BOW dumDumDumDumDumDumDum ChChDumDumDum Ch-Ch-Ch-DumDum BOW dumDumDumDumDumDumDum ChKChK DumDum ChChChCh hourmWOP!
I am stepping the dub, you see.
Jon
Jon
in before the bass drops.
whats the solution now?
Listen to old-ish excision stuff I guess
Jon
Jon
12:01
Get rid of the red.
I mean nobody else gets the "hourmWOP!" quite right
I miss when Datsik and Excision were butt buddies, if they had someone to do the Ch-Ch-Ch's there would be no more room left for music in this world
@Monica, you are using the API incorrectly, IMHO! You need to specify how many rows and columns of sprites are there in your image. How else would it be able to animate them otherwise? Also, see the method sig/docs, ".., 10, 10" that is not rows and columns. My source of info: raw.github.com/nicolasgramlich/AndEngine/GLES2/src/org/…
that is all i was able to figure out. I haven't used AndEngine, so i could be wrong!
/me shuts up
hm "/me" isn't supported here :)
@radical hey thats what i mentioning 10 10 that means 100 images
but the parameters for which you are specifying 10, 10 are actually position in the atlas, where the image would be placed. AFAIU! See the doc or the code
noooooooooooo
u r making stiuation so complecated
leave it
i m will handle
thanks again so much for help
12:07
hahaha
Jon
Jon
dude, you didn't even get her number
bro it's not worth it
that's the kind of crazy you avoid, you can see it in their eyes
hehe :)
god damn that screencap enrages me so FUCKING MUCH
eyes full of red...
but only because the close button is on the wrong side
I don't want to go to top left to close, it feels so far away ;(
@Jon, your game, Inifinidrill, looks nice!
Jon
Jon
12:13
I think all serious developers are crazy.
*infinidrill
Jon
Jon
@radical ah thanks -- its been put on hold for another project actually :)
Jon
Jon
It is overly ambitious for a single person to make..
Good luck! What is it about?
Jon
Jon
12:15
You and your crew crash landed on a planet. Your quest is to find your crewmembers, and re-assemble your ship to escape.
The world is seamless and infinite... which creates some obstacles when you are trying to define regions in your world.
okok
Jon
Jon
I mean, I am going to return to it for sure.
But I think I need a new plan of approach... to trim some of the work involved.
What are you working on?
um game related, just my engine. Though, I haven't had a chance to hack on it for some time. Hoping to attempt some small game, soon-ish :D
Jon
Jon
I was working on character movements when I stopped
awesome!
12:21
that looks great!! you did the artwork?
Jon
Jon
No! I did not.
I found this amazing artist.
So, we put this game on hold, and started working on another one together, hehe.
hehe :)
I'm actually trying to achieve the same thing as you posted :)
Jon
Jon
I wrote a pretty sweet Tilesheet manager
Without it, all these animations would be insane to manage.
What are you writing in @MickLH
C++
Jon
Jon
12:24
Using any libs?
It's a bit crazy in 3D, I've been grinding away at the curved volume extrusions a while now, and the logic's hard to get right too
Jon
Jon
sdl ? sfml
OpenGL, Bullet, Assimp (optional), SDL_image (optional), DevIL (optional)
Jon
Jon
nice
actually Bullet is optional too, but the core demos don't work without it
Jon
Jon
12:25
bullet is the collision detection system?
any screenshots/videos?
It's the rigid body physics system
Jon
Jon
ah, i found it.
Collision detection for players is using raytracing
Jon
Jon
yeah, remember reading about it a while back.
Screens???
:)
12:26
@radical I just posted one earlier, I finally got it to work on windows again the other day
Jon
Jon
What's it about?
sorry no good screens, it's all programmer art
i can relate to that ;)
Well I'm not making the game yet, it's a zombie survival thing
But I have another project of "everything else" that I'd like in a game that wont fit, the engine is general purpose
Jon
Jon
I love it in here. People in the "real world" typically just pitch me their ideas.
And want me to do all the work... Here, people make their ideas happen.. its magical
12:30
I also have some crazy dream of making an easy-to-use toolset
There really isn't one for open source yet imo
Jon
Jon
Unity ?
Open Source, it is not though.
Nor does it qualify as easy to use by the definition im shooting for
As soon as I reach the first milestone, I'll release everything
Probably the biggest difference is that it works in Bodies and Materials, instead of Meshes and Textures
There's no custom shaders allowed at the artist level, although a programmer can define a lighting model by implementing it into the source code
I've implemented all the normal lighting models that 3d packages use
Oh, derp the point was that a Body can be a Mesh, or a small grid of voxels, or even F-Rep
The engine manages creating runtime data and LOD information, as well as approximating physics meshes
although if you make a pile of rocks, you better make sure they are convex, or you better set the maximum LOD on them by FPS
same deal with images also, if you apply a vector image to a plane, it will render the polygons directly
but that might not be ironed out for the first milestone
sounds interesting ..
Jon
Jon
Yeah. As long as you have good documentation :)
12:45
I plan to have some friends help me document it, I've got a group of total newbie friends who want to make an FPS game kinda like Halo / Half-Life, I'll bite the bullet and help them through it, and record the process to hopefully end up with documentation that a normal gamedev can use
I just hope they hold up their parts, only 2 of them seem to actually be making any progress getting good at their 3d tools
hey
jgallant :D
sup @MickLH, @Jon
Jon
Jon
sup dude
hey
what's happening?
@Jon working on school and programming today
Jon
Jon
should be working. watching videos.
12:56
still have homework
:P
lol
it is magical in here, @Jon <3
I'm so glad I quit school (not recommended!)
Jon
Jon
It is haha
@MickLH what did you do?
12:57
Today or the school thing?
also, what's your current job?
I currently work as a lover
I rely on humans who love me to keep my body functioning
hm... interesting :P
Jon
Jon
12:59
lol
Which brings us back to the point, why you so happy you quit school?
Because I truly enjoy life now
I sit at home and do open source / drugs / fuck all day and then move to another country
drugs..........
*not recommended
I've actually been off drugs a while now
I think a month or two, except caffeine and alcohol and human hormones
good for you :)
caffeine and hormones are okay, but not hgh :P
I don't really do any crazy shit, alcohol is by far the worst drug I'd do
13:02
*human growth hormones
@MickLH :)
and I meant human emotion hormones :P
I've tried beer and wine before, wine is okay, but beer I hate
lol
lol I'm considering a beer right now
but it's because I'm refactoring
wine
go get a white one
bro I've got these tall cans of this 9% shit that actually tastes decent
Jon
Jon
13:04
if you code while drunk, make sure you have a version control system
14
hahaha yeah definitely
Jon
Jon
Oh man... I bought this 10% beer, it was so thick
it's a lottery
Jon
Jon
13:04
You think you are chugging it, but then you stop, and there is more than when you started.
hahahaha yeah bro thats the puke
Jon
Jon
Lesson learned, don't go higher than 7% on beer.
I think really it's the right time for a beer though for me, I keep procrastinating on other code because refactoring is so boring
I just need to fucking sit here and copy paste
doin it!
Jon
Jon
treat yourself.
lol feels weird, I've never stack network'd drunk
TIME TO DRAIN ALL MY REP SON!
Jon
Jon
13:07
drink fast
SHUDDER UGGHHH
33%
50% fuck this
its a tall can, that counts as a beer
6 typos in a row... I swear I'm not this drunk yet... oh yeah danish keyboard
13:31
PIP DONT DRINK GOD DAMNIT!
Some people like the way it feels, some people want to KILL their sorrows, some people wanna fit in with the popular. Then what's my problem?
@MickLH You are the problem..... go finish school.
I'm serious
13:46
pip.
im here. you dont need to tag me
lol
editeditedit
so
what were you studying to be in school?
Jon
Jon
A boss.
haha
13:47
hey lmo!
dammit
sorry Almo
:D
you can use the uparrow to fix those you know ^_^
i know :P
@TheProgramm3r That's a great question, I dropped out in the 5th grade
I always loved computers though, I guess that ;)
:D
It's illegal to drop out before the end of high school in the US
Yeah I showed up
I just spent my time in class meeting people and never turned in homework unless it was fun
13:51
:P
Honestly, you can call me crazy all you like, aliens taught me everything I'd ever be good for by the age of 3
you're crazy!
That's healthy
The views expressed here are those of the author but do necessarily reflect those of another organisation.
14:07
where is everyone? Actually coding?!??!!!?!??!?
yeah
Jon
Jon
yesh.
wow
stunned
Jon
Jon
Heh, game ain't gonna release itself.
:D
you could have it write a script to do that @Jon :D
Jon
Jon
14:14
that would be a pretty complicated script.
yep, but it would be possible :P
um
what is that?
Jon
Jon
coding in mspaint.
wha?
so confused
TONY THE PONY
@Almo adarkroom.doublespeakgames.com
I know about that.
I just haven't finished it :(
@Jon OK OK OK delete this shit LAG DEMON at least on chrome...
Jon
Jon
14:19
actually, it lags me out too
its a laggy gif.
submit it to google as a testcase
it lags everyones shit, even on IE, as if IE could lag more than IE
it didn't lag Firefox <3
1 hour recap to aid in critical thinking: what have I completed? one tall can and one more C++ class
Jon
Jon
sweet.
I'm gotta make an enemy follow a path now.
here's a good programming game -- everytime you knock something off your todo list, chug a beer.
at this rate it will only take me lethal alcohol poisining to finish my game!
Jon
Jon
14:24
The trick is to keep your todo list very simple: 1. Create a Position variable.
hahaha
about that...
hey look, my drunk class is even const-correct :D
Jon
Jon
i'm sure everyone saw this
We all knew that's how it happened. RIP
Jon
Jon
Astonishingly, those in the drinking group averaged nine correct questions to the six answers correct by the non-drinking group. It also took drunk men 11.5 seconds to answer a question, whereas non-drunk men needed 15.2 seconds to think. Both groups had comparable results on a similar exam before the alcohol consumption began.

14:29
and it's explained by the egos not-giving-a-fuckness to accessing the infinite data of the universe setting in faster than than drunk bitch syndrome, due obviously to the access to the infinite information of the universe and egoic drive to be "better"
@Jon he really is drunk :P
Jon
Jon
he is nearing ballmer's peak
the key is making a commit before falling back out of it
Jon
Jon
haha
bleh
I'm refactoring my code to include a state machine T__T
taking forever
14:36
worth it!
I ended up with an entire new class out of refactoring and now my code isn't disgusting
Don't be afraid to change everything!!
Hi everyone!
hey tim
14:37
not high actually, drunk this time, sorry
I'm hoping to make a new game soon
nice work
@Timtech story of our lives
@TheProgramm3r Yeah. Well I already have part of it :)
@MickLH also have to implement my new turn system while doing this -_-
@Timtech so do we all :P
14:39
:D
Okay
Well I'll tell you when I get it done :)
I'm releasing an in app purchase soon :)
@TheProgramm3r don't do that
@Almo is one of the only people who actually ever released a game
why @MickLH?
14:39
WAIT
@TheProgramm3r refactor first, then your new turn system will be much easier to write
that's the point of refactoring
I"VE ALREADY RELEASED GAMES!
:)
Don't forget Josh
and also @Almo is definitely not the only oen
14:40
true
yeah
he's just an apple fanboy so he brags about it too much
i know "one of the only people"
:D
14:40
Yeah look under video games here timtechsoftware.com
Apple does need games desperately though
So big ups anyways!
@MickLH the point of this was to clean up the code I don't need, while implementing the new turn system, which uses a state machine as the base
@Timtech cool
@TheProgramm3r thats separate tasks
@MickLH Thanks
Oops wrong one :3
@TheProgramm3r Thanks :)
CENTER THE TEXTELEMENT DAMMIT
:(
14:41
:P I was a bit paranoid that your website exploited this windows PC within the seconds I had it open and was monitoring me :P
not really...... the code that I don't need i will need until I write the state machine
My website?
yeah, when you thanked me
it was seconds after your site loaded in the other tab
Uh
Waat?
nevermind
14:43
Yes I do have 24/7 Live Monitoring :0
/MickLH puts away his past
@Timtech Python <3
that's what I'm using right now
14:44
for my game prototype
you know what's screwy... is AWK.
@TheProgramm3r pleeease try assembly one day
@MickLH maybe sometime
i used it in combination with bash scripting to make my Javascript obfuscator in 2000
for the TI-84 Silver that I'm getting for school soon @MickLH
14:46
@TheProgramm3r The hard part is bending your algebra into the way a computer wants it
You've done that already, it's only like 5% further to unlock all programming languages
Jon
Jon
assembly for logic chips :)
And then magically your 1337 skill gets boosted, and the programs you write after that grind more skill for you since you write them at higher 1337ness
Jon
Jon
In college, i managed to control a serial port to rotate a electric motor
the power coming from the serial port
14:48
that's fucking gangster, do you mean parallel port?
Jon
Jon
no serial
old school
that's fucking ridiculous, did you use baud to do PWM?
Serial is ooolllddd
My games still support it though :)
Jon
Jon
lol, it was essentially some hardware intercepts, sending out electrical pulses to a motor, to the motor specifications.
it turned 5 degrees at a time
its simple robotics
14:50
wow
I miss robotics like that
Jon
Jon
you can also program a PLD to do it
this week has actually been about 800 posts less than usual... even when people have time off this week...... wow
I got to go to UC Davis for a month in an experimental program when I was in the 8th grade, that's the kind of stuff we did
Jon
Jon
yeah, if you find a good college, you can learn to do this
although, i was doing this on my own time in the lab
14:51
Sadly I was only one of 3 that didn't piss off the professor so the program got shut down
He was a elitist prick a bit though
@MickLH hey.... what about dropping out in 5th grade?
bbiab
Remember, it's illegal to actually leave
I had to sit in class until 12th grade
Jon
Jon
the craziest thing I ever did, was reflashed a bios
they had a bios flashing machine
i mean, how can you not play with that.
dude you gotta mention, out of system
it's WAY COOLER out of the mobo
Jon
Jon
I rewrote an old PC's bios (these are the chips that used to be removable on mainboards), to play Happy Bday
when the PC was turned on
14:54
they aren't removable anymore?!?!
Jon
Jon
They are.. but good luck
pfft soldering iron doesn't count
Jon
Jon
before, you could just pull them out... now they have the flash backups, and they are soldered right on the board
and that's gay. fuck peoples dumb
What if I want to install SeaBios without reverse engineering my mobo's flashing program, and I have EEPROM tools ;(
Jon
Jon
lol no idea, that was a long time ago.
things have changed.
14:56
Seriously, fuck man I'm too drunk for this, I'm about to cry about the NSA microcode built into the CPU itself in this machine I'm on
I'm not even in the USA?! what the fuck!
oh well, back to MeshTool::*() :D
Jon
Jon
yay
path movement working pro
lol, nope.
lmao
tsss silly noob *builds code FUCK!
Jon
Jon
ahh, i see the problem
