Okay weird question, but if humans laid eggs--like the often thought of hard-shelled variety--what the heck shape would it be? I remember reading somewhere that motion and body type seem to have an effect on the shape, but I'm mostly familiar with birds' than anything else and haven't found much to really point me in the right direction entirely. Platypus eggs seem to be the closest approximate, but I don't know if being bipedal would affect anything or not...

hey there @Pleiades

I'm also not sure whether to start a draft for this in the Sandbox or not because it kind of feels a bit broad?
Hey @Shalvenay

and yeah, I think that a question about eggs for oviparious humanoid is a good one, considering that it'd apply to reptilian humanoids as well

Which is more or less why I'm asking but ehe it could apply to other people's projects too
I guess I'm writing up a draft then

go for it

PleiadesEgg Geometry--Shape of Eggs in Oviparous Humanoids Eggs are common enough that you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn't seen one. While birds' eggs are often thought of more frequently, a wide variety of eggs exist and are in use by various species around the world. However, something...

happy friday everyone!!

@AjnatorixZersolar What do you mean? Do you wish me a happy Friday, or mean that it is a 'happy Friday' whether I want it or not; or that you feel happy today; or that it is a Friday to be happy on?
;)

@Mithrandir24601 all of them at once, i suppose

@AjnatorixZersolar :D

Q: Pick 'n mix: How to fix

AnonymousI have a dilemma I've seen, both in other people's posts and in mine. Lots of people come up with lots of great, different ideas for solutions to different parts of the problem. But since no one person summarizes all of these subsets into one perfect solution, and no-one's solution "fragment" see...

@AndyD273? I have an important public service announcement...........

@AndyD273 what did you want to talk to him about?
or her.
Sorry.

Mostly about the question, since I wasn't sure if it was going to get reopened when I posted that

Turns out almost no bookstore has that "What is Magic?" book

@Efialtes It's nothing big. I was able to post my answer after your question got reopened. I was mostly curious what your thinking was concerning your world.
@Green On the internet it's probably best to just assume that everyone is a dog until you can verify otherwise.

@Secespitus Still funny
@Green Nice
The other day I made an omelette with leftover french fries and steak, threw in some veggies.
it was good.

4:26 PM
@Secespitus Assuming someone id a dog seems more happy than assuming they are a giant spider...

@James You fried French people?

@Bellerophon I think he means freedom fries

I mean I am racist to the French as much as the next Englishman but that seems a little extreme

Is French a race?

Countryist?

4:30 PM
Possibly classist, if you wanted to posit that Englishmen have more class than the French.

Are we making fun of the French? Awesome.
To be fair I am happy to make fun of the Germans, English and Mongols as well.

I mainly make fun of Americans.

@James I am amazed Americans know names of other countries :D

4:57 PM
@Secespitus Geography is fun!
I've always wanted to see if I can walk across Luxembourg in a single day...or Andorra doesn't really matter to me.
@Secespitus And for the record I know the names of all the other countries.

@James Every single one?

@Bellerophon Sure, you've got Little America (most anything smaller than the US), Cold America (Canada), Spicy America (Mexico), Strict America (Germany) Drunk America (Ireland), Sandy America (Saudi Arabia), Wet America (India)...I could keep going if you want.

@James You really know them all :D

AnonymousHyper-Coffee: How much caffiene could you fit into a roasted coffee bean (that will later be ground and steeped) while still having a strong coffee flavor? @Secespitus I forgot Old America (Greece), Pizza America (Italy), Boomerang America (Australia) and Sweaty America (Brazil)

Grandpa America (UK)?

@James yoyo-weather america (UK)

@AndyD273 Nice choice :D
@AjnatorixZersolar I'd have gone with Misty but that works.

6:01 PM
When the British complain about their weather...

...See this is good for the world. Sure its stupid and juvenile. But people need to be able to laugh at themselves.
Peace through mutual insults

@James if people can laugh at their own faults, they can learn to fix them

Yep

@James That's a good philosophy

I should write a book...

6:11 PM
How to insult each other

Each chapter title can be an insult to a different country.
Then the chapter mentions good and bad stuff about them.

@James This may only really work out if the country has a sense of humor... Germany for instance may have trouble.

It doesn't need to work on the whole population, just some people.

@James you could base it off the "two stars and a wish" idea

@AjnatorixZersolar Link or something? I'm not familiar.

6:17 PM
North Korea too... Though no one there will probably ever read it, so at least you don't have to worry about offending them.

@James two good things about something and one suggested improvement

@AndyD273 Offending people is kind of the point.
@AjnatorixZersolar Oh gotcha, I refer to that as the compliment sandwich.

@AndyD273 Did you just set Germany equal to North Korea in regards to humour?? :D

lol
see its working already.

@James I'd agree with you as long as they are sane or don't have nukes.

6:19 PM
@AndyD273 Eh...
you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette right?

@Secespitus Oh, they just lack a sense of humor in different ways.
I wanted to make a joke about one being a population that works all the time with no opportunities for fun, and the other being North Korea, but I don't actually know if that works, as my knowledge of German society is limited.
You really have to know something about a people to insult them effectively.

@AndyD273 which is a good thing.

You can't just go by the stereotypes, as attractive as that is.

May 12 '17 at 21:11, by Secespitus
@NexTerren "How many Germans does it take to change a light bulb?" "One. We are efficient and don't have humour."

@AjnatorixZersolar Oh I agree. It shows that James plan may be workable.

6:25 PM
@AndyD273 laughter relieves tension sometimes

Anyway, I am going to have to ask: if Cold War 2.0 is a thing already, what worldbuilding opportunities does it represent?

@FutureHistorian Lots of stuff. You're only limited by your imagination.

That makes sense.
But...you know: first, some historical context.
And some debate.
So, first thing is first: is Cold War 2.0 a thing today?
And if so, when do you consider it to have started?

Some people seem to be trying to make it a thing. It started when Hillary lost the election.
And couldn't admit it was her own fault
So she started blaming the Russians for hacking her, despite the fact that more evidence points to it being an inside job.

6:39 PM
@AndyD273. I have to admit, it is less about the 2016 US presidential elections and likely predates the current political polarisation in the States.
I say that it likely started in 13 December, 2001.
The US leaves the ABM Treaty under the Bush Administration.

You almost never heard anything about Russia being someone we should be mad at before the last election. Maybe a little more toward the end of the Obama presidency

Though its roots could be dated back to 1999, when Vladimir Putin took power in the Russian Federation.
@AndyD273. That is because we never noticed.
But the earliest signs trace back to Bush leaving the ABM Treaty.

If we don't notice, it's not a cold war

Afterwards, Russia decided to be like: "If America is going to leave the ABM Treaty, we might as well consider making IRBMs a thing again".
So, they violated the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, which the Americans certainly did not like.
And then 2008 happened with both the Great Recession of 2008 and the Russo-Georgian War.
Of course, the tension did not become apparent until Euromaidan in 2013 and the Ukrainian Revolution of 2014.
And the Crimean Crisis.
So, @AndyD273. Although we never noticed the tension as a populace, the tension could be traced back to the immediate aftermath of 9/11.

If it makes you happy

6:44 PM
And right now, as it stands, arms control treaties are being thrown out the window.
@AndyD273. Look. I am not debating this from a public perspective.
I am debating this in the context of events that could possibly be traced to the factors that created the current tension.
And to make matters worse, unlike the First Cold War, there is a third belligerent.
China.
So, really. That being said, what could we expect as trends for the remainder of the 21st Century with this Second Cold War in mind?

@James Could you move the comments on this question to chat? Their debate is getting long.

A: What materials would we need to have melee weapons and body armor become the norm?

AndyD273You just need a material where the more force that is used against it, the stronger it gets. This material doesn't exist in the real world, but you can make it exist in yours, and it's manufacture is a trade secret that no one knows. You can make swords even more attractive by giving them some p...

^ Now that I look at it.
Anyway, no one has suggestions of how the Second Cold War could end up?

All things come to an end. Either the tension will end, or humanity will.
Maybe we just need to get in to a big insult match. Just leave Russia's mother out of it.

@AndyD273 Hah! My mom says this occassionally.

@Green Does she go for the whole royalty thing and do a hoity toity voice?

6:56 PM
@AndyD273 Not royalty but she does put on a very serious face.
