Trying to write a trigger to maintain data and prevent overwriting of specific columns on selected records.

Environment: Toad for MySQL 6.3 and MySQL Server 5.6 on Windows 7
Whenever I perform any query, the Editor in Toad pauses for 2 seconds. This happens every time.
Example:
show tables; (Duration 0:00:00.044)
Cursor disappears for 2 seconds so I can't execute any other query until it comes back....
I just want to know , what is different between systemadmin and DBA's.
I am systemadmin and in my company there is Oracle and Mysql Server and DBA team too.
But my intention is what are the thing systemadmin know-how about Database.

My solution worked in my test environment but I guess something got lost in the retyping. Anyway I have deleted my answer and I aplogise for any offence caused by my comments. — APCMar 27 at 15:22
Ayway he's been here for years, just isn't very active.
@Phil we get a few oracle questions a day but perhaps not so many decent ones. Hopefully that volume will increase and we'll gradually get better known in the Oracle world—one thing we can do is keep a special eye on suitable Oracle questions on SO that should really be over here
