So'd they offer you the job then @Mourdos?
(I know you won't see this for hours but you can reply when you do :p )
@overactor Lol, you have the power :p. In fact I think I'd get the badge if you accepted his and then switched the acceptance afterwards. Not really worth gaming the system for the sake of a badge though :) Accept the answer you want to accept.

@TimB yes

Its 2pm here and I've been awake for 6 hours

Lot of good data here on the location and sleeping habits of Worldbuilding.SE members. :D

lol

Eh. Most of them fall under "Regular person"

someone should make a graph

1:09 PM
Meta question: Tell us your sleeping habits, we want to make a graph

On sunday morning there's an optional tour of google and trip to the google store
they already gave me 2 free t-shirts and a free hoodie though
most of the events are actually here in San Jose not over at Google HQ

@TimB Can't risk you seeing the alien advisors walking the halls

indeed

This worries me.

Q: Human/alien breeding generating an alien

Rodolfo DiasI hope my question isn't too vague or broad. It's a follow-up to this one. So, we have a human (genetically modified in order to support life on another place, from previous question) on an alien world - specifically a male human. Assuming that nothing on his sexual organs has been changed, is i...

I don't think it should have the science-based tag
based on the answer
or some of the answers are wrong
I'm mostly thinking about @TimB 's answer

my answer is science based...

1:17 PM
Most of it seems psudo or speculative.

well speculative true

Science-based means hard science

not-disproved-by-science-as-we-know-it might be better than science-based for that answer

I think the science based tag needs removal, or I need to go downvote two answers.
Based on the question, I think its the tag in error

maybe we need a scientifically-plausible tag :)

1:20 PM
does do that?
The tag asks if the question is realistic
how close is realistic to plausible? I'm tempted to suggest a re-branding of reality in the tag wiki and tag name to plausibility/plausible
Hm, not quite the same

no I think it's different from reality-check
reality check is saying "I plan to do this, is it possible"
"science-based" and "science-plausible" say I want answers rooted in science
and "I want answers not disproved by science"

I think everything we do here is by default is based on plausibility
All our answers have to make sense in the context of the question asked.
Otherwise, they arn't answering the question. The base state of answers is plausible, hard-science and reality-check modify that
and the magic tag tends allows answers that are not plausible, same spectrum, different direction

1:54 PM
I think logical thought covers the magic side and some of the more...what if scenarios. I.e. "How would X develop in 'scenario'" There isn't necessarily a right answer as we have discussed, but you can come up with plausible scenarios.
(also, morning)

It was more that someone uses hard-science in a question about how aliens might mate with humans.
Morning

2:16 PM
I think the answers are science based in that they are offering ways to achieve the desired effect that are possible with science as we know it. For example quite a few insects are capable of asexual reproduction if no males are around. It's possible (if not likely) that a human male could stimulate that process in some way even if not providing genetic material...ant answer is going to be fairly far-fetched though so you're probably right and science-based should be removed

@DannyReagan Thats all you are getting from me today on the moon.

@Mourdos Remember, if you wake up one morning and the moon is gone, it is entirely your fault. :P

Have a picture you glorious **

A: What do we get if we eat the moon?

MourdosThe volume of the moon is 10^10 * 2.1958 km3, its mass is 10^24 * 0.07342 kg Surface Crust Composition Scientists have samples of the lunar crust and take measurements of properties of the Moon's surface. The crust consists of 43% oxygen, 20% silicon, 19% magnesium, 10% iron, 3% calcium, 3% ...

2:35 PM
@Mourdos Pictures are the secret to well-received answers
Well. Actually being a useful answer doesn't hurt either

^_^

2:47 PM
Well, you are welcome. I now know more than I needed to about the moon.

@Mourdos Knowledge is power, my friend. Guard it well

Also, I edited something correct into something wrong.
Gah
Whoot, voted to keep a question closed.

Q: Today we fell off the first page of 'Hottest proposals' at Area 51 is there anything we can do to get back on there?

bowlturnerI just noticed we have fallen off the first page of 'Hottest Proposals' at Area 51. We've been slowly sinking down the list for a week or more, yesterday we were at the bottom. Is there anything we can do to 'get hot' again? I think being on the first page especially near the top helps us out.

1 hour later…
5:55 PM
Three questions in the HNQ today. Excellent stuff, everyone
