18:00
I hope I didn't build up an addiction to caffeine
last few days I stopped drinking tea, coffee and coke
and felt more and more depressed
now that I resumed the coke, I feel better
MickLH
lol
Alex M.
here's some more cheesy oldie music
►
MickLH
@AlexM. A friend of mine binged on starbucks while doing a project for 2 or 3 days
I'll call it 3 because he didn't sleep lol
Alex M.
I went to starbucks a few times but had tea each time
Lasse
binged what does that mean
MickLH
18:03
In that 3 day period he developed a severe enough addiction that he had to miss school while recovering from the withdrawal symptoms
Alex M.
@Lasse he went crazy
Lasse
oh, okay
Alex M.
on stuff
anyway for me starbucks is that place where I can order huge earl greys
MickLH
Google Images "binge"
close enough
Lasse
obsessed
Alex M.
18:04
not really
MickLH
The previously referenced FatBitch is in the act of "Binging" on donuts
Oliver Schöning
Hello
Alex M.
during an exam you can drink a shitload of coffee and not be obsessed by it
you can also eat a lot of chocolate without knowing it
MickLH
ok I've got a better way to explain it
Lasse
right
MickLH
18:05
There are lifestyle alcoholics, and binge alcoholics
Lasse
yeah
MickLH
I'm a binge alcoholic because I don't even thinking about drinking on a daily basis
Alex M.
I binged on coffee at the last party with the company employees
I promised myself I'll only have a beer
and instead of leaving it at that
I actually had ~8 coffees
MickLH
But when I do drink, it's about half a liter of pure ethanol, which is a binge
Lasse
sounds familiar
Alex M.
18:07
I drink a beer every two days or so
Lasse
so it's uncontrollable if you don't pay attention
Alex M.
yeah exactly
MickLH
Well you can consciously decide to binge
Alex M.
you do a lot of stuff in very short bursts
speaking of doing everything at once
►
that is one badass track
Lasse
my ears are ringing again
not because of that track
damn this tinnitus
it's never quiet in my head :(
Alex M.
18:09
uh right so I thought getting fat was my only problem but uh
last time I had to go to the store and it was raining
so naturally I started running
but I ran for like 30 seconds
then felt like stopping
if I don't do something I'll become a ruin lol
Lasse
8 years ago I could run 10km straight
now I can't run for 30 seconds
Alex M.
shit
I must work out
otherwise I'll become a Lasse
Ali.S
@Lasse run?
Alex M.
thanks for the motivation :P
Ali.S
as in how fast?
I could speed walk about any distance.
almost 6km/h
Lasse
18:12
not sprinting speed of course
but run, not walk
I don't know how fast that is
Ali.S
but running is a whole different level :|
Alex M.
it's usain bolt fast
Ali.S
6km/h is as fast
almost
no one can walk besides me ...
Lasse
►
running is little bit faster than that
Ali.S
that's why I was shocked
Lasse
18:13
that's just speed walking
Alex M.
what a retarded sport
Almo
I wouldn't put it that way, but I think I share the sentiment.
Alex M.
it's especially funny because of the women
they look like they're trying to sprint with a cock up their ass
MickLH
lol
Almo
it does require really weird leg/hip motion to speedwalk
so who is checking to disqualify anyone who does a "run step"
Alex M.
18:16
no one speedwalks faster than me when I'm late for an exam
jk
Almo
or do the shoes have sensors, and if at one point both aren't firing, they lose?
Alex M.
my secret is actually that I don't wait at red lights
MickLH
@Almo that seems like a legit definition
They should just call it high stability running though
Almo
:D
Ali.S
(silently changing the topic)
I'm wondering how are we able to ping @pip, if he's not in room, and autocomplete doesn't suggest his name?
Lasse
18:19
I think it works, just use @Pip
MickLH
Yeah I think you just did lol
Ali.S
@pip, are you pinged?
MickLH
But maybe you can reply to his starred message
That's gotta do it
Alex M.
he is not pinged like that
you have to reply to an existing message
MickLH
Dragon
Lasse
18:20
well that's weird
Ali.S
@AlexM. I thought so
Alex M.
I am so efficient sometimes
Noctrine
@Pip is gonna be confused with all these pings he's probably getting
Alex M.
don't worry, I'll make sure he won't bother checking them out
@Pip let's engage in hot steamy sex
Ali.S
@Noctrine I'm pretty sure @pip won't get any pings
MickLH
18:34
Man everything counts now, it's such a close race
Ali.S
@MickLH which race?
MickLH
Does @Pip immediately abort because of @AlexM.'s message
or does he see the one above it explaining why, and become even more curious about what they are trying to hide
Alex M.
he'll have an abortion for sure
ba dum tschh
uh there was this neat 3D house maker on linux
I forgot its name
basically it let you place walls and furniture in a 3D world
MickLH
I had one of those a long ass time ago for windows called Punch Pro
Alex M.
I was wondering if there's anything that runs in a browser
and does the same thing
Ali.S
18:38
@AlexM.
sweethome3d
?
Alex M.
yeah that's the one
Ali.S
viva google!
Alex M.
found roomsketcher
but it's not exactly the same thing, seems to be 2D only
nvm
it's actually good
Ali.S
@AlexM. this room is awesome
Alex M.
of course it is
I talk in it
Ali.S
18:40
I did something a year ago, and explained it here
I've been trying to do the same thing for about a month, without any success.
and today, I just found out this:
chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/10909032#10909032
magically everything started working, without me doing anything special
I guess my computer just remembered it had done the same thing, so it could do it again :P
Alex M.
wat?
oh
so this was some sort of history
okay
Ali.S
history? it just happened an hour ago :|
Alex M.
you lost me then
Ali.S
okay let me start over
about a year ago, I fooled nokia, to think I was downloading maps from netherlands.
fooling was the important part, since I can't download them from iran
downloading from iran, will result in "error 403:forbidden"
Alex M.
and today you wanted to do the same thing
Almo
18:47
do you guys look at the keyboard when typing?
I've noticed a lot of programmers do
I don't
Alex M.
and the fact that you explained it a year ago here made the chatroom act like some kind of history
Ali.S
I hard-reseted my cellphone, so I needed to download the maps again
MickLH
@Almo sometimes I look at the keyboard in between long periods of typing lol
John McDonald
@Almo I used to, but I've been working hard to stop myself from looking
Ali.S
@Almo sometimes, but sometimes I don't even look at monitor
Almo
18:48
hahahah
MickLH
never while actually typing though, if I even notice the keyboard while typing it slows me down
Almo
heh
John McDonald
I even scrambled my keys for ~ a month so that looking at the keyboard would be useless
MickLH
It's like gaming to me lol, I have to forget my body and just put character codes directly into the computer
At least, to achieve beast mode anyways
Ali.S
@JohnMcDonald I remember once I sat behind a keyboard with scrambled keys
I couldn't type, until I turned off the lights
MickLH
18:49
Also, the specific sequences you type often in C++ are burned in about 100x harder for me
John McDonald
I just scrambled the caps
Almo
:D
MickLH
I have superhuman WPM at typing int main() {}
Almo
hahha
Ali.S
@MickLH nope, I don't
but I've got super human power, almost typing everything with same speed after I first think about the code design
let's say it takes about 5 minutes to first figure out what I want to type, and then I type 100 lines non-stop
maybe with constant speed of 50-60 wpm
MickLH
18:52
That's a good solid way to do it, some of the best programmers I know do that
Jovito
@Lasse which x and y were you referring to before?
Lasse
the ball's x and y
Jovito
the vector components?
Lasse
it's position yes
Jovito
but it's position is calculated like rect.move(self.velocity.x * dt, self.velocity.y * dt)
Lasse
18:54
you wanted it to circle around a point
Ali.S
@MickLH well, but it kinda depends on what I'm going to write too
Jovito
yes?
Ali.S
if it's the hard problem solving type of code, I do erase a word or two after typing each line
Lasse
that's what it does
MickLH
@Ali.S The way I put code on the screen is super non-linear
Alex M.
18:55
Lasse
if you want to move the point you can do that by adding some vector to it
Alex M.
man an office like this would be pretty badass
MickLH
I probably press as many arrow keys as I press letters :P
Jovito
@Lasse ok, but is x and y the components of a new vector or what?
Alex M.
with stuff placed in containers placed on the tables
MickLH
18:56
and I'm probably holding shift 1/4th of the total time I spend coding
Alex M.
and an arduino minion programmed to bring you stuff you ask for
Lasse
it's the new position of the ball in relation to the point of which it rotates around
Ali.S
@MickLH yep, copy-pasting is just way too convenient to forget
Jovito
@Lasse that's what I don't understand, what's the point? you only gave me totadistance which is the lenght of a straight line between the ball's past pos and next pos
Lasse
no
Ali.S
18:59
@MickLH the one thing I really enjoy while typing is when I type persian.
