@TIPS I have a _feeling_ that @rg255 is onto something with the tag providing a bit of a get out of jail free card regarding effort. I think that's a different problem to the physics, chem, math homework problems which are generally about sheer volume of low effort questions. Here the problem is that we're finding it hard to get a clear cut way to identify a low energy-input, endlessly-answerable questions, that would be quickly google-able by a reasonable person.

I get the impression the tag is often useful for filtering and finding questions to be closed on other SE sites with the hwk ta

@James Exactly! My point.
The fact that homework is fuzzy is what's bothering him, not the fact that adding a tag somehow calls for a different treatment.

no @Tips - it's (what I perceive to be) reduced rates of closing because we are more lenient if a question is tagged with homework that bothers me. I understand what we use the homework closure for here on biology SE, and I feel comfortable in judging the posts we get in terms of whether they violate or homework policy, no problems with fuzziness.

@rg255 I understand completely why it might bother you.
You're worried that this is a thing.
But as long as it's not backed up by hardcore evidence, this should only be treated as a worry, nothing more.
I mean, directing the main meta-chat conversation is a bit too much.
12:52
how exactly can hardcore evidence be collected for this - the problem is that its very subjective
whats wrong with discussing it without "hardcore" evidence?

@rg255 stack exchange data explorer?

Howdy all. Sorry I've been under the radar for a week or so - my primary computer died last Monday (still isn't fixed), and I've been using my wife's computer on and off. The SE iPhone App just isn't the same as in a desktop browser - no tabs, for one thing.

@rg255 SEDE.
@rg255 Why not discussing something else that's more important?
Bio.SE is in a stage where you should be writing meta FAQ's for future reviewers/voters/etc.
15:50
Again - we can discuss more than one thing at a time. Multi tasking is not beyond biologists.
And biology se and all other se sites are always at a stage where we can and should discuss current problems (or indeed the existence or non existence of said problems)
