I H8 TEAMS
Installed the app on my work mobile b/c...
oh, "Teams" as in the app.
08:24
TEAMS: Please enter a PIN to secure your work account
ME: <enters pin from work account>
TEAMS: Your pin may not contain any sequences
ME: <enters pin from home> (length: 12 digits)
TEAMS: Your pin has to be 6 digits long
ME: <enters pin based on current mood>
TEAMS: Thank you
ME: (two days later) WTF is my pin?
1Password to the rescue?
@Zikato Joe Obbish
damn, I was just about to figure it out.
In my defence, I only saw him once. He doesn't have an avatar on SE. Thank you nevertheless
@Zikato Extensions for your browser are disabled by your organization. Please contact your administrator
08:37
you can still note it down on your mobile manually
Yes, I know.
I was aiming more for the aspect of: your PIN hast to be so unique (in limitations) that you PIN is not usable
Let's see if anyone gets it
09:31
@J.D. If it's up to 1/5 of the speed of an SSD it's improved quite a bit over the last time I touched it. Is business critical still 1500-8500?
10:17
@SeanGallardy I've been imagining this for the better part of two decades now but nobody will f-ing listen. It's sad how cheap a basic wintel server with some flash is and how much it runs rings around any cloud platform for performance.
10:54
@Zikato Joe Oddish 😄
11:07
well done!

My memory of the first 151 Pokémon endures.
12:34
I refuse to recognize the rest
The definitive picture, I believe, was:
@ConcernedOfTunbridgeWells I was going off loose memory from what I last saw. But they did recently drop an update to improve the IOPs of the Gen Purpose tier, so it's possible I'm not overstating it despite how crappy it is still.
@PaulWhite the golden banana joe
@J.D. are you talking about managed instance?
12:52
@ErikReasonableRatesDarling 🤷‍♂️ the Cloud doesn't interest me enough to remember what I read about it, and the Mets lost last night...
If I can find the announcement/article, I'll link it.
oh there's a gpv2 that's not out of preview yet where iops are supposed to be better
It is difficult to be interested. The last thing I saw was about txn log throughput maybe
@ErikReasonableRatesDarling that might be it.
they supposedly made an improvement a while back that wasn't such of a much
It's hard to get interested in disk as a rest service across the internet
12:55
everyone said it was ~as good as bc~
British Columbia?
business critical sir
GP = General Purpose = Your disk lives across the internet
BC = Business Critical = Your disk is local
well, local-ish
Your data is only ever an http request away

I lost my recycle bin from Windows ages ago
I can still find it by searching
But
13:15
OMG that got me so good
That's getting shared.
hold on
lemme add a darling data logo to that
i want everyone to know
Ok
I'm happy to throw chaos grenades
done and done
@ErikReasonableRatesDarling Would you like that to replace the starred message?
I restored my Recycle Bin
13:26
@PaulWhite no that's okay
oops
It's ok I speak ED
At least you changed the reply-to link without deleting the message and reposting like some dolphins
I had to right-click in an empty area on the left pane of explorer and choose "show all folders". None of the other myriad options menus allow the Recycle Bin to be shown by default. As far as I can tell, anyway.
Intuitive
Big (Relational) Data is Dead (BOZNL) : Post from last year that has stood the test of time. I would say, though, that it's still a problem for AI model training.

Anybody still using pi-hole?
@JohnK.N. occasionally
why?
13:48
Just wondering. I added the EFF extension to my browser and boy/girl is there a lot of information being passed on even with pi-hole activated.

14:16
you know chat was on a good roll there for a minute
despite @J.D. making the mets lose
@ErikReasonableRatesDarling gave my best efforts with dinner last night.
i hope other jon is going alright
did he show up this morning smelling like spoiled balsamic vinegar (fernet)
14:46
@ErikReasonableRatesDarling Everyone loves this, good job

This might be a dumb question, but I've never had to deal with it before. My niece's hard drive died. No backups. I have a spare hard drive. But how do I get Windows 11 back on there? I assume it came pre-installed with a licensed copy of Windows, but is that just, like, lost now? It's a DELL optiplex desktop, bought used (no recovery media).
@JoshDarnell Most of those have keys in the firmware, just reload Windows 11 as you would normally (boot from USB installer) and it should find the key
@SeanGallardy Oh, nice! I didn't expect that. Okay, cool - I'll just try loading Windows from USB tonight and see how it goes.
Thanks, @Sean 😀
you could always boot from linux
and turn her into a dork
19:17
Haha I can just imagine how that would go down.
"here I fixed your computer"
"...I don't think you did."
