@PaulWhite Cheers. I guess the rules aren't as black and white as I'd like the world to be.

Through the first TV my parents had, the world did look rather black and white to me. Can't remember if I liked that much but I'm sure I was at least OK with it.

@PaulWhite Some shades could be distinguished but the TV was so old that I think it was hard to set up the contrast correctly. Trying to remember it now, the picture looked nearly literally black and white to me.

Yes. 1974. Black and White. 3 TV channels. BBC1, BBC2, Thames TV (became ITV). Can remember the tune on Thames TV when the London bridge came down.

I have no idea what they were called but you had a little tray with wheels that moved a line indicating what frequency the channel was on

And the written notes with the frequency you needed to aim for when you wanted a channel
