Not an answer, but another way to look at the question: It's not necessary to love cuddly things in order to be comfortable around others' children. You could treat it as a matter of curiosity: "I wonder what that infant could be thinking?" "Look how it changes over time." "Why does it keep doing that?" etc. Then, later, add the pronouns "he", "she" instead of "it". Eventually, curiosity may develop into empathy. — jrw32982 supports Monica2 mins ago
