We have already a new user following the same path traced by their compatriots using ai, claiming to be "95 year old mathematician" answering convoluted neural network problems in CV and answering geometry problems in Maths.
Moderators: we have what looks like a spam account at stats.stackexchange.com/users/454619/rollmops-sushi-hamburg. They haven't posted (yet), but have accounts on multiple sites, with a "description" that is nothing but an ad for a sushi delivery service in Hamburg, Germany...
... and while we are on it, a spa in Rochester, NY: stats.stackexchange.com/users/454607/amitas-xpress-spa. I guess this kind of thing is new to only one person here... and that there are automatic detectors that alert y'all to this kind of account.

@StephanKolassa what 🙂
Seriously my god, what is happening. 🤧
Btw @StephanKolassa how did you find these? 👏🏻👏🏻
@User1865345 TBH, setting up accounts that are simply ads looks like so much of a no-brainer for SEO to me that my best guess is that this has been happening for years, but there are detectors and mods take a look and delete behind the scenes... but mods actually have a life and take a break on Christmas Day, which is the only reason why these accounts are still around today.
I see.
As to how I found them: I was intrigued by the 95 year old mathematician you mentioned, went to the "new users" page and started clicking through. (Did I mention that my insomnia kicked in today at 3:30am?)
Lol
Putting all these crap aside, merry Christmas to you all! Happy Holiday to the community. 😇
Same! Happy holidays!

@StephanKolassa there was indeed a centenarian Austrian mathematician who wrote papers till 103, I guess.
Leopold Vietoris ( vee-TOR-iss, German: [ˈleːopɔlt viːˈtoːʁɪs], Austrian German: [ˈleːopɔld viːˈtoːrɪs]; 4 June 1891 – 9 April 2002) was an Austrian mathematician, World War I veteran and supercentenarian. He was born in Radkersburg and died in Innsbruck. He was known for his contributions to topology—notably the Mayer–Vietoris sequence—and other fields of mathematics, his interest in mathematical history, and for being a keen alpinist. == Biography == Vietoris studied mathematics and geometry at the Vienna University of Technology. He was drafted in 1914 in World War I and was wounded in September...
He would have a terrific CV
Absolutely... but was he active on CV?
Survived WW1, did maths, defeated Grim Reaper till 110, wrote papers till 103!
@StephanKolassa No, I am sure. 🙂
Seriously though, these gen AIs have developed leaps and bounds. 🙄
@StephanKolassa btw you can read things what you love the least. I have read somewhere that that would propel you fall to slumber quickly.
@User1865345 But when that doesn't work, then you don't sleep and are reading stuff you don't like. Life is too short for that.
Also, I am trying. But the paper I am skimming, while pointless, has so far failed to put me to sleep. I'll try another one.

I see. 🙂

A: Can I use bootstrapping for small sample sizes to satisfy the power analysis requirements?

Stephan Kolassa This is precisely why you do your power analysis and sample size calculation before you run the experiment. Yes, the result may be that you do not have the resources to run an adequately powered experiment. But then you should not run an inadequately powered experiment "because you don't have th...

+1. I think I would send this to bunch of psychology students I have taught last semester. Each piece of words is a fact.

Thanks. When I got to the question, it was at -1. I upvoted, because while it's the kind of question we would not be getting in a better world, it's asked in a good way, and I'd rather people ask this kind of question here than not.
Yes. I agree. I didn't downvote because I have seen students especially without proper statistical training suffering hard with these things.
They did the right thing to ask it here. I have seen people resort to bunch of sub standard resources available online selling nonsensical cookbook advices finally to get some awful results.
Meanwhile I do love hand drawn plots in answers (cf. @SextusEmpiricus).
Anyways enjoy your night @StephanKolassa. Hope you get some sleep.
I will be catching later.

@User1865345 I wasn't happy with the old drawing. 3d images are tricky. But the current one is satisfying and I dont feel anymore that I need to redo it on a computer.

@SextusEmpiricus yes. It is looking way better. Upvoted.
