What's wrong with that sunday? A fucking 15 ID questions? That's worth dropping the politeness of using "friggin". Was the site just advertized in the totally wrong circles or where did this suddenly come from? Or has someone just told everyone on the net to break this site apart?

Q: Movie where husband is killed and wife ends up surrogate mother to weird murderous jungle children?

NojuanEspecialI am trying to remember a movie I saw a few years ago. Unfortunately, I only remember bits and pieces, so here's everything I remember (and I hope, but make no promises that, I'm remembering it right), in no particular order: The movie was in color and on dvd, not too terribly old, I think. It ...

A: Why did Cersei Lannister start a physical relationship with her brother Jaime?

TheTechnicalAnswerWell, if you want the technical answer, Jaime and Cersei first pretended to have sex when they were as young as six years old, it might even have been younger. As for the first time they actually did it, it would have been perhaps even the day after Cersei's first period ended (probably twelve or...

So how does it answer the question? — Ankit Sharma ♦ 6 secs ago

@AnkitSharma I don't think it does... but I've never actually read the books, so I don't know if the backstory exists somewhere... Based on his UN and the way he started his answer, I'm guessing it's a troll.

Q: USA movie about a girl was killed cause she had affair with brother in law and became ghost and came back to revenge

kevinThis movie is a old one, before year 2000 (I think). @NapoleonWilson Christening the challenge with one of yours. ;)

8:40 AM
@Walt Yeah, finally you took the courage. I hoped this would be one of the questions tackled, as the answer seemed near enough to grasp.
I already have millions (i.e. ~50) on my list I'll try to find the time for, too. (Of course I have to spare me from paying that bounty by answering as many questions as possble, and downvoting all the other answers.)
@Catija Seeing that it's Game of Thrones, I'll not write that off as nonsense. But true or not, I agree that it doesn't really proide that much of an answer (but could probably be fleshed out to do so). That being said, you'd wonder how many one-shot users give themselves user names fitting to their one and only question/answer. Doesn't need to mean he's talking crap.
@TomatoBot Meh, didn't hear much good about that yet, and I don't give a damn about Die Antvoord. Probably still going to watch it, afterall Elysium was pretty enjoyable, too, be it only for audiovisual and atmospheric reasons.
@Walt And "christening" was the wrong word, that A Few Good Men guy was 2 minutes faster than you. ;-P

@NapoleonWilson Argh! Ankit, you scallywag
@NapoleonWilson Didn't til now because I prefer to shy away from 'It's unknown' answers since they could always be wrong
So using this challenge as an opportunity to do it. Just posted another one like that about the Sopranos

@Walt Well, of course they have to be well-reasoned, which that one fortunately is.

It helps that I saw both shows more than once :)
(shrewdly leaving out the actual number of times!)

And afterall, that's what this challenge should motivate a bit, for people to try and answer something that they are not entirely sure if they can answer it, but might have something in mind already. That's especially often the case with such supposedly unanswerable questions.

@NapoleonWilson True, and I should do it more often
Instead of resorting to the ID section where you can be like 80% sure that you're right

And I'm so glad that after the cleanup there's 100 ID questions fewer to "pollute" that challenge, muhahaha!

10:26 AM
...though I'll try to get to those too ;)
BTW the data query you put up in Meta malfunctions
(probably because it generates too many results)
But no worries, there are other ways, as you mentioned
Anyway, probably just 2 challenge entries from me today, have to get back to work :(

@Walt No, it shouldn't. It generates 212, all the unanswereds before graduation.
But Ok, I recently fixed it to Movies & TV it once was for Stack Overflow.
The only disadvantage it has is, that it doesn't show the ones that already have answers from the challenge period. So it can't be used to check for results, too. But I'm trying to fix that too. Unfortunately I'm far from an SQL expert, though.

11:02 AM
So, query fixed, now it always lists all eligible questions, no matter if they got answered already during the challenge.

11:28 AM
This also give me the chance to cleanup old comments which are useless now and raise new.
Shit in first round got only two answers, will go for second detailed round later.
@Walt I am a crazy TOW fan, so i will always try until i am completely disinterested in topic or doesn't have anything to ask or answer.

Q: What is a post-Star Wars film starring Mark Hamill where near the end he's sneaking inside a woman's home and is attacked on her stairs?

MaxI'm pretty sure it was Mark Hamill in the film (as I know for sure at the time I saw it that I believed it was him) and I believe his character was with a woman in said home, but this woman screams for whatever reason, making their presence known to whoever was living there.

Q: What's the point of Pi's love interest?

@NapoleonWilson English, and awesome

"If you're in my position, days are like women. Each one is so goddamn precious, and they always end up leaving you."

you need to tell me from which movie or tv show the quote is from, approximately where/when in the show, etc
otherwise I can't sample it

@Flyk Aw, that's too difficult. But the quote's from Napoleon Wilson, obviously!

but I need

Doesn't seem to be the exact quote though, did you type it from memory?
and isn't Napoleon Wilson the character's name

7:40 PM
@TrishLing Of course, who else do think the quote's from? Darwin Joston apparently not.
@TrishLing Took it right out of youtube, but maybe my ears aren't perfect, though.

your phrasing made it seem like Napoleon Wilson was the movie name.
that's all I meant

@TrishLing Movies don't say quotes, characters do. ;-P

@NapoleonWilson ah but you said "from", not "said"

@TrishLing You mean "by", but sure, got a point. Language barrier, but you're right.
Anyway, anyone else with any more quotes with exact minute marks for kalina?
@Flyk You're doing some actual real song?

8:06 PM
@NapoleonWilson erm
you know I make music for a living, right?
ok I shall be less ambiguous
I really like the sample at the end of the movie "Constantine" where Gabriel says "You're handed this... special gift, each one of you, granted redemption from the creator. In all the worlds in all the universe, no other creature can make such a boast, save man... murders, rapists, molesters... all of you, you just have to repent... it's not fair"
not only because it's a nice meaningful sample
but also because "it's not fair" makes a great hook

I wouldn't have guessed for people to jump onto that challenge that much on the first day. Makes me wonder if two weeks aren't too long. And I always thought people don't give damn about those challenges, but I guess answering is indeed much easier than asking (or the bounty is more motivating than I thought).

Q: Are adult movies (as far as industry, actors, etc... are concerned) on topic?

DVKI asked the question in a way that I think should avoid offending anyone (e.g. "no links to adult sites or names of porn movies in answers, please"). Who was the first actor/actress who made the move from porn to non-porn movies full time? However, I'm worried if even having adult movies theme ...

But the consensus regarding ID questions specifically is a bit less favourable of them:

Q: Are questions requesting that pornographic films be identified on-topic here?

senshinI am curious to know what this site's policy on identify-this-movie questions about pornographic films are. I have read the discussion at Are adult movies (as far as industry, actors, etc... are concerned) on topic?, but that question is 2+ years old now, and doesn't quite address this specific i...

Yeah, I agree with the first one (and the sample questions) I feel that ID questions go a bit far... I don't want to get caught knowing porn really well ;)
... which wouldn't happen because I don't know porn at all... which is another reason why it might not make sense here... though I'm sure there are many film lovers who also like porn... I don't know that there's enough of a crossover for us to have any chance of actually being able to answer the questions... assuming there's enough to go by. Even an actor name might not be enough with how prolific some of the porn stars are.

@Catija Well, it's not that the site becomes porn.se, though. The questions have been very rare, the few ones that survived were worth it and the shitty ones got killed pretty fast anyway. And fortunately enough most porn ID questions are downright bad questions on their own anyway. So I guess it's far from being an actual problem, yet. Mostly because most reasonable users know that it's a difficult topic that needs careful control and will act accordingly.

Oh, I know. I said it doesn't happen often in my first comment about it.

@Catija If you have anything to add to the existing discussion, though, feel free to do so. Or even ask a new question if you feel it needs reconsideration after 3 years.

I'll keep that in mind. I think I've seen 3-4 questions in the month or so I've been around, so it's definitely not a big deal. I can't imagine the difficulties Anime has with all of the hentai... and they get tons of identify questions based on images... though they try to quash those as much as they can.

11:13 PM
I wouldn't dare to answer such a question that much anyway, simply because porn knowledge is not really something I'd go soliciting with.

So Tomorrowland looks like it could be super fun: youtube.com/watch?v=AjBLszpEk0o

Looks interesting. I'm still undecided who looks hotter more attractive, Hugh Laurie with a stubble beard or Hugh Laurie without a beard.

11:35 PM
@NapoleonWilson 'ID this commercial' and 'ID this music video' are pretty rare too, yet we outright ban them. So can't we just outright ban 'ID this adult film\show' too?

@Walt Well, if we take a heavily upvoted meta discussion for granted, they effectively are.

OK, make it official somehow. Get a notary :P
(So we can at least have a link to refer OPs to)

11:47 PM
porn ID questions get closed pretty darn quickly anyway.
