The above all makes sense but I will add one other point linking onto yo ur comment. I don't know if this has any relevance but I thought I would include it anyway that I was recently diagnosed with Autism. But I don't personally agree with that and also I have a job etc and friends so am pretty 'normal' even if it is correct. — Richard C 59 secs ago

the important thing is that your both honest with where you both are on this and that you agree that if one of you changes your position it isnt fair to expect the other person to and therefore at that point it may be time to move on. The issue arises if one lies in hope the other will change there mind. As far as your and her family are concerned, a firm we are not intrested in having children, please do not mention it again, should go a long way — Richard C 1 min ago

As a French myself, i both agree and disagree with "In French culture, it's considered vulgar/rude/distasteful to talk about money in public". Sure people here might not be willing to tell their friends how much they earn but I've never seen it as an issue to ask for splitting the bill, unless maybe if it's business related or if it's dating, you might look cheap but I can't think of other situations where people would get offended if you ask for splitting the bill — F. Not sure if this could really help, as most of the people (at least that I've met) that tend to pressure others to have kids, don't see with good eyes the fact that the couple in question wants to "enjoy" their time first (i.e. travelling, studying, etc) as it is considered by those people as somewhat selfish. But I do agree on the overall idea that making them see that you don't want kids for the moment without completely disregarding the idea is the way to go. — Josh Part 56 secs ago

Also, you can't make anyone accept anything. You can point out the facts and tell them what your actions are going to be, but whether they accept them or not is completely up to them. — Anoplexian 1 min ago
