today was a good js13k day, went from 11k to 9k by improving compression :D
Jon
Jon
i am the queeeeen of pranks
That's not a prank, that's just murder. You may want to hide the body
Jon
Jon
Dude, its a prank, look there is a camera over there.
Still murder I'm afraid, I know. Common mistake
16:41
So, I just discovered a bug in my A* implementation
While javascript does support the lambda like functionality of inline functions, it will not return the value in it
As in, you have to explicitly say it should return a value
A sort function with a return value works much better
17:18
Multi target A*! I don't know if this is an actual thing but it gives the correct result so meh
Pip
Pip
@OMGtechy :D
@KevinvanderVelden yes
So.... can someone help me with a math problem?
I'm supposed to solve:
Pip
Pip
(4x^2-4x+3)/(2x-2)
solution is supposed to be undefined.... but I see no way to simplify
any ideas?
@Pip solve for 0 I assume?
Pip
Pip
17:28
I don't know :/
that's 3/-2
Not "Undefined"
Alright, sending an email to the teacher.
@Lokkij signed
Very sensible
@KevinvanderVelden I sent an email to the teacher... I'm probably doing it wrong
The question is "find (f/h)(x) where f(x) = 4x^2 - 4x + 3 and h(x) = 2x - 2"
Wolfram Alpha gives imaginary solutions
wolframalpha.com/input/?i=solve+%284x^2-4x%2B3%29%2F%282x-2%29
oh wait
wolframalpha.com/input/?i=solve+%284x^2-4x%2B3%29%2F%282x-2%29+where+‌x+%3D+0
god damn links not working
