Massive nausea after trying to use it for prolonged amounts of time though. I need contacts. So far only one person I've showed it to hasn't gotten totally sick
If I finish up my basic gameplay demo before my trip, and get my writing done during it, then I'll hopefully have some free cycles to put towards it in june.
With all the things there he was right that it was relevant - this was a social experiment implemented by the game devs in full knowledge it would get pooped on by pirates. They skewed their own data by forcing an outcome.
@Blue it's a shitty protocol, where anything is possible! combine it with the fact that it's designed to transfer data over network, which means data itself can be broken into pieces and should be joined together before parsing
@William'MindWorX'Mariager but there is, there are lots of them, some have been patched over the years and some are still vulnerable.
I've read so many articles about security vulnerabilities of HTTP, and I was wondering how can someone implement a protocol with those kinda security issues. But after trying to implement only a portion of it's rules, I figured the problem is the protocol itself, not the implementations
as you said the main problem is with the implementations of HTTP, but still there is no bug-free implementation out there.
also note that HTTP is a text based protocol along side many other internet protocols such as SMTP, FTP, ...
which result in cross protocol security issues,
I was once into those things, searching around the web will give you lots of idea how to misuse these protocols and gain what you were never meant to have.
or if you hover your cursor over a message you'll see small triangle pointing down, you can expand the menu, and see all the great features they've put there!
@chintankhetiya I don't like java, but I think there used to be some other android developers around here.
people in this room are mostly experienced with C#, HTML/CSS, JS and C++.
@Gajoo okay , now can you tell me about some game , i like to play game but never build it. so how to start what are the fundamental ? all basic step .... so i can start with it
@chintankhetiya Damn straight I'm a librarian, Nice to meet ya.
+1 @Gajoo, @chintankhetiya - If you have a game in mind, leave it. Learn the dead set basics of making a game, Gajoo's suggestion of Pong is a great one and you should make it until it is a full playable game, scores, menus, options, the lot.
This way you end up being able to track the progress of starting game development from beginning to end. An important skill for gamedev is programming, a vital skill is being able to actually finish a project.
@chintankhetiya Then I suggest you install Eclipse for Android (you can google that easily) and create pong, be it a normal Java Canvas app or on Android.
@chintankhetiya not enough, start building one yourself, from scratch. you can use other's projects as references some times but you can't just copy their code and say I'm done!
Game Development is one of the few softwaer engineering based areas that you must not cut corners on in order to learn from the ground up. It has a completely separate methodology when designing it, to implementing it and then releasing it at a playable standard. So many things must be put into a game, including assets, scripting, level design, an end game concept, graphical implementation, physics, networking, and artificial intelligence.
I have been working on my 2D platformer the whole day, and finally decided to fix those ugly 1 pixel deviations between my tiles and my character. I discovered it had to do with the fact that I use Vectors for all my positions and cast those to ints, which resulted in rounding differences. So: wouldn't it be a lot easier to just use points for the positions then? since those already contain ints. Any thoughts?
Ahh that's great! Thans again! Ehm I actually need to go right now, i'm getting late for something, but really wanted my question answered ;) When I have time i will definitely check your game out
After a little running around the internet I found an interesting article that shows a good example of how pirating can affect a game directly and shutdown a project.

It's all in Ren'Py, so a lot of it will be messing with RenPyGame plugins and whatnot, then building up a system from scratch, but QTEs would be a welcome addition to a visual novel engine.

I remember my very first trip to High Hrothgar. I was half way up the mountain. I looked up and I couldn't see the top or the castle, it felt unreachable. So I decided to go back. But then this song, "Wind Guide You" started playing. It really felt as if it was talking to me, telling me that I was all alone, I had no choice, the whole world was against me and yet it put all its burden on my shoulders and I had to move forward. And so I did. I broke into tears when I finally reached the castle..
@AlexM. Second-hand development is all the rage. I understand how to do what I want with assembly, C/C++, and Java, but why would I want to when I can leverage existing tools to make my life easier?
All I have to do is make sure I understand the deep repercussions of using such tools, and boom.
