because every time I load a page, it comes up as a simple html and I need to reload the page so (most) of the things appear, usually it takes a few refreshes, but I need to always refresh once at least...
try the usual stuff - disable all "hook" apps like antivirus/firewall software (except the windows one, that works) - those tend to create problems like that
chrome doesn't have such bugs currently and if other browsers run fine, there could be an external problem
How do game engine entities communicate?
Two use cases:
How would entity_A send a take-damage message to entity_B?
How would entity_A query entity_B's HP?
Here's what I've encountered so far:
Message queue
entity_A creates a take-damage message and posts it to entity_B's message queue.

I'm not saying that windows 8 is the problem itself, I'm just saying that some apps (which maybe come with it or something on some cases) may create some issues some times
but I don't know how those behave on other OS's or even how they appeared on min
Yeah but "maybe its a Windows 8 thing" and "I had another Windows 8 program that was eating at least 4GB of RAM while doing nothing" gives the impression that Windows 8 is bad when that's really not the case.
The thing people seem to get confused over is that the metro "Start Screen" is not a desktop. It IS the start button. Just launch your apps from it. I use the search feature so I haven't even organized mine at all. As for metro apps, if you are on a desktop, don't use them. They hinder multitasking quite a bit. The only metro apps I have used since installing Win8 are games.
For those that claim it breaks workflow by going full screen, I don't think those people have tried it. Its so fast.
I like Windows 8. Don't see much of a difference from Windows 7 with some minor UI things since I don't use metro. I don't think I do but I might fall into the "fanboy" category. My big concern is I don't like all the FUD being spread around.
That's always my first thought but it seems more often than not these days people are talking about Super Meat Boy and as such it just doesn't make sense.
I think achievements are a Good Thing. The gamers who don't care can ignore them for the most part, and the gamers who do get more value out of the game.
In real life, I'm a bit of a lefty. I like universal health care. but in game design, you should have to earn everything you get
I call the trend "left-wing game design" where designers try to let everyone have everything. The argument is, "they paid for it" which makes an amount of sense, but if it's all easy, it's no fun. so it falls apart.
So I'm looking for a summer internship. I've applied to the big boys (Microsoft, some EA places) but was wondering if people knew of studios what would be interested in summer interns?
@ClassicThunder Yeah I made $17 an hour at my internship but I was under the impression that simple QA internships you shouldn't expect to be compensated much, if at all. Maybe people were just spreading false information.
