What are the best pieces of music you've heard recently (@ Anyone)? Mine arethis piece, this piece, and this.

@FoxElemental There are already so many ways an angry elephant can kill you, like trampling, goring, crushing you with their trunk, dropping a tree on you, suffocating you with poop, etc... Poison seems kinda unnecessary.

@AndyD273 I see your point . . . but I still am going to stick with the idea. There's already so many ridiculous ways to die in my world, like having a butterfly shred you to bits with shadows, a poison jade elephant won't hurt

@James I was watching a video today, and it reminded me of a conversation a couple weeks back about someone believing that science was close to plateauing again... They compared it to a time in the early 1900's where the same belief was had, except for these couple unanswered questions, which ended up making them come up with all kinds of new theories. Right now there are at least 5 science mysteries that could potentially force us to rewrite huge chunks of physics in order to answer them

@James Interesting, though I guess I don't really know what that implies. It does make me wonder though... Since a succubus essentially feeds off of sex, and since they can (apparently) get pregnant (presumably from sex), what kind of demon birth control is available? I mean, it seems like if they have to feed at any regular interval there would be a lot of half demons around.

And a lot more people with some demon blood as the half demons mate.

@AndyD273 The party has been pretty good alignment wise thus far. They all had dreams, the half demon dreamed of her mother (though she didn't know it was her mother at the time). And the other two had dreams that this gate to a plane imprisoning a god needed to be destroyed...

So they get there and meet the succubus who basically offers them power to join her.

...they are conflicted about what to do.

And going down that rabbit trail; In Harry Potter you have this bigotry against half-bloods, but you also have Fleur, who is part Veela, which isn't even human, and no one seems to care. Allowing breeding outside species is problematic.

She is using the gate thing to summon demon servants into the world.

So they have a dream mission to destroy the gate, and then the mother is offering them power to join her (and not destroy the gate)?

Yeah the dream mission is from a god. He basically told them that they need to destroy the gates (there are 5) because he is imprisoned within.

Probably from the imprisoned god

The kicker being that the god IS the prison and releasing him destroys the prison which is full of demons.

Gotcha. I kinda remember now. He's imprisoned because he's containing an ancient evil, but is now bored and thinking he made a bad decision.

So a best case scenario would be to find a way to release the god without releasing the evil. Granted not destroying the gates also isn't great, since they are being used to summon demons anyway. So demons if you do, demons if you don't.

This god was kind of a failure. Probably best to just leave him be.

@AndyD273 The best part is that people think there are two gods because he has gone insane over the course of several millennia and has...well, multiple personality problems. His alter ego is an insane psychotic dark god giving power to evil people but without any real goal or plan.

@AndyD273 Actually that's totally impossible. If you release him the prison is gone because he literally is the prison...the alternate plane is basically his godly essence/spirit.

There are way bigger/stronger/more evil demons still locked up too...

It should be marvelous.

So mother is basically syphoning out the small weak ones... Seems like the kind of thing she'd want to tell her daughter as added incentive to get them to join her

@AndyD273 Yeah she is essentially the most powerful demon that has managed to escape so she controls all the others.

"Look, I may be evil, but I'm not bad. I'm only letting the little ones out, and giving them something productive to do. I'm leaving the real bad ones alone"

@James Perhaps we don't. But magic is a really good way to explain some more out-there phenomena, or certain beings. Though I agree that science can do most of it, sometimes, when well applied, there's really nothing like handwavium for enrichment.

@FoxElemental I think you can come up with a sciency sounding explanation for most magical phenomena, if you wanted to, but just saying Magic frees you from having to do that. "I don't want to try to explain it, and I don't have to, because magic ™

A dragonfly that makes no cool music but has big enough wings to go to the edge of the atmosphere plus said fusion ability?

@FoxElemental That's fine. Something to be aware of is that posting so many questions to Sandbox for basically all of your questions may induce reviewer fatigue where people just skip over your sandbox entries because there are so many of them. I'm not saying that's happening, just that it could.

Agreed. A full Sandbox is frightening . . . all those questions about questions . .
