It's really hard to figure out how much a human skeleton weighs. I've seen answers around the internet of anywhere from 2kg to 30kg, and many answers on the internet are based on bones being 15% of body mass, but presumably a person's bones don't get heavier when she gains weight, so using percentage mass seems highly prone to errors.

9 hours later…
3:03 PM
How was the weekend all?

3:22 PM
@James Pleasantly uneventful.
Yours?

@NexTerren Same. Having trouble not going into major rants about work now that I'm back, though :(

3:40 PM
Holy crap.
I just read that they are making a Witcher TV series on Netflix...
@NexTerren We had thunderstorms this morning, it made it really really difficult to get out of bed.
Also I stayed up to late playing Assassin's Creed.
...but I blame the rain.

@James Yep, and Superman is playing the namesake character. And he visually looks pretty good. If you don't mind spoilers, I'll try to find the makeup test.
@James We had >12 tornado and flash flood warnings within 24 hours back when the storms first hit. And multiple times my town has been so flooded that so many streets were shutdown that you could almost not navigate to downtown.

3:57 PM
@NexTerren Yeah its been an eventful spring/summer so far.

4:10 PM
@NexTerren I wonder if his voice can be gravelly enough to play Geralt.

@James Yup. expected out Q4 this year
Also, I just found out a couple days ago they are making a live action Cowboy Bebop, which I'm kinda excited for

@AndyD273 Because Death Note set such a good example? :D

Didn't watch Death Note (anime or live action)
Yeah, it could suck, but I did say "kinda"

I haven't (really) heard either, but I've heard... stories.
@AndyD273 If we restarted the tabletop as D&D, would you want back in?

I'm mildly curious to watch the live action of DN first, and see if it's terrible knowing almost nothing about the story, then maybe try the anime... but I have been finding it harder to start series lately

4:25 PM
@NexTerren I like the Nerdiest Game Ever; Requires Friends to Play joke.

@Hosch250 Come again?

@NexTerren My time issues remain, and I wouldn't want to start then bail again. I don't know what it's going to be like once school is out.
I thought I had a way to make it work last time, but I was wrong.

@AndyD273 Fair! Sometimes I've had "time" issues as a polite excuse rather than the actual reason, so I thought I'd ask just in case. :)

It honestly was time.

I remember someone here that was interested but in fantasy not cyberpunk. Hm. Trying to remember the name.

4:27 PM
I probably should have stuck to my "I just want to watch" thing, since dropping in to see where the story goes would have been much easier.

@Mithrandir24601 Euron would be taken out by the US Navy while trying to be a pirate. With a couple of riflemen and a ship smaller than his. Cersei would be turned into a housewife rather by force and the Mountain would be taken by either the US or Russian gov for experiments. Drogon would be shot down by an aerial combat fighter jet with its cannon and Dany arrested for terrorism.
I think Dany's would probably be the least humiliating of the group.
I can just imagine Euron, though... He'd be pissed.

@AndyD273 Well if we start back up you're more than welcome to join to watch.

4:53 PM
@NexTerren That would be cool

5:36 PM
Man, Ryzen 3000 is a massive blow to Intel.

5:51 PM
HP uses AMD in a lot of their computers, even running Windows now.
I still prefer Intel for now, but it looks like AMD will have fully caught up by the next time I need one.

6:12 PM
@Hosch250 WaitForBenchmarks.exe, but per the press release they absolutely smash Intel at each price category or performance category, including server.
And historically their on-stage demos are decently close to real life.

@AndyD273 Bebop was hilarious.
I still love the episode where they end up eating a bunch of mushrooms and they all spend the entire episode in separate drug induced trips.

@James Yup. :) hopefully they don't mess it up. Still really early though. Only have the main actors announced so far.

2 hours later…
8:39 PM
Gah. I hate spam calls.

What you do then is go RAAAAAAHAHAAHAAAAAAHAAA down their ear. You'll scare the crap out of anyone in the office with you.

They are just robots that call me

Same here :)
My brother did that down my uncle's ear once.

They don't care if I go RAAHAHAHAAHAHA

@AndyD273 So I live in Nebraska but I still have a phone number from west Texas, all the spam calls I get spoof a 325 area code. I haven't lived there in 10 years so I don't know anyone that still lives there, meaning all the 325 calls I get are spam.

8:42 PM
There is a cool scene in the book Freedomâ„¢ by Daniel Suarez where the Daemon sends agents to track down the spammers and murder them, which reduces the total amount of spam by 95% in a single day...

@AndyD273 I'd support this. Also hackers.
Think about how much simpler, faster, and more accessible things would be if certain people weren't a-holes.

Yeah, I want a nuclear grenade, but I can't have one because of all the terrorists :P

@Hosch250 This is why we can't have nice things...

I think a large number of the hackers end up joining the Daemon, which actually accomplishes the same result, since the darknet operates on a reputation system, and if you act like an ahole you essentially go broke.

Talking about murder, though, my mom fell in with some ex-military guy.
He's already offering to kill some of the wackoes for her...
If my mom likes someone, 100% guarantee that they should be in jail.

8:46 PM
You have an incredibly interesting family life.

IKR?

@Hosch250 I've known a couple people like that...
They just seem to attract strange...

She likes an animal breeder/photographer wacko, the local marijuana dealer, this guy, and for a while someone who claimed to be able to do mental communication with animals.
And another person who practices ancient philosophy/religion stuff.

@Hosch250 This isn't immediately disqualifying to me....
but I am a little weird. I invoke Zeus to be kind when I get on an airplane.

Nah, she fell out after a while since he wasn't weird enough and wouldn't encourage her.
He was actually her shortest crush.
TBH, I don't want to have kids; partly because they'd my folks grandkids.

8:55 PM
@Hosch250 Well, you could move very far away and tell your kids that their grandparents were abducted by aliens

@Hosch250 Eh. You can control access. My family is certifiable some days...its manageable.

No, I don't mean by exposure to them. I mean simply by genetic passing-down.
I've read multiple places that hereditary traits show up strongest in grandkids.

@Hosch250 Just find a very very sable and boring wife.

@Hosch250 Genetics certainly has something to do with behavior, but in the nature vs nurture thing I think nurture plays a bigger role in behavior.

I'd probably have bi-polar kids who got pregnant from each other at 14, knowing my parents...

8:58 PM
@Hosch250 Well...you'd probably end up rich from T.V. appearances.

Or in jail for not preventing my kids from abusing each other...
Likely the later, since I'd homeschool (I've heard enough stories... Including kids forcing each other to eat slugs, etc.).

I don't think it works that way...

@AndyD273 Sometimes it does.

It might be different if you encourage abuse, or knowingly allow it to happen, but otherwise I think it's kind of on them. At least in my state

Yeah, it's unlikely, but it is possible.
TBH, though, the state would likely step in (and for good reasons) if a bi-polar kid got pregnant at 14.

9:06 PM
@Hosch250 Once again I don't know... If they were getting in trouble with the law then definitely, and maybe someone might try to make sure that it's not statutory rape, but if she won't tell who the father is there might not be much they can do. There was a story I heard about a high school in a poorer town up north were roughly 30% of the girls were pregnant at one point.
My dad worked as a social worker for a number of years, and I knew quite a few kids that were in foster care. The state does step in, but it's generally because either the kid got in hot water for behavioural problems, or more common was because of abuse/neglect by the parent.

9:23 PM
@AndyD273 Yeah boredom + teenagers = problems.

9:36 PM
@James Teenagers + Anything = problems
As a once teenager, I have firsthand experience.

@NexTerren Hey, as a teenager I resent grudgingly accept this.

@Bellerophon :)

1 hour later…
11:08 PM
hey there @Mithrandir24601
@James what's the nearest mile marker on I-80 to your location?

Shalvenay wants to know:
Your location
[Allow] [Block]

@NexTerren I don't need that level of precision :) (I was really wondering if they were in the same city as me)
