stats.stackexchange.com/a/219297/14076 An edit was proposed changing the final number here from -10 to -20. Two different other users, Adrian Keister and utobi, approved it. But zscore(c(rep(1, 100), -1))[101] in R yields -10, not -20. Am I missing something, or did three different people all make the same mistake?

@Kodiologist if I remember correctly, I skipped that proposed edit for I didn't have the chance to check it. In any case, if it is wrong, it can be rolled back.

@Kodiologist Clearly the edit was erroneous if only because it resulted in an inconsistency, so I rolled it back. It is not unusual for one or two reviewers to approve an incorrect edit, but in my experience it's hard to fool three!

A: Constructing a continuous distribution to match $m$ moments

Ismail ChamseddineMy book (PhD thesis, Imperial College, 1997, Construction of Random signals from their Higher Order Moments: Applications in Signal Processing and Mathematical Logic) is just about this. Hope this is helping you.

I don't know if the author is implying the whole book of his is needed to answer the question in hand. Asked for brief outline, though.

Thanks for the sanity check, guys.

It is frustrating when you conclude the link is not archived and there is no hope to salvage it. It is broken and dead.
