This was an idea that was come up with by various members here, spearheaded by @AttackingHobo. Your current job is to do what I did back in July - keep an eye on things to know what the status of progress is. We've got some of the basics ready but we aren't starting yet.
I'm figuring, they get 10 days to make game, you guys get a fair amount of time to judge, but the details are still being kinked out. Hence what I figure is a good first step is to connect with AttackingHobo and just get up to speed.
I'm still going to be a part, but this time I'll be acting as Community Coordinator (and thus, in a general communication and organizational position, not just as Gaming Liaison)
So, right, I don't expect that the Gaming side will need to do anything but I figure that people should be in the know in advance rather than springing the thing on everyone as a surprise.
@MartinSojka Don't you realize? Everything is becoming Call of Warfare. In the next generation of consoles, Skippy's List will be the only applicable list.
Actually, it's "X-Com was a tactical game in isomeric view and is now getting a crappy generic FPS treatment. Oh, and same goes for Syndicate now, too, which was much of the same (just real-time instead of turn-based)."
"In other news, the Diablo 3 beta has not been testing well, so the entire engine is being re-built. We realize that this will push the release date back, but we see it as a vital improvement for our fans....
"One of the changes will include a more up-close-and-personal viewpoint, putting the player closer to the action--directly behind the avatar's shoulder. Also, the traditional point-and-click interface will be improved to handle a third dimension, also increasing the reality and 'grittiness' of the game. We feel this is what our players are expecting from us, and we are in a position to provide it."
"Since managing health potions is boring and only serves to waste players valuable time, health will regen automatically by taking cover, and after major fights."
@Tetrad I agree with what you said, debug should go into debugging. And Mod to Modification. I would have done the synonyms myself but I figured you didn't because you were looking for more consensus.
Monkey Island FPS? Is that what Josh was talking about on twitter?
