23:00
Fuck this, I can't believe I'm even having this conversation
me neither
@AlexM. I bet you learned to program because somebody told you to.
not really
I learned to program because I had a community expecting MODs from me
Hey hash, dont get mad. He just has an opposing opinion, and its totally an okay thing for him to have
There is some merit to what he is saying
@AlexM. how do you know he is not going to use the skills he is learning now? who the hell are you to know that?
23:00
Welcome to the internet
So take that and move on if you dont care much for it
I don't mind him having an opinion, but it bothers me when he glorifies his own opinions
@Lasse lol dude I just said he's going to use Git's command line for sure
I just argued about his aim
And he backs it up with 'facts' when he's really just speculating
Trust me, Alex isnt so bad. You have not seen the software industry yet :)
23:01
This is a stupid thing to have a large argument on...
lol of course I place my opinions higher than yours hasherr
because you know they're mine
in an argument, unless proven otherwise, you are wrong and I'm right
it's the nature of things
@AlexM. I think your opinions suck, in general. Almost all times.
that's fair
it's also in the nature of things
I mean you're an arch linux user having a wallpaper that consists of 4 terminals
HOW COULD YOU NOT DISAGREE WITH ME
the windows 8 user
lol it's not wallpaper, I use all of the terminals
Currently I got only two of them
I rebooted a while ago, which is why I have so few
I know, I called it a wallpaper to emphasize the fact that they cover up your screen
23:04
But I can see the wallpaper thru them
Are you calling unity editor to be your wallpaper too?
it was a metaphor damnit
A bad one, it seems.
not exactly
it's just a very basic metaphor
... provided you actually read some !technical literature
Why is everyone so argumentative today
Because having an argument is fun, and good way to procastinate
23:06
it's worse when I'm getting ready to call it a day and go to sleep
because I'm technically not procrastinating
I regularly argue with Lasse and hash
mainly because they lack tact, just like I do
You are procrastinating on calling it a day
I'm looking at Dean's messages towards me and how !argumentative they are
I prefer debates.
I'm procrastinating on my homework by reading these pointless arguments
I just can't even argue with him, the best I can do is "your opinion does make sense"
@hasherr you can't do a proper debate, you like to argue with me
23:09
@hasherr This whole argument thing has been on the internet ever since the first mail list flame wars
That's why I said earlier, Welcome to the Internet
debates are held by people who know how worthless arguments like this one are, and never participate in them
so, sorry @hasherr, you just think you prefer debates because it makes you look hrdcr
@ChristianCareaga I completly missed that, while being busy arguing, I saw it now :D
Haha arguing, distracts people, I understand haha
@hasherr how many people have downloaded the game?
9 total downloads
23:13
post it on reddit
I bet you'll get over 9000 downloads then
Yeah, share it around!
Where should I post it on Reddit?
EVERYWHERE
I don't know if people will like me advertising a flappy bird clone :(
Start up a new subreddit with a topic "post your first games here"
23:16
Be proud, who cares what people think!
@ChristianCareaga ... someone who wants people to play his game? :P
time's up, I'm outta here
@AlexM. You don't seem to know anything about marketing
Only thing you need is publicity
k bro
at least I know what the addition operator is called LOL
Some people will like it some people wont, that's the way the world works
you can't know until you try
Think rebecca black's friday for example. It was a really crappy tune and still it got millions of views
23:18
marketing is out of my area of expertise
Just because it got public
can't say the same about you and operators tho
cya
@AlexM. Every time you use that, the smaller man you become in my eyes.
I don't think I'm ever able to think highly about you
And I bet I'm not the only one, not just because of that stupid thing
23:21
Lasse's finnish is coming out
@hasherr It's there always, it doesn't have to come out :P
Close-minded he is.
23:36
@Lasse My father works with Finnish people for his job sometimes. He likes them because they're so direct.
You guys don't bullshit around with your feelings.
That has it's pros and cons
Every culture has pros and cons.
How are finnish girls?
I don't know how to describe. They are finnish?
Sounds good enough to me
I went to a job interview yesterday. I actually enjoyed it.
What's there not to enjoy?
23:41
Well, you know kids my age. They dread everything.
I had a good time talking with the owner and stuff, though.
He seemed really interested with what I had to say, which is good.
finnish girls are usually pretty awesome.
They always are interested in interview situations
Lol, this was my first interview. Maybe I'm just overly excited :P
So I found a subreddit called /r/PlayMyGame, but something about it tells me that they don't like flappy bird clones
So I'm not going to post it
So far I have found that libgdx source is the best documentation
And damn it's weird
public Vector2 div (float vx, float vy) {
	return this.scl(1 / vx, 1 / vy);
}
What is the point in this? Why just don't do x = x / vx
Also, java passes the value, not the reference because float is a value type
I can imagine how that slows stuff down
If used a lot
Well, not that much
Not more than passing object
But still, wtf?
Why first do a division and then a multiplication, when you get the exact same result by just dividing
its possible this.scl is able to take advantage of SSE / intrinsics
but mostly. thats pretty wtf
probably seemed like a good idea at the time
23:54
@Lasse What are you on about? ;o
I'm making my TD game
And I just sumbled upon that while searching for how stuff is done in libgdx
@Lasse In C++ a multiplication is like 88% faster than a division.
Yes, but in this case you do the division anyway
Yes, but I would assume that is there if you and to divide multiple variables by the same division.
In that case a division and then multiplication is an acceptable thing.
c++ doesnt really have much to do with it ;)
23:57
What doesn't have much to do with what?
public Vector2 scl (float x, float y) {
	this.x *= x;
	this.y *= y;
	return this;
}
It just does not make sense in this case
multiplication / division
Alright, thanks to Dean I've now got a semi-solid grip on Git
Yeah, that doesn't make sense, @Lasse
23:57
That's effectively x = x * 1 / vx;
What do you mean? @MattD
Libgdx seems like a horrible thing. ;o
if you ask any language to do A = B / C , they will most likely emit the same instructions. the performance of POD such as maths, is limited by the CPU's implementation of arithmetic rather than something language based.
POD operations, even
Hmm? I thought it was based on the compiler optimisations.
