Hmm, I had an interesting thoughts. Does anyone have any SEDE queries to count the average number of upvotes for non-closed questions and answers by tag ?
In other words can we see which tags tend to have the most highly respected questions and answers?

@TimB Does this help? It's from this answer.

It's close
I modified it a bit, it now shows votescore (upvotes-downvotes) average per tag, only looks at tags with >10 questions
could do with something similar for answer score

Hey, what should I do here? I have really good reason to believe that the answer is really, really wrong, and I've downvoted it as such, and left a couple comments, but it's been really, really, really popular nonetheless. Normally, I wouldn't be too concerned about an answer I think is incorrect, but 1) This one is really popular, and 2) I asked about it in The h Bar, and at least one negative comment about Worldbuilding came out of it.
I'll be frank, I don't like many of the answers to that question, but I'm concerned about seeing that one at the top.
+61/-1 -> A potential problem.

HNQ?

Yep.

Is that article published in a reputable journal?

Not that I can tell. And it looks like it was written by a high schooler.
The paper, I mean.
The guy is not a scientist, and has not worked in the field. I mean, neither am I, but scientists have assured me that it is incorrect.

Not much we can do really. Look at the edit I've made

Well, that seems . . . effective. I'll be interested to hear the response - after all, Thucydides didn't assume (at least not in the comments) that the paper was right, and was open to it being challenged.

indeed
In worldbuilding questions about death are nearly twice as popular as ones about blood

That's kind of disappointing. Vampires used to be popular in the world of teen paranormal romance fantasy novels.
Apocalypse questions are going decently well, although not as well as ones about death.

Q: What is the story of Worldbuilding's beginnings

MikeyI hear moderator candidates talking about being around since it was on Area 51, etc. What's the story of WB's start, its naming, and its earliest definition(s)?

Not “round” like it is now, but round — perfectly round. What would happen? Continue reading on Medium »

Q: What to do about well received answers that don't answer the question, when the "correctness" of an answer is quite subjective?

rg255Recently on biology SE there was a question evolutionary biology which generated a lot of interest. Often these sorts of questions attract a lot of opinionated and flawed answers, and answers that don't actually (attempt) to answer the question. Unfortunately they generally get well upvoted becau...

Hey, all -- the latest blog post is the first in an intended series of "what if" posts. Our thinking is that for topics that don't work well as Q&A but that are interesting, we can use the blog to explore them. There's one more in the queue right now (what if the moon was another earth, i.e. binary planets).

We'd love to see more people contributing to this series! Everybody will have a slightly different style and be interested in different topics, so this is a good way to get a range of content and perspectives. Interested? Let us know in the blog chat room.

Q: Risk Factor definition: Too Individual

Tim BAs the Risk Factor identified as most important by this post I'm starting a discussion on Too Individual. Please start answers to this question discussing each of the examples, adding more examples, and discussing just where to draw the line. Once we've reached a consensus and updated the descri...

I like Character Based as the name for Too individual
good suggestion from @Mourdos

Personally, Santa is Satan falls under 'is plot based' for me, rather than 'about a character'
The second line of the question is literally asking for a backstory of a character.

yeah, backstory of a world leader/god/pantheon/etc is worldbuilding though

I'm not sure that the backstory is.

you can't create a pantheon without a backstory for that pantheon ...

9:30 PM
The impact they have is, but saying why?

in fact often the backstory for the pantheon involves the creation story for the entire world

Yes, but I don't think that a question that asks why the gods might have created the world would be on topic.
It is an open ended story element
What I'm getting at is that I don't object to helping refine backstories for leaders/gods
I do object to 'make one up for me'

ok, it's a fair point
feel free to add it to the answer as an off topic reason
I repeat my previous call for more examples please - in particular examples that are off topic
since currently I'm arguing that all the questions are on topic (for this risk factor)

thats the problem, I felt my objection wasn't about that it was a bout a character, but that it was a request for plot.
Its a line we have to draw somewhere, and I think that 'why is this person like this' is not on topic. The only historical figure questions we should allow should be about how they have shaped the world. If we create backstory, we violate our own no plot rules.
I agree its wonderful fun, but it is plot.
That is the main problem I have with this format :{ Reasons for ya or nay are supposed to be based on the risk factor.

@MonicaCellio Thanks, that's helpful,
This is the one time when I wish SE was a forum and I could write a proper rebuttal. But I think that would be extremely unwise.
