@AndyD273 Hey, you on? I had a question.

5 hours later…

@JasonClyde I call that answering "sideways". Second and third order effects are some of the most fun to think about.

@Green One really fun one that happened relatively recently was that I was asking a question about how my time-stopping hammerspace would affect the culinary industry (I asked if there was any ingredient that quickly goes bad but which infinite storage would suddenly make usable) and somebody pointed out this ability would basically transform the entire food industry by allowing food to be prepared in advance and then nigh-instantly delivered to the customer, even faster than Burger King can.
Which sounds awesome, but also... what would that do to Burger King and McDonald's and Wendy's? If everyone can suddenly deliver actual restaurant quality food as fast as they can, how much would that eat into their business? Would they even be able to adapt to the new paradigm?
Fascinating questions. I love when stuff like that happens.

@JasonClyde There's still some market for food that you don't need to have a full sit-down meal for so I guess that could let them survive.

True.

12:45 PM
Also, does hammerspace keep food warm?

Time doesn't pass inside the hammerspace
At least not when the gate to the hammerspace is closed.

time doesn't pass in hammerspace
in other words, stop hammer time ?

...
@FailusMaximus I swear that was an accident.

@JasonClyde im not sure it would do much for their competitive advantage. Food waste goes down since keeping food fresh is now easy. Burgers can be cooked in a central facility then shipped to restaurants without loss of quality.

hey there @Green

11:29 PM
@Green It wouldn't do much for their competitive advantage, or wouldn't do much to it?

11:43 PM
Like, do you mean it's not going to help, or it's not going to hurt?

@Shalvenay hey!
@JasonClyde it's not going to hurt.

@Green how're things going?

@Green So basically the fact that they've focused for so long on cheap, quick food isn't gonna hinder them in adapting to making better food now that all food can be made in advance and stored indefinitely?
