Ankit does not believe that the Americans landed on the moon...so, there's that.
@AnkitSharma Really?
Flag waved
no stars
Moon landing conspiracy theories are conspiracy theories which claim that some or all elements of the Apollo program and the associated Moon landings were hoaxes staged by NASA with the aid of other organizations. The most notable claim is that the six manned landings (1969–72) were faked and that twelve Apollo astronauts did not actually walk on the Moon. Various groups and individuals have made claims since the mid-1970s, that NASA and others knowingly misled the public into believing the landings happened, by manufacturing, tampering with, or destroying evidence including photos, telemetry tapes...
I've read the theories before, but none of them have any form of credibility to them.
I don't know about the credibility you are searching for but many are valid points
Flag waving is debatable on both end but why no stars
There is an entire Mythbusters episode dedicated to disproving all the most common "theories".
09:35
@DrRDizzle will watch it someday

1 hour later…
11:02
neither of those things is debatable.

the flag waved because the guy holding it was moving it. it was not 'blowing in the wind' it was shaking out like any other piece of cloth.
and you can't see the stars in those photos for the same reason you can't see the stars during the day. The surface of the moon is too bright; if you exposed the photo long enough to pick up stars the whole thing would be washed out.

2 hours later…
12:35
also because the alien ship was blocking the stars
the moon landing was real. 9/11 was not faked. obama was born in the US. the pulse shooting was real. dinosaurs and man never lived together. but the earth is flat.
12:53
@phantom42 The Earth isn't flat, it's a globe - but we live on the inside.
the EU military page needs to be updated, all of the UKs forces are still on it
the EU just lost like a 3rd of its military power
reddit took me down a rabbit hole of world airforces
aren't they still technically committed forces until the actual exit?
probably, and everyone is still part of Nato anyway i believe
for some reason greece has 1600 tanks though
its like its only contribution
everyone else has a few 100
actually, the earth is flat, but we actually live on the turtle
the earth is held onto the turtle by toad's spit
13:09
obviosuly, only toads spit is strong enough
@KutuluMike Yes, but on the inside of the turtle.
costume appears to be the same as the CW one

Q: Why did Eddard Stark keep Catelyn in the dark?

Paul LIn the Season 6 finale of Game of Thrones, we learn that (Okay, to be fair, we don't 100% definitely know this, but it is incredibly heavily implied. So for the purposes of this question, I assume it to be true.) If that is the case, then why did Ned lie to his wife? Why did While I unde...

Q: How do we know this character's lineage, based on the show?

JakeWatching the season 6 finale of Game of Thrones and then reading several blogs online, I've seen many reference a character's lineage as hard fact now that it's been revealed in the show - however, I'm not sure that I picked up on all of the details, because I only see that they've revealed one p...

ugh.
i haven't seen the episode yet and I can tell exactly what they're talking about.
I guess I should watch the damn thing.
> It's around the two-thirds mark that Spencer and Saiz lay out the inadvertent part of the Red Skull's plan snapping into action. Kobik, thoroughly trusting the Red Skull and by association Hydra, "fixed" Selvig to make him happier by erasing his memories and replacing them with ones to make him forever loyal to Hydra. And so, knowing that Kobik's idea of helping people is to make them part of Hydra,
> we learn that the Red Skull's real plan for Pleasant Hill was solely to lure Steve Rogers into a situation where Kobik would heal him after approaching death. And in doing so, rewrite the original Captain America's mind so that he, too, would be a Hydra agent. The sepia-colored flashbacks from the first issue are the Kobik-implanted memories that have erased Steve's recollection of his real childhood.
i know this is going to shock you all, but steve isn't really an agent of hydra

Q: What exactly killed Ariana when Dumbledore and Grindelwald fought for 'The Greater Good'?

kvchivukulaI have seen few narrations and some fan made videos on the battle between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. There was some magic that killed Ariana when both Dumbledore and Grindelwald were duelling. What may have killed her? Does the magic bounce off?

wow, it's working.
> In many ways, it's a counterpoint to the Winter Soldier, who had his own memories wiped while serving the Soviets until Captain America used a Cosmic Cube to restore Bucky's mind
^--- couldn't they do this in the MCU?
oh wait, that wasn't a cosmic cube. it was the space gem in disguise.
couldn't Vision's Mind Gem "fix" Bucky?
possibly. it's unclear what powers it has while it's embedded in him
13:43
that was an odd choice, IMO.
unless that's the plan for Infinity War... his stone is the last one Thanos needs and he'd have to kill Vision to get it.
are we sure joss whedon isn't involved anymore?
%%seen phantom42
because that sounds like something joss would do
@$%#%6#&^
"hey guys, here's a new favorite character for you. now, let's kill him"
13:44
well Joss wrote Age of Ultron, he might have planned that out in advance.
"No one likes anyone here enough for me to murder them brutally. Lets introduce one guy in this movie and have him gunned down, and a second guy that we can kill later."
huh. git is smarter than I thought.
I copied about 3/4 of a code file from joshua into a new file.
> copied: moseisley/joshua.py -> moseisley/games.py
but I actually made a new file and copied/pasted, it still picked it up as a copy.
You want to make Thanos feel like a real threat? Have him land on Earth, rip the Mind Stone out of The Vision's head and disappear without even giving any of the other heroes a second glance.

2 hours later…
15:43
@Joshua i think i can ask it in 10 more ways ;p
for you guys, friday the 13th ontopic?
why wouldnt it be?
only the first one doesnt involve some sort of zombie killer raised from the dead
and the later ones give him a mystical background, dont they?
or am i thinking of halloween?
also, jason in space
yeah i figured it was on topic
theres a debate is mos about it
is nightmare on elm street also not on topic?
they all say that one is
there just aruging over the first movie
first friday*
15:48
was there a resolution on 1 part makes the series on topic?
if scooby doo is on topic, Friday the 13th is on topic
um the highest answer is maybe
gilles guideline of "maybe" says that means "yes"
but let's go on and debate whether an immortal killer who ends up in the future and gets cloned is on topic
yeah, they wanted to bring it to movies
for better viewing
but movies has 2 questions and only has 4 and 6 upvotes apiece
lol
16:07
We interrupt this broadcast to bring you a totally pointless statement.
> John Connor has been portrayed by more actors than any other character in sci-fi film and television history (7 actors);[2] with the exception of James Bond (7 actors)[3] and the Doctor of Doctor Who (34 actors, though only twelve are official Doctors).
I am the greatest athlete to have ever lived, except for those that are better than me, living or dead.
yes, but technically those are not the same James Bond.
and arguably not the same Doctor
they are the same John Connor
@KutuluMike Aren't they?

Q: Is there any continuity between James Bond movies that have different actors portraying the title character?

Jack B NimbleThere was a foolish (in my opinion) question asked on Scifi.SE Is James Bond a timelord? James bond keeps returning with a different face, albeit usually a similar one, and often operates with high-tech gadgetry that seem to be on par with the Doctor's sonic screw driver. In my opinion eac...

I thought the established theory was that James Bond was a code name.
when one dies they just train someone else to be him.
maybe that's just a fan theory. I don't watch spy-fi. its off topic
right 007/jamebond
Certainly in the latest versions at least his first name is James in real life, as the butler at his family estate calls him that.
The Flash learned all his secret identity keeping tricks from James Bond.
3
16:15
James Bond is a fictional identity MI-6 has created. It builds up a mystique of an unstoppable super-agent. When later Bonds act sad about their "dead wife" it's just to stay in character.

Q: Who Sabotage ED-209?

RANSARA009in the 1987 Robocop Movie when Dick Jones introducing the His Robot ED-209 & Demonstrating to OCP chairman & Other Staff, ED-209 Kills Innocent Employee Without a Gun.. so my question is is this Malfunction of ED-209 Sabotage by "Bob Morton" to Get Approval from OCP to His Project Robocop or it's...

question is posted. richard says it's a dupe. op says it's not, but votes to close it anyways.
and then complains about "no justice"
I don't accept the premise of the title
that's because you sabotage ed-209
reading richards answer on the original.. what a nonsense answer
"he was given live rounds because the wrong weight would make him malfunction"
They make fake bullets that weight exactly like real ones.
Also, all bullets have a slight variation in weight anyways. The weight difference would have to be significant for someone (or something) to tell the difference.
Despite what Caprica would have us believe.
and i have no idea what the stuff about filmmakers wanting a bloodier scene has anything to do with it
The filmmakers wanted a bloodier scene. They sabotaged ED-209, loaded him with real bullets, all in the name of great cinema.
16:54
is that what happened to brandon lee?
Maybe.
Filmmakers are the real monsters.
no justice here my freinds no justice
Tonight: Justice has a new name, but we're still just going to keep calling it justice, because otherwise that gets confusing.
17:14
blanks don't weigh significantly less than live ammo but they do recoil a lot less.
maybe it would throw off a rapid-fire device built to accommodate recoil if there was none?
i dunno
ED-209 doesn't even really need bullets. Doesn't he swat Robocop through a wall with his arm when RC jams his cannon?
I don't think for demonstration purposes ED-209 had to be full loaded.
I guess ED-209 is just toying with him. Like a cat.
the haters are downvoting friday
guess supernatural psycho killer off topic
ocp had better hope ed never runs low on ammo
else the lack of weight may make him malfunction
I only see two questions.
So I don't understand which question you guys are saying is said to be in discussion.

Q: Is Friday the 13th on topic here?

Ankit SharmaIs Friday the 13th on-topic here? As it's a slasher/horror franchise. The franchise mainly focuses on the fi...

Oh. oh.
so the question "where is camp crystal lake?" even if you say f13 1-xxx" are out of scope because no SF/F content, later movies clearly do, so at the very least, those are on topic
also.
for the record.
"where is camp crystal lake" is still a valid on topic question, as it appears in almost all the movies
Jason is in the first movie. his decomposing body attacks the girl at the end.
isn't that a dream?
17:28
its not clear, I don't think.
she gets pulled underwater, then wakes up in the hospital.
she's on the lake when the cops arrive, though they claim they didn't see anyone else.
he also survives an axe through the skull
Part VII has a telekenetic person in it, according to wikipedia.
I never got that far.
the cops tell her they pull her from the lake
according to wikipedia
it looks like parts 6 onward are explicitly fantasy.
parts 1-5 it's left open to interpretation if Jason's really coming back from the dead or not.
did we end up going with the rule that "if it's billed or marketed as sf/f, it's on-topic"?
thats richards rule at least
even in the original movie, the lake is supposedly cursed
and being terrorized by a supernatural killer
it's not until the end that we learn it's not a supernatural killer
17:43
The Scooby-Doo effect.
Maybe we should just say the character is on-topic.
I like the idea of bringing dead children back to life as adults thanks to the power of electricity though.
@phantom42 well, if that curse was all a made-up story then I don't think that would count as sci-fi..
I posted a new, longer version of Wad's meta answer.
Agreeing with him, if you can believe it.
i want to highlight and bold your when in doubt
i have spread my seed votes
@KutuluMike but by that logic, wizard of oz is off topic too since it's just a dream
not in the sequel!
and it's ambiguous!
but so is f13-1
17:52
oz and alice are both voted ontpopic already tho
Everything's a dream.
@JackBNimble you're a dream
@phantom42 your mom's a dream!
jay garrick is a dream
true enough.
17:55
@phantom42 yes, and I'm arguing that Part 1 is on topic, specifically because it's unclear in #1 if there's anything supernatural, but it's very clear in parts 6, 7, etc that there are supernatural things, so #1 could definitely be considered supernatural.
unlike, say, Baywatch, where there is absolutely no indication whatsoever that there's anything supernatural going on, despite Baywatch Nights going totally off the rails.
You don't consider the women of Baywatch to be supernatural?
they're definitely fantasy
I see them on E! all the time and that's REALITY baby.
I never saw lifeguards like that.
arent you living in the mountains?
you should go to a real beach
18:01
are you allowed to have hot life guards in utah?
sure. you don't need water to have life guards.
well i think you clearly won everyone over
just ankit downvoted you probaby :P

Q: Korath, the Pursuer?

DCShannonIn other properties, Korath and Ronan are both members of the Kree government. Korath is the founder of the Pursuer Corps, which is "similar in function to the U.S. Marshal system". Ronan is the leader of the Accuser corps, which is kind of like the judges in Judge Dredd. This makes him second in...

@Himarm It was clear but i do think his answer was good but good argument!=agreement
@JackBNimble ROFL
@phantom42 You mean fantastic
@phantom42 We have the Great Salt Lake beach, no lifeguards on duty.
well you just naturally float in that lake right
I'm not sure I've ever seen women lifeguards on duty at a California beach, although I assume they exist (like a baby pigeon).
@Himarm I suppose, I don't know anyone who actually swims in the salt lake. People do boating on it, but the water and the beach are fairly disgusting.

complete with synopsis of the stupid revelation
ooops
missed it
that lasted what

I think he was hydra once before too, not sure if it was main continuity or not
So this dumb version of steve roger is not part of Civil war 2?
Anybody following civil war 2?
@Himarm they left with no good ideas

My friend's sister just got hired in wardrobe for the new Spider-man movie.
I'm hoping this means I have access to all the inside information.
you definitely will, as long as it's about what color socks they are wearing
you have my ears , whisper it all
I MUST KNOW THEIR SOCK COLORS!
And what about underwear ;D
19:19
Everyone knows Spider-Man wears his underwear on the outside.
Just like Superman.
So I can't ask him Boxers or Brief?
20:00
@JackBNimble one of my friends from high school was in the wardrobe department for spider-man 1 and 2. she worked on the costume.

> Pope will play Coast City reporter Susan Williams -- in the comics, the wife of [Hal Jordan's] brother, Jim -- who comes to Star City "looking to make a name for herself" by going after Oliver Queen for a "big story."
20:51
they're really scooping up The Tomorrow People cast.
Robbie Amell was on Firestorm, Peyton List was Captain Cold's sister, Luke Mitchell was on SHIELD.
Mark Pellegrino is in everything ever filmed on TV
Carly Pope looks a lot like Cobie Smulders.
did pellegrino get cast for something new?
he is currently back on Supernatural
but I think that's done.
he did Lucifer for a few episodes but then they had him take over Misha Collins' character's body.
wife was just commenting that she sees him a lot, but when i went down the list of his credits, the only thing she'd seen him in was dexter and lost
20:59
looks like he was in Quantico this season also.
I've seen him in Supernatural, The Tomorrow People, Revolution, The Returned, Being Human, and Lost

Q: If Sara Conner was Killed?

RANSARA009In 1984's Terminator, the titular character comes from the future to kill Sarah Conner before she could give birth to John Conner. My question is what would happen if the Terminator managed to kill Sarah before giving birth to John?

this guy asks every question that pops into his head without giving anything a second thought
and I assume I saw him in Chuck and Castle and just don't remember
"What if the entire plot of the first movie happened?"
i dont want to discourage him, because some of his questions are ok, but come on
well... given that it's Terminator...
are we really supposed to assume Skynet's plan would succeed any better than any of the good guys?
the real answer is probably something like "someone from the future would send a guy back even further to impregnate her earlier."
damn. Richard found a reasonable duplicate but it's going to get closed a POB instead
