We're not allowed to talk spoilers, are we?
I think we are.
Napoleon actually asked about some spoilers a couple of days ago, and what we're seeing in trailers probably doesn't count as spoilers.
I'm curious as to what the hell that thing is that the stormtrooper is using.
It is clearly impervious to lightsabers.
It may be cortosis.
But to the main things
Phasma is female. Phasma wears a cape and carries a blaster that looks like Boba Fett's upgraded. Boba Fett survival confirmed?
Benedict Cumber...batch... is Kylo Ren. How long before they reveal his face?
Finn's saber is Luke/Anakin's saber. You were spot on there.
No, there was some article about Phasma being a sudden addition because some other character... something.
My brain isn't working properly today.
@Axelrod There was no question in my mind after I put this picture together.
@Axelrod - re: mustelid young: Baby ferrets are called "kits", and the same probably applies to other mustelids.
So I wonder, did they just never finish destroying the Empire or did these First Order copycats somehow manage to muster up an Empire's worth of power without being noticed?
00:16
I like to compare it to the Roman Empire. If you killed the reigning Emperor and won a battle and destroyed a major fortress far from the capital, would you expect the entire Empire to suddenly disappear? Of course not.
But these guys seem more "resurgence" than "continuation"
You did something amazing, but you didn't destroy an enormous bureaucracy and its military.
@Axelrod Resurgence = continuation + growth
In my mind, at least.
An empire that rules an entire galaxy can't be destroyed in two major battles.
The Western Roman Empire was on its last legs before Rome was sacked, but the sacking didn't kill it off.
01:11
T-minus 27 hours and counting.
Hmm. Tempted to create the tag wiki for "Project X", but there are two movies by that name and I only know the older one. With no questions asked about the older Project X, it doesn't need a tag yet.
Also, whenever two movies share a name and one is about chimps, the chimp one is objectively better than the other.
Although I can't think of another example of this.

Q: How much is Stan Lee paid for his cameos in MCU films?

Capy StenchbeastI have done some research for a question similar to this (but fundamentally different from it) on SF&F, but I couldn't come up with any specific numbers. The Screen Actors Guild requires that actors be paid for their time, and the rates depend on: Whether the part includes lines How many d...

@CapyStenchbeast Love that song.
@MovieReel Do you mean SAG member?
Yep. Typo.
As a note, SAG only requires that someone be paid SAG minimum daily rate... the accepted answer is wrong... so, by SAG rules, they'd only have to pay him $906 for each day of shooting... but the rules in regards to cameos can be different... so I'm not honestly sure the SAG rules apply.
@Catija I'm pretty sure if he's speaking any lines then SAG rules apply
01:47
@MikeEdenfield Not if it's not a SAG film.
true
I can't imagine a studio like Fox or Marvel not having a CBA though
Regardless, considering the shooting locations, he's almost certainly a member of SAG, since shooting in California pretty much requires it.... and all of the main cast is certainly SAG, so the films have to be SAG
@MikeEdenfield I had reason to find out that Sibel Kekilli (Shae from GoT) was not SAG as of a year ago... because they shoot outside the US, SAG doesn't have as much control, so they're able to hire both SAG and non-SAG people... though everyone's probably still paid at least SAG min since they do have some SAG performers in the show.
does the adult film industry have a union?
i thought I read she had worked in that industry for a bit
@MikeEdenfield No clue. There's one for sex workers...
@MikeEdenfield She was a renowned non-adult actress before GoT already, though.
To my knowledge Gegen die Wand was total critics' favourite, although I've admittedly never seen it.

Q: Miss Cross dancing with Max Fischer at the end

coleopteristWes Anderson's Rushmore closes with a scene where Miss Cross asks Max if he wants to dance. He gets the DJ to change the music to the song Ooh la la by The Faces. Miss Cross then removes his glasses and there's a lot of staring into each others eyes before she pulls him onto the floor. All this ...

@NapoleonWilson I know, it just made me wonder.
they have their own awards show
HA HA HA HA I totally misread that title.
i wondered if they had a union.
but I'm guessing probably not
@MikeEdenfield I think they talk about it but never follow through with it... that's what the articles I've seen seem to be saying.
@Catija You also thought someone was cross-dancing?
02:00
@NapoleonWilson Yes.
I don't even know what that is, but it sounds enough like cross-dressing, that's what I read it as.
02:17
Why do I have a message inviting me to chat and the room says "trash"? Does anyone know this?
Ask the guy who invited you (or his dog for that matter).
Oh God. I see now. Nevermind :)
It's because he moved all your flattering words you said to me right into the trash. ;-(
Gheez. What an ass.
I should have put the word "owl" after every comment ;)
I see the compliment I paid to Dr D is still there.
That's because he actually likes him. :'(
02:30
Pretty sure he was just messing with you :)
If it's any consolation, we all like and appreciate you in here :)
Did you see Richard's answer to the question about siblings in Movies? I can't figure out if he was serious or not.
I can't link it, because I am at home, but it's received a lot of upvotes.
I'm sure he was, just that noone probably pointed out that the question looks for humans, if it even does.
@steelerfan Yeah, people are all just messing with me today. :'(
@NapoleonWilson What?? Who else is messing with you?
Uh...you.
Oh, that's right. The Hooters thing. Sorry :(
Do you guys even have Hooters over there? It's more of a sports bar than anything. At least the one closest to me is.

Q: whats the name of this action crime drama where 2 guys give a stranger a ride, and he attempts to rob them?

Bumpkin PieThis movie is maybe 90s or 2000s. 2 rough white guys offer some hobo looking guy on the street a ride because its cold and dark. He sits in the backseat and pulls out knife to rob them, but they end up killing him and dumping his body. Car is like some old 70s clunker sedan.

JakeThe Scooby Doo TV Shows have always been around, all the way back since the sixties. @steelerfan Probably not.
@Catija Nice!! @NapoleonWilson can go there for his birthday!!!
@steelerfan Is @NapoleonWilson in Frankfurt?
@Catija I have no idea. Same country though ;)
02:44
Yeah, believe it or not but I'm not actually that hung up about Hooters. And I also don't know when I was last in Frankfurt, probably on a stopover by plane.
Hooters is actually a good sports bar. Good food and football. Great service.
The orange "uniforms" are great, though.
I thought maybe the US military had a bunch of presence in the Frankfurt area to explain having a Hooters...
@NapoleonWilson uh huh.
@Catija Ha! That would explain it!
@Catija Maybe, but it's also simply a pretty big city.
02:49
@NapoleonWilson Meh... I never hear of people wanting to go there, so I don't think of it being a big city... everyone I know goes to Berlin and Munich... that's where we went when we were there.
Well, at least it's the financial centre, and the biggest airport (which is pretty much the reason I've been there when I've been).
It's not actually something with cultural or touristic appeal, though.
Ah, that makes sense.
@NapoleonWilson So, what's the biggest tourist attraction over there?
I don't really know. I guess Goethe has something to do with Frankfurt? But that's still rather a Weimar thing. As said, you'd rather go there for business.
I know very little about Germany. I know Anne of Cleves and Martin Luther in historical terms.
and of course WWI and II.
02:58
See, I don't know who Anne of Cleves is.
Fourth wife of Henry VIII
Woot! American Werewolf of London is on HBO!! See you guys later! :))

Wow. Thinking of all those times I just wanted the director to apologize for the film in the DVD extras, this might be the closest I've seen to that. The yak (Bos grunniens and Bos mutus) is a long-haired bovid found throughout the Himalaya region of southern Central Asia, the Tibetan Plateau and as far north as Mongolia and Russia. Most yaks are domesticated Bos grunniens. There is also a small, vulnerable population of wild yaks, Bos mutus. == Etymology == The English word "yak" derives from the Tibetan gyag (Tibetan: གཡག་, Wylie: g.yag) – in Tibetan this refers only to the male of the species, the female being called a dri or nak. In English, as in most other languages which have borrowed the word, "yak" is usually used for both sexes. ...

Q: Was the movie 3096 Days remade in English?

BarryWas the movie 3096 Days remade in English? Looks like the movie was a German movie. However, I saw this movie on TV in English. It didn't look like a dubbing as there were no obvious mismatches in the lip movements and the dialogues.

@AnkitSharma I know, just attempting to be amusing\geeky. ;) Highland cattle and musk oxes are equally as adorable.
12:21
@Walt Yeah. I mean I don't think the issues Jackson was facing in production are the only reason for why The Hobbit trilogy failed to work, but it goes a long way to explaining why they still dropped off in quality pretty quickly after The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which was actually a decent film.
12:42
@DrRDizzle I agree that the first is the "best". But that's like saying that Episode III was the "best" prequel. I thought Unexpected Journey was childish, and some parts weren't even visually pleasing, which is the least they could've done. I'd say the 2nd is the worst, but TBH I don't really remember much of the 3rd one. I just watched it to complete the set and get it over with.
@Walt I thought parts of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was childish, but The Hobbit is a kids book, it is meant to be a lot more family-friendly and light-hearted than The Lord of the Rings. I think the biggest mistake that The Hobbit trilogy made was trying to turn this simply fantasy kids book into an "epic".
@DrRDizzle And just appeal to one demographic?! Have you any idea how much a beach house in Malibu costs?
@Walt But family-friendly appeals to all demographics, hence the overwhelming success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
@DrRDizzle But you were suggesting to make it primarily for kids. Which isn't a bad idea, really.
@Walt Oh, I might have said the 2nd was the best. The spider squence was really disturbing.
@DrRDizzle Exactly.
12:52
I truly regret watching these films, it was just poor filmmaking. OK, maybe not at Michael Bay level (which is intentionally bad filmmaking), but not that far off.
Meh, as always the prequels are claimed to be far worse than they actually are. Oh the internets.
@Walt Again, I'm going to have to stick up for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey here. It's fun, it's well acted, it has some really memorable set pieces and although it isn't necessarily what I wanted to see from these films, it did make me hopeful for the other two.
@NapoleonWilson You're talking to someone who thought the original SW trilogy was merely 'fun for kids'.
@Walt Sure, but so was the new one either.
@NapoleonWilson But I was no longer a kid :P
12:56
@Walt Well, I was (or almost still), your bad.
@DrRDizzle I just couldn't take any action scene there seriously. The stakes were so low and everything was resolved in such a silly manner.
@NapoleonWilson Was what? A kid when the prequels came out?
@Walt I watched the OT for the first time properly recently, and they are actually 3 pretty good films. I don't think Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back is the masterpiece that everyone claims it is, but I also don't think that Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi was the disappointment that everyone thinks it is.
@Walt Well, the stakes depended on the scene. The Goblin King run was really low stakes but a lot of fun to watch, but on the other hand the escape from the Wargs and the Orcs felt really tense.
@DrRDizzle They seem outdated, which is unexpected from a 'classic'. I admit that like the general population, I like Empire best and Jedi least
The thing that bugged me the most, though, (and I'm rarely someone of the "CGI is bad for story" hype culture of the internet) was that they used such a frigginly ridiculous parallax in the outdoor scenes (because well, something 100 meters away just isn't 3D unless you're a giant) so that all the action looked like stupid miniature models. Bugged me the most in the 3rd part.
@Walt I agree that Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back is the best of the three and Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi is the worst of the three, but not to the extremes that some people are willing to go.
13:00
@DrRDizzle I thought the goblin cave scene was an orange, awful mess. Sorry.
@Walt Well, nearly. I was 12 during episode 1, and I loved it back then.
@Walt As for dated, I actually disagree there. Visually, yes it does feel very dated - but the story and characters and setting and world still feel vibrant and relevant and important.
@DrRDizzle True, they're not that different, in the end.
@Walt That's OK, I didn't make it.
@DrRDizzle Nice summary.
13:01
@NapoleonWilson Oh, that too, sure.
I didn't like Return of the Jedi that much when I first watched 'em, but I've since grown much more fond of it.
@NapoleonWilson I can see why people take issue with the Ewoks to be fair, they take up a lot of time that could have been better spent elsewhere.
@DrRDizzle Maybe I'm just getting old. And for some reason I felt Leia's character is pretty anemic on a recent rewatch.
@Walt She's not as well-defined as Han or Luke (but specifically Han), but she's also still a lot better written than a lot of modern day female side characters/heroines, so I'm happy to give it some leeway there.
@DrRDizzle Napoleon might chime in with a 'Mad Max!' in reply here
13:06
@Walt I don't understand that sentence.
@Walt Oh yeah, but Mad Max: Fury Road is very much the exception to the rule, not the norm.
@NapoleonWilson I thought you liked it and Theron in it. Maybe it was Ankit
@Walt It might have been me - I flipping love Mad Max: Fury Road.
@DrRDizzle It's stunning how much Han is missed in the prequels. Ford probably improvised all the jokes, because there's no way in hell Lucas wrote them.
@Walt Sure I did, was a great movie. Can't see what that's to do that much with Princess Leia, though.
13:08
@NapoleonWilson More to do with 'modern day female side characters/heroines'
Yeah, was nice aspect of Fury Road, too. But while the feminism aspect of the movie was quite prevalent and interesting, we should still all stay on the carpet and not indulge too much into seeing it as the utter messiah of women-empowerement movies.
@Walt I know that Han's conversation with the Stormtrooper commander in A New Hope ("We're fine up here... ho-how are you?" shoots panel "That was a boring conversation anyway") was improvised.
@DrRDizzle Makes sense
I mean, she was just a badass woman in a fun and surrealistic action piece. She won't change the face of women's portrayal in movies either.
@NapoleonWilson Stay on the carpet? Wassdat :P
(Either it's a phrase I'm unaware of, or an interesting German one?)
13:11
@Walt Stay grounded and not exaggerate. (The latter I assume.)
@NapoleonWilson Nice
@NapoleonWilson Yeah, but the film itself embodied feminism and empowerment as a theme, and then proved that A) it would sell to a wide audience and B) critics were into it in a big way. Between the positive reaction to Furiosa, the success of the The Hunger Games films and the growing acknowledgement that women are often sidelined in the media, I'd expect to see women portrayed in films a lot more often and in better ways in the near future.
@DrRDizzle Mad Max is considered somewhat of a box office disappointment, though. As annoying as that is. :(
@DrRDizzle I'm not holding my breath. There are still a lot of sexist jerks in the world.
@Donald.McLean Or more specifically, in major Hollywood studios
Jessica Jones getting some decent reviews. Getting an Orphan Black vibe from it for some reason.
13:20
@DrRDizzle Sure.
Hi all, I have a question regarding tagging, is this the right place to ask?
yes.
and then grab some popcorn
Better not ask? ;)
@FranciscoV. Not at all. We seem to love that subject so much, we rant about it for weeks on end :P
@FranciscoV. Sure, though I can guess that question, I think. Genre tags are only to be used for general questions about the intricacies of the genre (or ID questions maybe), not for each question about a movie of that genre.

Good guess :-)

Q: looking for a horror movie - girl tortured on bed and bathtub

lookinglooking for the horror movie - what i remember is at the begin there are several girls held and one is tied to a bed, later than is one in a bathtub filled with water and a cage on top, there are held prisoner by 2 guys

@Walt I don't think it is. Expecting a non-12A film to make superhero film levels of money would be silly - the fact that a sequel is being made proves that no-one involved with it was disappointed with the returns they got.
14:07
@DrRDizzle It's no flop (certainly not the one people predicted). But with for a 200m+ budget (including marketing & distribution), it's not a huge hit, either.
@DrRDizzle A sequel isn't surprising, though. It was acclaimed, (re)gained cult status and has name recognition. They'll just have to scale down the cost next time.
@Walt No, but (semi-) adult rated big budget films rarely are. My point isn't that it made for a huge ROI, but that studio executives probably expected this level of return and aren't disappointed in it.
@DrRDizzle Studio execs are always disappointed unless they can literally slide down an enormous pile of cash like the Joker.
@Walt "It's not about a message. It's about sending me money."
@Walt That's just cynical.
@DrRDizzle Yeah, and they seem as eager to burn it as he does. Only on even viler substances than gasoline and dynamite. :P
14:16
@NapoleonWilson No, it isn't. The film execs aren't the film makers, the artists who are actually creating the work. They are businessmen.
@DrRDizzle Yeah, feel free to denigrate them. It's easy and justified. :P
@DrRDizzle Still, though. They still make their hypotheses about what the film might make, as you said yourself. Striving for maximum profit doesn't automatically mean disappointment when those hypotheses are met, they're still realistically thinking reasonable humans. I stand by my accusation of cynical overdemonization (which everyone's of course free to make).
@Walt Film execs prove that not everyone is good deep down inside.
@NapoleonWilson Well then I stand by my accusation that you have the face of a wombat.
@NapoleonWilson In all seriousness, there is nothing wrong with being disappointed that a film didn't make the amount you expected it to make, especially when you are the one funding it. That's just common business sense.
14:20
@NapoleonWilson I don't feel bad about that generalization at all, seeing that they think of me as a faceless mouthbreather.
@DrRDizzle Of course, but we (especially you) were talking about the film making the amount they expected.
@NapoleonWilson I also never said that it was a bad thing. In fact, I'm willing to bet that @Walt was being at least slightly flippant when he compared them to The Joker, a terrorist.
@DrRDizzle Of course, that's what I said in my message to him, too.
@DrRDizzle The Joker was a terrorist? He didn't seem to have a concrete agenda
@NapoleonWilson But I haven't demonised anyone.
14:24
@DrRDizzle I know, my original message (and thus any following reasoning thereabout) was a response to Walt, wasn't it.
@Walt He did - to cause terror.
@DrRDizzle Yeah, but it wasn't politically motivated. He just liked chaos.
I'm not sure you need politics to be a terrorist. If you're spreading terror just because your crazy and/or an asshole, that doesn't seem to make you any less of a terrorist, does it?
@Walt Specifically, chaos that made it easier to commit crime, and harder for the police force to stop said crimes. He literally intended to cause terror for the sake of causing terror - just because he didn't have an organisation behind him doesn't me what he was doing wasn't terrorism
@NapoleonWilson Legally, there's a huge difference.
14:26
Uhuh.
@DrRDizzle I get that the Joker is a metaphor for all that. But not an in-universe example of that. And it's a good thing, too.
@Walt I'm like 90% sure Harvey Dent calls The Joker a terrorist in The Dark Knight.
@NapoleonWilson 95% of what Hollywood churns out is dross. I'll demonize these people till I'm blue in the face.
@Walt How is he not an in-universe example of causing terror for sake of causing terror? Wasn't that exactly what he was doing?
@Walt Now that is over-cynical. Have you not been paying attention to what a good year for film 2015 has been?
14:28
@DrRDizzle Yeah, something about the whims of a terrorist, I think. Still, he's just portrayed as a maniac.
@Walt Which is why I said that you're free to do so. I might still call that cynical nevertheless.
@Walt The two aren't mutually exclusive.
@DrRDizzle That depends on your definition of good. I'm obnoxiously picky. And there are a ton of films coming out each year, we just ignore the awful ones.
@Walt It also depends on everyone else's definition of good, and in general there have been a lot of critically acclaimed films released this year.
@DrRDizzle Haven't there every year?
14:31
@DrRDizzle If it's more than 5-10 percent of the overall number of releases, I'll definitely be impressed.
@NapoleonWilson 2013 was a shit shoot of bad films.
@DrRDizzle I think it's an important distinction, though.
@Walt It really isn't. Would you call the people behind the Paris Attacks terrorists, maniacs, or both (and more)?
@NapoleonWilson Oh god I just remembered Gangster Squad exists. And Kick-Ass 2.
@DrRDizzle Terrorists, mainly.
@DrRDizzle I think one of my answers was about the worst year in recent memory
No wait, it was about dump months. It seems the worst reviewed year recently was 2004.
14:46
@Walt I think Jan/Feb are the dump months in the states?
@DrRDizzle Yup
@Walt It's not so bad in the UK - we often get the late releases from the year before and potential Oscar noms.
@DrRDizzle With late summer\early fall also somewhat of a dumping ground
@Walt For example, this January I reviewed Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), Whiplash and Foxcatcher.
@Walt And Ex Machina. Febuary was Big Hero 6, Inherent Vice and Kingsman: The Secret Service.
@Walt February was also Jupiter Ascending, but I try not to think about that when I can.
@DrRDizzle The trailer was so cool looking, but the reviews were pretty bad. I skipped it.
14:57
@Donald.McLean It's the most bored I've ever been in a cinema. Ever. I just wanted it to end.
From my Jupiter Ascending review - "Jupiter Ascending seems to have taken everything I ever found interesting about the films that the Wachowski's created and buried the bodies so deep no one would ever find them."
"Mila Kunis is just awful in the lead role, bringing a poorly written character to life with all the charisma of a limp handshake."
"And they are all playing really poorly written characters, with terrible dialogue, a lack of meaningful development and the most painfully unearned romance since Man of Steel."
i think its unfair to criticize any of the actors in Jupiter Ascending, since it was the single worst script EVER. honestly the movie would be fine if you dubbed a whole new dialogue into it >.< its like they let a 5 year old write the script
@DrRDizzle didn't like a movie?
<~~~ stunned
@MikeEdenfield Out of 28 films I've reviewed this year, I've given just 8 negative reviews.
curmudgeon
@Himarm It really wouldn't. It's narrative is a mess at a deep level, as is the logic of the world.
15:12
@DrRDizzle Yeah, same here.
@DrRDizzle the world is actually pretty cool, the problem is they completly ignore this massive world they built, and the entire movie is a werewolf, princes love story
@Himarm The world could have been pretty cool, but it isn't because we don't get a sense of it. The film just throws concepts and ideas at the wall to see what sticks, and almost nothing does - the result being that even the stronger aspects of the film feel weak next to all this noise.

Q: When are film soundtracks made?

Zach SaucierAt what point in the process of film creation are the soundtracks/scores usually made? I know that it varies from movie to movie a bit and that most all movies are edited after music has been added to fit with the music better, but how much in advance is this usually done? I'm curious if the com...

16:09
@DrRDizzle Well, I liked... some of those, sure.

1 hour later…
17:11
@CapyStenchbeast awww, no problem Capy. I'm sure that I speak for everyone in here when I say that you are always welcome in here. Now, be a good girl :)
@CapyStenchbeast So, 11 hours and counting?
I thought you'd be back by this morning, so I went in asking about you. Several versions of "the final countdown" are now being played :)
Hehe
I gotta feed Capy and get coffee. Back in a few.
@AnkitSharma Ha! No. I just like the same things that most men like. My sister is the same way.
@AnkitSharma Yes, my dad is great. He sacrificed a career in the military for my sister and I, so we could have a stable childhood. He was pretty strict and protective, but for good reason. My dad is the best :)
@CapyStenchbeast Watched American Werewolf in London lastnight. I feel a question brewing..... I never knew how many unanswered questions I had about that movie.

Q: Early cryptography and spies movie

ItherI remember seeing this hollywood movie on tv. It takes place in late 50's or early 60's about an expert crypographer who work for the US government recruiting women for an office he directs because he thinks that women are better discovering patterns. There are computers but voluminous ones. I r...

@steelerfan Haven't seen it in a loooong time, and I think I've only seen it once.
I'm more familiar with the song.
Just reset Wad's parent site to SF&F
18:07
@CapyStenchbeast Oh, sorry. I guess I just assumed you were a fan of the movie because of the song.
@CapyStenchbeast WOOT!! I will be at work when you finally get to go home. I will be sure to be in there to welcome you home :)
@steelerfan I'm already looking forward to it. :)
@CapyStenchbeast Are you excited because Lucas isn't involved or because you want the franchise left alone?
Lucas can't be trusted with his creation.
He's the reason the prequel trilogy was so bad.
18:11
ahhhh. Gotcha.
The less involvement he has, the better future projects will be.
I didn't mind the prequels. But, I didn't grow up watching the originals either. I remember my husband bitching about them because he grew up with the originals.
I really liked episode 3. I liked seeing how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader.
Ep. III was the least offensive, but they kind of made the Anakin/Vader change feel crammed in as an afterthought. And the birth scene was ridiculous - "Luke! Leia! I'm dead now."
The kid who played Anakin was horrid.
"The Force is actually bacteria farts or something" was basically blasphemous.
There was no reason for Chewbacca to show up. The CGI was god awful. There was too much "comedy".
Yeah. I am sure that if it was part of my childhood, I would be more passionate about it. My husband refused to get the new boxed sets. There are still the original dvd's in my house that has Return of the Jedi as episode 3.
The retcons were hugely problematic. R2D2 clearly knew Obi Wan, knew about Vader/Luke, knew everything about everything, but for some reason, acted like he didn't know shit in the original trilogy.
One of the funniest scenes in the original trilogy is this:
But it doesn't make sense after the prequel trilogy. If R2 and Yoda knew each other, why would they fight over a stupid flashlight the first time they see each other in 20 years?
The Jedi look like suckers in the prequels, and are killed far too easily.
18:22
I don't know. I guess I didn't pay attention. I have only seen them all one time.
I'm just bitching.
I didn't notice ;)
The Force = bacteria farts thing is by far the most offensive part of the PT
Natalie Portman was pretty horrid too.
Time to go to the pool. Catch you later :)
And Ewan MacGregor could have been amazing, but the scripts were garbage.
@steelerfan Have fun

Q: Identify children's animal show

LisaMy four year old watched a cartoon that had squirrel looking creatures traveling by spaceship around the earth to learn about different animals. We cannot remember the name! Any ideas??

Q: Why does the boom operator have to hold the boom mic by hand?

Capy Stenchbeast This woman is a boom operator. She holds a long stick with a big microphone on one end, to record sound on movie and television shoots. If you've ever tried to hold something over your head for a long time - or even just hold your hands over your head for a long time - you can imagine how tir...

My first behind the scenes question!
What's Napeleon's name now?
@CapyStenchbeast It's how they work on their arm muscles.
18:53
Seriously... most boom ops have amazing arms.
It's also a form of torture - I think the technical term is "stress position".
@Catija They'd have to.
But I'd imagine the great arms come later, and are primarily built up for the sake of their jobs, not the other way around.
It's not like they recruit bodybuilders to work as boom ops, is it?
Why isn't Nap pingable?
@NapoleonWilson
He is for me
Anyway if you saw him @Cat, tell him MAR is curious why he registered for TRE.
@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. What's TRE?
18:55
@CapyStenchbeast Oh, then it's a chat bug for me.

Q: The Great Retagging Event - Episode 1: The one-taggers

Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ.                 TRE will be held at $\ldots$? Famous final words The Retagging Event (TRE) What good is in working so much on cleaning tags if they're not applied to questions? I thought, we should do something extraordinary. Oh no Rationale Editing questions bumps them up; and so...

@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. Well, you're one to talk... I can't ping you at all with your non-standard characters.
@Catija - Do my suggestions make sense as alternatives?
@CapyStenchbeast From the point of view of someone who's been on set, what the still images don't show you is the fact that the boom is nearly constantly in motion.
@Catija - when I type "@", it pops up.
@Catija ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ
Seriously though, just type @ and press tab.
18:58
Even in a shot with only two characters, the boom isn't steady over the middle space between them... it usually swings back and forth to make sure to catch what each person is saying as closely as possible.
@CapyStenchbeast I'm giving him a hard time.
@Catija Oh. Never mind then.
@Catija Couldn't have failed any worse.
For all that a person is wearing a lav, occasionally the audio from a lav isn't good due to hard breathing, heartbeats, crinkly fabrics... etc... so the boom is still an important audio recording and needs good-quality sound.
@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. Shoo, you.
18:59
But couldn't you hold/move the boom some other way?
