For people not familiar with this name -- MathJax is a plugin which converts LaTeX math markup like $X_1^2$ into proper math notation, in this case . On one hand equations may appear here too rare to justify it, on the other hand it might be useful for chemistry; maybe it is not a desired us...

@MacCowell HI
You new to StackExchange, Mac?

Not really, but I don't have enough working knowledge in the web app areas to contribute meaningfully. But I benefit from the other stack exchanges.

Ah, nice. Coming into the light :D
In Internet culture, a lurker is a person who reads discussions on a message board, newsgroup, chatroom, file sharing, social networking site, listening to people in VOIP calls such as Skype and Ventrilo or other interactive system, but rarely or never participates actively. It's gonna be interesting to see what technical areas this community ends up focusing on. I feel like all of biotechnology may be too much of a firehose.

Hi @Lisa (:

Hi Rebecca
I have noticed your name all over SE, so I don't suppose Biology is your first love by any chance...

I'm actually a Stack Exchange employee, hehe.

Anyway, I feel like it might be a while before we get questions that really test the scope of biology... so far most are to do with biochemistry in a lab... is that what you think this SE will focus on?
That's right. I think I noticed you were ages ago. That's nice you're being paid to hang out then :)

yeah, pretty sweet gig if I may say so! (;
@Lisa the first few days, the temptation is definitely there to judge a site. Really just need to give it some time, let the audience expand.

@RebeccaChernoff true

The private beta and early public beta is definitely the time to explore the scope and think about scope, tags, the faq. Gotta get rid of the new car smell and get some mud on the tires!
