Hello @Stephie and @Cerberus. Do you remember last year when you helped translate some old documents relating to my mother?
well, it turns out that they can (and indeed have) provided high-resolution scans of the documents
so I'm enlisting you for translation services again :D

1 hour later…

@ElendilTheTall I’m in!
Good to hear from you again, how’s life?
Just need a way to get the file to you
@Stephie oh, it carries on as usual, you?
@ElendilTheTall Crazy on so many levels. But there are good things, too.
@ElendilTheTall Still have my mail address?
I think I do somewhere
If not, I can ping you on the one I have. (Provided it’s still valid - sc…@gmail…) or you could give me permission to access it in your profile.
the one I have starts s_ and has your surname
17:50
Correct.
ok, bear with me one sec :)
No rush. I am on the road right now.
sent :)
so, why crazy?
we went to Copenhagen earlier this year, it was wonderful. Those Danes can bake
Read the latest news re. job cuts in the automotive industry?
I haven't, but... ouch?

I spend about a third of my time searching for every budget / project Euro I can find, another third calming down my nervous employees and the rest, hopefully, for my daily tasks.
fun
i thought you were going to say you'd been made redundant
Of course the cuts can happen for my own position. But then I’’d probably take the severance package.
@ElendilTheTall not yet. But I am doing the job of a line manager, but without the promotion and without the required access rights etc. But my team loves me.
you bring in baked goods, right? :D
Sometimes.
But I have teams in three locations, working a significant percentage from home.
My job title could also be “traveling circus act”.
What’s going on on your side of the Channel?
well, it looks like we might finally be rid of the Conservatives for a while
our mighty football team faces off against some puny Sunday-league side on Friday night, apparently
continuing in the ancestry vein, I recently found out that my great grandmother was Scottish, and grew up in a little village I've driven through dozens of times since moving to Scotland
<ciiiiiircle of life>

@ElendilTheTall Awwww!

@ElendilTheTall <sigh> You may have a point here.
@ElendilTheTall How are the kids?
yeah, they're fine
yours?
Minor 1 has just two more weeks of school left.
Minor 2 picked their main subjects for the last two years. (German/Literature, English, Social Studies)
EEK
they keep growing despite our entreaties to the contrary eh
18:36
Scary.
OTOH, remember being free to go out, possibly spend the night somewhere, spontaneously? We’ve reached that stage.
We reached that stage by having my inlaws move in with us :D
With the right inlaws… congrats!
