@Nick - Hi, this chatroom is for meta-discussion about questions posted on dba.se or elsewhere (or meta-squared or even meta-cubed). It's also for JEAGL (Jokes Explained At Great Length) and mostly it's for stuff that has nothing to do with IT at all (Covid/Ukraine... current affairs...), but it's not the place to ask questions which belong on the main site. All's quiet here today - so I'll try and kick off a discussion. This (OrioleDB) looks like a very interesting project - basically the start of MySQL style storage engines for PostgreSQL. There's been a lot of work over the past couple of years on developing interfaces to allow different table access methods and this is one of the first of this new breed!

OriOLE.DB sounds like the Spanish version of Oracle.db

I plan to run a few tests - pgbench and such - some of the really techie stuff is a bit over my head, but there are areas where it's (potentially anyway - in many ways) an improvement over the traditional PostgreSQL heap access method!

@McNets It'll give PostgreSQL another advantage over Oracle! :-)
