@ypercubeᵀᴹ I think Airbus was essentially descended from the consortium that built Concorde. BAC and Aerospatiale were the main players behind Concorde. BAC went on to become British Aerospace, which owned a shareholding in Airbus until sometime in the 2000's. Aerospatiale is still a major shareholder in Airbus.
Today's Airbus SE is the product of international consolidation in the European aerospace industry tracing back to the formation of the Airbus Industrie GIE consortium in 1970. In 2000, the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) NV was established. In addition to other subsidiaries pertaining to security and space activities, EADS owned 100% of the pre-existing Eurocopter SA, established in 1992, as well as 80% of Airbus Industrie GIE. In 2001, Airbus Industrie GIE was reorganised as Airbus SAS, a simplified joint-stock company. In 2006, EADS acquired BAE Systems's remaining 20% of...
The origins are pretty convoluted.
At the end of WWII there were at least a dozen aircraft manufacturing firms in the UK. Now the industry has pretty much consolidated down to British Aerospace, QinetiQ (formerly Royal Ordnance Factories IIRC and largely in the business of manufacturing stuff that goes bang) and Vickers. The Merkin industry has largely consolidated down to Boeing, Lockheed Martin and a small handful of independent companies.

@ConcernedOfTunbridgeWells ah thnx!

Still, the naysayers will say it's not as good as Oracle Database, or even PostgreSQL.

@MaxVernon what do you think they will say about MySQL?

I wonder how long before we see GPU support for analytic queries on SQL Server
GPU accelerated column stores
If they supported a PDW mode and GPU accelaration on mainstream versions of SQL Server I would see little point in buying a product like Netezza.

@jadarnel27 "number one database!"

@MaxVernon Makes sense =)

Anyone use Toad 13 and Windows 10 by chance that would be willing to help with some setup issues?

@JoeW if you're having a specific error message, or problem, it's probably best to ask the question on Database Administrators main.

I am getting a cannot load OCI and wasn't sure if that would be ontopic or not

@JoeW good question. Have you tried the Toad forums?
what is an OCI ?

One of the drivers that is part of the instant client. I would try the forums but my login is messed up so hard to get info there
