@JohnMcDonald night!
@Hjorthenify perhaps reverting the driver to an older version is worth a try?
@OMGtechy Maybe. I'll tell him to do that once the system restore has done its work :P
@OMGtechy Isn't that the case with any language?
Okay.. I crossed the line. Sorry :P
whut xD

Pip
Is having no swap with 8gb of RAM bad at all?
I can see it with 2 gb like my old craptop has
but with 8?
@OMGtechy ?
23:05
swap? Like in cache misses?
Pip
Pip
uh
kind of
@Pip I personally have it there because some programs get upset sometimes about it
@Hjorthenify page faults
Pip
Pip
thanks for the info
Ah yes.. That's the term for RAM
30
Q: Is it safe to turn swap off permanently?

One ZeroMy system was getting slower, especially when I use browsers like Firefox / Chromium and Virtual Machines. I noticed that I've got at least 3.2 GB of free RAM (using Gnome system monitor) and there was no swapping. What I did now is swapoff -a and system system performance is up by 30%. So my qu...

@Pip interesting read

thanks
I've disabled my pagefile
No problems
Pip
Pip
so
@OMGtechy do you usually go with GRUB2?
On anything other than arch, yes, but with arch I use gummiboot
Pip
Pip
That's what I usually do but.... how's gummiboot?
Nice :D
Pip
Pip
23:07
I'll have to look it up
it's aesthetically pleasing if nothing else
Pip
Pip
In Evo grub is the first option but gummiboot is marked as recommended
indeed, that's what made me try it
shit I should go to bed
Pip
Pip
@OMGtechy no!
Explain what's different about gummiboot
ahaha xD
Pip
Pip
23:09
does it support win8?
oh it looks like it does
Pip
Pip
ti?
oh, it....
mind blown
Pip
Pip
:P
I don't know know much about the differences between gummiboot and grub, sorry :) What I do know though is that it works for me, it looks nice, and I like it.
It is supposedly easier to configure and maintain than grub, although I've not had to touch anything yet.
And it appears to be a part of systemd now, which can only be a good thing
Most things I can find on the internet say "it just worked" whereas GRUB require some work
Pip
Pip
23:13
cool
anyway, gnight :D

night
23:24
Soo.. I basically wrote my heaptree
is the chatroom blocking greasemonkey?
And at first run it worked flawlessly :D
faints
Pip
Pip
@Honeybunch nope, why?
I have a greasemonkey extension on my other pc that works fine
nvm I fixed my script
still not working here though
hmmm it doesn't work on divs but it works on p tags
@JohnMcDonald Its alive!
Pip
Pip
23:28
god damn
hmmm
I can't post
if my script is enabled
Pip
Pip
So.... what are the possible reasons that I could boot into windows on my HDD instead of first Gummiboot on my SSD?
Boot order in the BIOS?
Pip
Pip
hmm
hmm
weird
Pip
Pip
23:32
hmm
so
I opened up my boot device order
I have the "OS boot Manager"
and I have "Boot From EFI File"
first is Windows
If I hit second, it brings me to a menu of the EFI files
the first one is linux, but gummiboot has no EFI file to boot from
the second is Windows, which has a Boot/bootx64.efi
holy shit my script breaks everything ahahaha
Pip
Pip
oh fuck
It seems like I should have a efi file at /$esp/EFI/boot/systemd-bootx64.efi
but I don't
oh fuck you're on EFI?
GOOD LUCK
Pip
Pip
yeah
@Honeybunch Best morale booster :P
Pip
Pip
23:38
FUCK
Okay.... just a little bit frustrated
oh fuck
It seems like I need to boot to create the efi file
but I can't boot without the efi file :/
wtf
Boot from a live CD?
Pip
Pip
okay
I'm in a EFI shell
looks like everything is missing
the thing is I need to boot into the actual OS not a live CD
Ah.. Ouch
Pip
Pip
hmm
looks like maybe I can do it
