Good morning my friends 🙂

@TomV I am not. How dare you

8:24 AM
Wonderful though

Morning

9:02 AM
Who on earth would even think of hitting the "I hate hats" button

17
Q: How many users hate hats?

Ben MillerOut of sheer curiosity: Are there any statistics on how many users click the "I hate hats" button during Winter Bash?

@TomV And that right there is why I love this site
@TomV Nearly every question I can come up with has already been asked at some stage
@TomV Also, nice hat

Ah, today is going to be a fun day in British politics

@Philᵀᴹ Seems like it is everywhere

@Philᵀᴹ I know right.

9:12 AM
I wonder if we'll still have a government by the end of the day too

@TomV Do we have one now?

@George.Palacios I mean Belgium could very well be without one by the end of the week too

@TomV Ah wow.

And things aren't going so well in France either

I think we're just approaching the great filter. It'll all be fine soon.

9:15 AM
I don't think I ever earned a hat as fast as I did this year.

9:43 AM
Why can't I wear my hat?

@McNets You have to put it on your head!

10:01 AM
No hat for gold badge?

10:11 AM
Maybe that's a secret

Secret hats are the best hats

Anybody knitted a quilt yet?

10:30 AM
@TomV are you using so teams?

10:42 AM
@McNets No i realised I had never visited it when I saw that there was a hat for it, so now would be a good time to go over there

haha

10:54 AM
Can anyone figure out what this guy wants? I'm lost.

@George.Palacios I suppose OP is looking for duplicates. colB values should exists only once at colA

@McNets that would make more sense than what I was assuming

Nice to see so many hats around the place already

@PaulWhite 'tis the season

I am still at 0 hats at dba.se :(

11:06 AM
@George.Palacios indeed. hats are a useful reminder I need to buy some presents
@ypercubeᵀᴹ that's because you haven't adopted a Hat Season name yet

ha, good one!

Juan M on December 12, 2018

The world is full of interesting yearly traditions.  Take for example the tomato and orange throwing events, the buffet for monkeys,  and the cheese rolling festivities.  With such examples of human creativity, we at Stack Overflow could not pass on this opportunity.  We have created and maintained our own yearly tradition – Winter Bash!

This year we are attempting to knit our users together in our love for hats for the 7th year in a row.  And this year, we’ve even added a way for you to get creative without wasting any real yarn.  Starting now (December 12, 2018) and going through …

The buffet for monkeys sounds like lunchtime at my work.

@ypercubeᵀᴹ Nice. I upvoted a ton of those.

@Zane thnx!
It's funny but people downvote even on such a silly question/topic.
Meta ...

@ypercubeᵀᴹ Aw man those are cool glasses

wait….winterbash started already?

@George.Palacios easy to get, just vote on a old question (or answer?, not sure). Old = one year old

@ypercubeᵀᴹ Hold my beer

3:44 PM
@ypercubeᵀᴹ Never enough excuses to be an anus for some people.

Hahaha I didn't realise you could make them tiny
Excellent

https://dba.stackexchange.com/q/224781/68127
is there a consensus on just completely stripping out a user's repro script? like... bravo for the "_completeness_" bit of the MVCE, but the first part is it's meant to be "_minimal_". especially for 👋 **New Users**, I just worry it's a bit aggressive
seems like that could just be some sample data & sample results though, the DDL is just a bunch of extra words
also... why do i fail on markdown? 🤦‍♂️
@George.Palacios wait... tiny beers? tiny hats? tiny anuses? i'm so lost...

@PeterVandivier I feel something like DBFiddle would be exceptionally useful here
@PeterVandivier Join us

@George.Palacios yea... that was a thought i had, glad of the reinforcement though. ty

I guess the problem with a fiddle though is that it's an outside resource and useless to anyone reading the site in a year or so

also true
but if it's "useless" anyway, then the fiddle is a nice middle ground so the New User doesn't feel dumped on. like - they went to the effort of putting up a complete repro script and it just got straight up deleted by higher rep users.

@PeterVandivier Did that happen on the question you linked?

4:03 PM
i was just trying to feel out if that was a sensible instinct before i went in and made that edit.
although now i'm in the fiddle i think i need to wait for the user to clarify what the dbms was. i thought it was mysql, but it looks like it may be sqlite ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

3 hats already
Not sure how. Wasn't really trying
If I make my avatar just pure white, then I'll just be a hat. I'm a genius.
Excellent

What a shit show

@EvanCarroll I despair to be honest.

Good, despair is good. Corbyn is in the background so at least the UK won't go UKIP when the shit really does hit the fan and "the establishment" fails.

@EvanCarroll Well let's see if we still have a government in the morning :)

I'm of the mindset that no government is better than neoliberal government.
So godspeed.
You would think Sinn Fein would have to be the most boring group of radicals in the world to miss the opportunity to push things over the edge.
Swear allegiance, have a vote of no confidence to throw the government out, then don't swear allegiance to the new government...
WHERE IS THEIR STYLE?

Im shocked the DUP lasted as long as they did towing the line to be honest.

4:42 PM
DUP looks to be one of many casualties of May, good on her.

Hah yeah

You think N. Ireland will vote to reunify and stay in the EU?

I don't have a clue anymore.
It's really really hard to make any predictions at this stage

I agree. Here is my take on the chances. It seems pretty likely at this point that the UK won't leave the EU. Which was my prediction early on, and I've got $200 on it so I'm biased but it still seems safe.
But I would put money on the Scottish referendum returning if Ireland reunifies and stays.

@EvanCarroll I'd put money on that eventuality if the Tory government crumbles too - SNP have said they'd back Labour on that condition.
And to be honest at this stage, who could blame them!
And I very much doubt we'll see another Tory majority for a decade or so.

4:49 PM
Labour is still a super shit party.

@EvanCarroll They all are right now I feel

I totally agree, but they're the same idiots that though Tony Blair was a good idea.

@EvanCarroll Home time now, let's see what madness tomorrow brings

I think she'll survive the vote. It's not her job to get a deal done. It's her job to delay the deal so they get a mandate for another vote.

The deal has been delayed more by people who claim to want Brexit more than May.

4:54 PM
I don't think many of the people that claim to "want Brexit" really want Brexit.
And that seems to be evidenced by their before-and-after statements around the time of Brexit.

Excellent now my dog has a hat.

@Zane that’s the dream

Love that oracle sql developer asks you for java pathing and then throws a fit if it doesn't like the java.exe you're using. Is there some reason the installation just doesn't include that or is it just to be a pain in the butt?

Q: Can not import a .sql file of 2.3M

Billal BegueradjI want to import a .sql file through the PHPMyAdmin interface. I am getting this error message: No data was received to import. Either no file name was submitted, or the file size exceeded the maximum size permitted by your PHP configuration. In php.ini file, I have these values: uploa...

^^^ SO question?

I'd think so.

It is about importing a .sql file (having MySQL tables populated with data) — Billal Begueradj 52 secs ago
Still not clear to me
I am going to delete this question because the issue was that I forgot to restart Apache server. Thank you @McNets — Billal Begueradj 33 secs ago

Well at least it's taken care of itself.

6:54 PM
yep

So in 2018, Pg wins DB of the Year again.
my bet is that it gets 2019 too
The absolutely numbers thing is going to make that site very amusing and boring.
For example, the only database with any real upwards momentum that isn't Pg, is Mongo. And it's only growing at 50% the "absolutely number"
so unless you think Mongo is going to growing exponentially, you don't have to make any predictions about Pg or the rest of the scene.
Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL will continue to fall but even if they climb they would have to turn around the trend and actually grow again at the Pg-rate to even be in the game.
MySQL is down -156.82 points ytd. If they stopped that, it'd be amazing. But I don't thin it's worth entertaining when all of the big three are red 50-150pts an uptick of 75 points.

@Zane isn't anything related to Java like that?
My brother is totally not into IT (he works as a logistics manager) but he knows java
> I know Java, it's the software who's splash screen tells you it's time to get a coffee while it's starting, right?

7:39 PM
@TomV Yes. The application is a nightmare.
@EvanCarroll I didn't vote for it.

8:00 PM
It seems to be taking ages to load db-engines.com lol
must be blocked internally or something.
