5:02 PM
Anyway, how do you call a fisherman who doesn't fish?
...

@CapyStenchbeast That's not a bug; it's a feature. Dachshunds are boat shaped and one and a half dogs long.
@NapoleonWilson With a phone?

Well, at least not a fisherman. \o/

I'm going to need this explained until I feel stupid.

call him man atleast

Nothing to explain, a fisherman who doesn't fish is obviously not actually a fisherman. What did you expect. ;-P

5:05 PM
lol :)

A punchline.
:D

Your fault then.

Napoleon, you so funny :)

@steelerfan That's sweet of you, but we all know you find everything funny. ;-)

@NapoleonWilson That's very true. I am easily amused :)

5:11 PM
Well, there's worse character traits for sure.

Oh, I have some. You guys just never see them :)

Do tell.

I get annoyed easily at bullies, people with no compassion or empathy.

@steelerfan But that's not a bad trait either, though (the getting annoyed, not the bullying, of course).

Those are noble traits. Dig deeper!

5:17 PM
@NapoleonWilson Yeah. My nephew is getting bullied at school right now and it breaks my heart :(

@steelerfan Well, if anyone's a bigger asshole than bullies, it's teenage bullies.

I hate slow drivers. I don't know.... I am a very easy going person.

Still counting that one as noble, because no one likes slow drivers. Even slow drivers.

@NapoleonWilson Agree! There is nothing I can do about it either!

What kind of bullying is he experiencing?

5:20 PM
@Axelrod I am an impatient driver. I have a lead foot.

@steelerfan There we go.
I do, too, if I don't watch myself. It runs in the blood.

@Axelrod Just kids picking on him because he is into comics and art and stuff. Accusing him of being gay. Asshole kid stuff.

@steelerfan Unfortunately he'll just have to go through this. It gets better in university, where people realize that such behaviour won't get them any far and are much more similarly interested.

I'm surprised, with all the junk that's popular now, that these bullies still exist.

Indeed, every average joe is into superheroes now.

5:23 PM
Yeah, no solution there except to tell him to find friends of like hobbies and form a group.

@NapoleonWilson Yeah, my brother in law does not get it, he is more of a "mans man" and I don't think he had to deal with bullies, but my nephew is awesome, he rises above it.

The good news: As long as he keeps his chin up, he'll be an awesome guy.

Well, there are still kids that think you need to play sports in order to be cool.

Yeah, but even being good at a sport doesn't do it for them. Dodgeball was my sport. No kudos were earned.
And being a football player is a path to the dark side these days.

He has a group of 5-6 friends. He is not alone at least.

Q: Identify silent film where main character hops through town

Pete BeckerThis might have been Buster Keaton, but I'm not sure. The film was about two minutes long, and the main character just hopped up and down (on two feet) constantly while moving around town.

Goood, goood, now introduce him to D&D...

@Axelrod Very true!

Gotta get back to work. Later everyone :)

Good luck!

Q: Please tell me the name of movie

user27856I saw a movie and it has same theme as that of Malena(2000). It that movie the woman was abandoned by villagers and her house was on a small hill and she starts affair with a boy and after few days, the villagers burn her house. It is narrated by the actor who is old man and it was happened when ...

Why our coffee lover @JimmyHoffa so silent from months weeks

6:53 PM
Why did Caitlin whatshername win an award, and why do people care so much? I don't follow celebrity gossip, and I refuse to click links to celeb gossip sites.

@AnkitSharma Happy Coffee Day

Happy Coffee Night ....as per IST :D

@CapyStenchbeast Jenner?

And I'm proud to call myself a hetero cis ally, but I'm not sure that being transgender warrants awards. It's courageous, but you're becoming who you are, not saving orphans from a fire.
@steelerfan That's the one.

@CapyStenchbeast Some movie dialogue :O?

6:59 PM
@CapyStenchbeast I believe she got an award given by ESPN. I don't know what it is for though.
@CapyStenchbeast I am going to keep my opinions to myself on this one :)
@CapyStenchbeast Thanks for the husky pic last night. My sister really needed that. We literally could not stop laughing for half an hour :))

No problem.
I'm trying to find more examples for my answer to this question:
6
Q: Has there ever been a chain of art imitating life, and life returning the favour, like the one involving the film Taxi Driver (1976)?

Daniel StowersThe 1976 film Taxi Driver featured the character Travis Bickle, whom screen-writer Paul Shrader based on Arthur Bremer, who tried to assassinate presidential hopeful George Wallace in 1972 to impress a girl. In Taxi Driver, loner Travis Bickle (played by Robert DeNiro) planned to assassinate a l...

Any suggestions? The idea is "real event inspires movie, then the movie inspires real life event".

@CapyStenchbeast Did you use the guy who shot Reagan?

@steelerfan That's the one the question is based on.

@CapyStenchbeast Sorry, I didn't finish reading the question....

I'm tempted to add The Doors movie/Jim Morrison goes from statuesque heartthrob to bloated mess/Val Kilmer plays Morrison, then goes from being statuesque heartthrob to bloated mess.

7:09 PM
@CapyStenchbeast oooohhhhh.... Nice one! I love Jim Morrison. I need to think about this...
This is gonna bug me now. There is one that I used to talk about all of the time. I cannot think of it now! Arghhhh! Awesome question!
I remember watching a documentary type movie with John Lennon. He went to a psychic and they told him he would die in a "decade" year (I.e.1980,1990) The movie was shot in October of 1980. Lennon said "I doubt I will die in the next 2 months"....weird.

Uh sorry, but that answer seems to completely miss the topic at all.
Which is really unfortunate, since it superficially seems to be a good answer on the very first broad look.

7:30 PM
@NapoleonWilson I think there are two exceptions: Scrubs and Rage. The others might be better called "honorable mention", because they are all "life imitates art, plus something else". And the 2001 example is art/life/art instead of life/art/life.
I have plenty of examples of life/art/life, but they don't involve movies.

7:58 PM
@CapyStenchbeast Meh, The line in Scrubs doesn't seem to be based on a real incident either. Neither does it seem to be the Russian movie that isnpired the school shootings rather than the king book. I'm still missing a reall straight on 100% correct example in what is a humongous list of examples.

@NapoleonWilson I wouldn't call 8 examples "a humongous list", and I really do think the two I mentioned - Scrubs and Rage - are apt. The line in Scrubs was based on a real life hunt for a real person.

@CapyStenchbeast Well, sure, but that real life hunt was really just a general circumstance. It wasn't that the Scrubs episode was deliberately based on the hunt for Bin Laden and presented its own interpretation thereof. But granted, that might be debatable, doesn't hold for me at least.

@NapoleonWilson And I just found my favorite example so far, albeit a backwards one (i.e., art-life-art, not life-art-life). Man sees The Godfather starring Al Pacino. Man robs bank, basing his tactics on a scene in the movie. Man becomes the subject of the film Dog Day Afternoon, in which he is played by... wait for it... Al Pacino.

Sure, the word "humungous" might be open to interpretation, too, but from a huge 8 example answer I would hope that at least one actually answers the question as asked.
@CapyStenchbeast Unfortunately the other way around, though (even if generally an interesting incident, just not an answer).

Plus, the whole thing was made into a documentary, so it's art-art-life-art.

Q: powerfull space beings

buff22are there any movie or tv show that depicts meeting a humanlike space being with great power and intelligence.i saw a tv series with a spacecraft that very intelligent computer monitors.the crew met a humanoid space being that rocked there ship with cosmic thunder then he appeared on the monitors...

8:59 PM
@CapyStenchbeast Seriously, I know you love that huge example post, but an answer doesn't get better from millions of only marginally related information that doesn't contribute to the actual answer. While exhaustive answers are a good thing, there is a "too long", especially when the majority of information is simply irrelevant for the actual answer. But to each his own, so far I'm apparently the only one who has a problem with that answer anyway.
Maybe it's simply the list question nature that shows. Be it multiple unrelated example answers or a single large one, it looks quite like the classic "list question" symptom.

Fair enough. I think I've added a couple more examples that are closer to the mark, but I'll leave it alone until I find something that fits perfectly. Long answers are one of my trademarks.

@CapyStenchbeast There's nothing wrong with long, though. I like long answers, too. Problem is when the length doesn't actually add anything.

This might be the best example I've found:
"To protect and serve":

LAPD cruisers were emblazoned with the department's motto: "To Protect and Serve". Because so many films and television shows are produced in LA, those shows and movies began to use the slogan on police cars onscreen. Because the slogan was so familiar from entertainment, other police departments adopted it and painted it on their own vehicles.
Direct chain of correlation and causation, from life to art and back.

Indeed.

Q: How long was each Squinterns' turn at the Jeffersonian?

cdeIn Bones, after Zack's face-heel turn into the Gormogon's Apprentice ended with his incarceration (commitment?), the assistant internship (fellowship) position was filled with various people, all grad students of Dr. Brennan. These Squint Interns (or Squinterns as Booth once called them), Some le...

9:12 PM

I already wondered when that would come.

The LAPD is also one of the most notable police departments when it comes to brutality.

WOW. AMC is making a super-hard-sell of the new Into the Badlands series.

Mothers, don't let your sons grow up to be cowboys.
@CapyStenchbeast Ever. Single. Commercial break.

I just got an email from them calling it "the perfect companion series to The Walking Dead."

I guess Fear just got thrown under the bus.

"It’s the first time I’ve been on set not yet knowing what the character’s gonna look like. I mean talk about secrecy!”
In an era of oversaturation, where it’s common for nearly every major joke and reveal to be spoiled by a movie’s trailers and marketing campaign, The Force Awakens has been a cinematic anomaly, parcelling out carefully chosen nuggets of information that have generated unprecedented levels of excitement without revealing much about what audiences will be seeing next month.
For fans, it’s a welcome change that’s largely kept the notorious internet spoiler machine at bay — but for studios anxious to control how every facet of how a movie is perceived in order to maximize box office and hype, it could be the new blockbuster template.

I think they misunderstand why leaks do what they do.
They tell people when something is garbage. If your movie is garbage and too much is leaked, people will know it's garbage.

@CapyStenchbeast Oh my, I guess if any studio doesn't have to fear dragging enough people into the movie, it's be the guys releasing Star Wars.

@NapoleonWilson Yeah, the movie could consist of Ewoks farting for two hours and it would still turn a profit.

They already did that. Link to the Ewoks cartoon

9:43 PM
I made more ciabatta today :D This time I made them sandwich-sized.

@Catija Nice!

Oh man. I want to bake now.

Q: Identify this movie/telefilm featuring Heather Graham

SS-3.1415926535897932384626433I once watched a movie or telefim. Here are the details I remember: The main actress was Heather Graham. The story revolves around her. She wanted to be a music superstar, but working as a waitress in a restaurant. The money was the main hurdle in achieving her dream (this is what she thought)....

@Catija beautiful.

9:52 PM
@CapyStenchbeast :D Thanks! I hope they make good sandwiches!

@Catija Like, "food porn" beautiful.

@CapyStenchbeast Wow, that's high praise :D

Bah weep grah nah wheep ninni bong

@NapoleonWilson That was not actually a suggestion to answer the question. I was just stating an eerie coincidence.

@steelerfan Oh, I know, I was referring to the existing answer anyway. Sorry for the confusion.

@NapoleonWilson Oh, sorry :)

Q: Is Gwyneth Paltrow’s head shown?

Steven PennyDuring the climax of the movie Seven, the audience is lead to believe that Mills’ wife, Tracy (Gwyneth Paltrow), has been killed and her head is in the box. At any point in any version of the film, even for one frame, is her severed head actually shown? I have not seen the head myself upon watc...

OMG. That movie was disturbing.
I usually find certain things very disturbing in movies. Rape being one of them. Seven did not have that, but still disturbing.

@CapyStenchbeast Yeah, that's indeed exactly what I was about to say about the situation, too, actually.

@NapoleonWilson It was almost too obvious, really.

I always forget that Christian Slater is in Star Trek VI.

What is the deal with Gwenyth Paltrow's head?

@steelerfan Have you even seen Se7en?

@NapoleonWilson Yes, I was just curious what prompted you guys to be talking about her head

Napoleon linked the question.
In response to Capy linking the box thing
In response to ...

Somebody random texted me a photo of some guy with a birthday cake.

10:50 PM
I am slow today :(

I don't know.

@steelerfan Well, a completely random image posted by Wad Cheber's dog. What else?

@Catija better than a random text about a birthday suit ;)

@steelerfan True.
I sent them back the photo of my little ciabatta.

@Catija You've just signed up for a world of confusion.

10:51 PM
@Catija that's awesome!

@Axelrod Well... he started it.

@NapoleonWilson ahhhh...gotcha :)

@Catija And you sent him a pic of your little loaf. Encouragement!
Texting random cell phone numbers should be a thing.

^ The photo I got.

An old man too! Bonus!

11:05 PM
@Catija Well, you know his name is Al :)

@steelerfan Indeed :D And he possibly works for UPS?

And he is 13 years old, judging by the number of candles.

11:19 PM
@CapyStenchbeast Maybe he's actually 130?

@Catija I was going to say that, but I decided I was too lazy to type it.

@Catija Ha! I saw that :))

@CapyStenchbeast OMG!! LOL!!! :))

11:37 PM
OMG. Poor Napoleon will have to be put on anxiety meds after all of this :))

He'll be all:

@CapyStenchbeast Thanks, stalker ;-))

Oh Snap!

Hey @steelerfan! Sorry I appear to have interrupted husky pics!

I actually just opened the window as you said it. I haven't been paying much attention. Just being grey.
