@PaulWhite You're probably right, as usual. OP meant to say that they found another way of getting the correct result. Who knows, they never responded.

Not much to see in the query plan, they're both internal table functions, presumably straight from C++.

@PaulWhite Quite how you get a buffer overrun in a managed language I don't know, oh wait they have a 30 year old codebase written in C and C++ who'd have guessed?
