@Glen_b We ought to bear in mind that we don't see a representative sample of people here, nor can we trust what a questioner tells us about their professor.
I like to imagine, perhaps naively, that the vast majority of professors provide good advice, know their limitations, and consult statistical experts when they need help :-).

Do I understand it correctly that to estimate the parameters of a distribution via the method of moments I calculate the first and second moment of a sample, set these equal to the distributions formula for the respective moment and then solve for the parameters of the distribution?

Hi everyone! Using time series analysis we can forecast continuous variables. Unfortunately the problem I am dealing is a bit different in nature. I have to forecast a categrical variable (a binary output to be more precise). How can I forecast a categorical variable using time series analysis?
