12:17 AM
No chickens were moistened with mayonnaise, or otherwise harmed here today. And so help me cod.

1 hour later…
1:31 AM
excuse me
that recipe was for cod
who brought chickens into this

1 hour later…
2:45 AM
Chickens fill the void where there's no cod
And cod can't be everywhere at once, especially if the mayonnaise is in short supply
@PaulWhite Ironically? That's the very definition of the effect. Or did I miss the irony²?
oh well. what we need is a comic of IronyMan™

a plethora of fix-up bodge jobs is the hallmark of a well-designed system
I'm gonna quote you in the report I'm preparing ;)

Welcome to. I'll invoice separately

did someone say invoice

Morning
Or should I say, Mornay
Guess I was feeling saucy
That mayonnaise thing is an abomination, though

@PaulWhite nice chat room you've got here. be a shame if something happened to it.

eek
is there anything we can do to avoid anything bad happening?
any sort of scheme we could join?

perhaps i can interest you in an invoice

heh heh heh
consider it paid in full

or maybe someone can help me dupe close this question: dba.stackexchange.com/q/313859/32281 with this one: dba.stackexchange.com/q/176666/32281

5:00 PM
paid. in. full;

I guess the bodge jobs have started. I got -10 rep taken from the Mathematics account yesterday

Voting ring detected

indeed
if it's analogous to one's total rep, I should expect -1000 in dba ;)

5:28 PM
@PaulWhite ~attitude~
what happened there

@ErikDarling see the revision history
there are no deleted comments
dude seems to require handholding to check permissions and whatnot
not personally interested

kinda feel like migrating it to super user
Don't down vote my post unless you have an answer. I don't think I have ever gotten help here. It seems if I can't figure it out then no one here can — Tony 44 secs ago

@ErikDarling previous question: dba.stackexchange.com/q/221123/1192 (10k needed)

i wonder if he tried turning of graphics acceleration

I guess we'll never know

maybe i'll leave a comment on his current question to ask about that

> (10k needed)
Here he comes again with an invoice...

I should have said $10k needed yeah missed a trick there

5:52 PM
i would have sued you
that's my line

haven't been sued for ages

A chairde - Morning all!
Paul White - I answered this today - spent a lazy couple of hours working through the regex - how would you solve this without one? Apart from not using comma separated lines as variables that is!

easily

someone wants an invoice

5:56 PM
putting the oi in invoice

a van driver appears
@Vérace-СлаваУкраїні I'll have a look tomorrow. I've been meaning to go to sleep for a while now, just staying up to ensure no drama ensues on main.

jokes! aha! humour!

@PaulWhite i'll keep an eye on it
for a price

I've often thought Database Administrators needed a full-time bouncer
Too much riff-raff

just give me a button that says yerouttaheeaah!

everyone has a plan until they're punched in the face
@MartinZeitler everything has its tradeoffs. Preventing this from ever happening would require a good deal more work than what we ended up doing (especially since the issue is triggered in a number of different ways). And the issue happens infrequently enough that adding additional queries after every vote, or locking posts completely while processing a vote in order to prevent duplicate votes (frequency: approximately 1:20K votes) is adding on a good deal of additional processing to a very common action where the benefit is barely felt (but the impact of the additional queries can be felt). — Yaakov Ellis ♦ 12 hours ago
sigh

It's 7 in the morning where you are - I'd be shattered. Sleep tight!

6am here
well 6:08am
not summer

7 in the evening here!

doesn't it stay light until like 10pm or something this time of year?

You're 13 hours ahead of us...

6:09 PM
then light again about 4am?
@Vérace-СлаваУкраїні 11

More like 10:30 - you can still see the sun on the horizon at ~ 23:30! If there's no cloud - a different ball game entirely!

you're in daylight saving, we're not
Yeah I find it interesting the UK has technically no night time for part of the year
I assume Ireland is close enough to be similar

Yeah - approx. 04:00 - not that I'm up that early v. often! Am now in an east-facing room - can't sleep beyond 06:00 :-(
There are three official definitions of dawn! Maritime, Astronomical and Meterological!

so what i'm gathering here is that time zones are hard even when the two parties are actively discussing current local time

That's why we have UTC!
Vive l'UTC! Ou TUC!

6:12 PM
@ErikDarling they're tougher than collation

Everyone needs to just live in UTC

Make Maritime = Nautical and Meterological = Civil!

My dad was in Met Eireann - our national meterological service. I don't think it was him, but somebody from the service had to testify in some case where a guy had fallen out of his hotel window - tried to blame the lighting and the hotel when my dad said he was probably blind drunk and it was a pity that he hadn't killed himself! :-)
Was annoyed at the waste of staff time!

bit harsh

6:23 PM
lil bit, yea

2 hours later…
8:46 PM
I figure out the problem. It doesn't like having the SQL Express 2017 installed with SQL 2019. Uninstalling 2017 solved the issue. — Tony 1 min ago
