6:35 AM
Too many small kitchen appliances can be beneficial

7:20 AM
You are not bound in what you eat at breakfast, actually - you can eat the leftovers from last night's dinner, for example. It might be unusual for you, but there will be no breakfast police to come arrest you.
I will share what my mother made for me during highschool, when she had to first rise to prepare something, then wake me up at 5:45:
The evening before, she would take two slices of bread (sufficiently large slices of real bread, not small toast bread or similar)
put butter on them
crumble 100 g of feta cheese
mix 2 eggs with the feta cheese
put the mixture on the bread
then put in the fridge.
(I am not entirely sure if she always put it on the evening after, or on the morning - the butter prevents seeping of the egg into the bread somewhat, but maybe not sufficiently when sitting overnight)
and in the morning, she would bake it in a toaster oven with the heating elements close to the eggs - for our oven, this was 8 minutes
it's pretty satiating, and you have almost no work in the morning other than sticking something in the oven and waiting.

7:36 AM
@rumtscho We're adults. I have had days where I have ice cream for breakfast :D

@JourneymanGeek In my eyes, that's an appropriate breakfast!
say do you happen to know, if LinkedIn says somebody is my 2nd contact, how to find out who our common contact is?

@rumtscho uhhh
I don't use linkedin much lol
@hanugm leftovers - planned leftovers are a good idea

7:59 AM
@Stephie We eat Idly, Dosa, Puri, Upma etc., but total different is okay for me. (need to be available in India). But don't want a readymade food like bread etc., Overnight oats seems good for me. So, I am asking questions in our main site regarding it.

I have refrigirator, stove, pressure cooker, induction cooker, vessels.

lol
Idly is very good left over
Upma is too

@rumtscho I don't have oven :( no idea to plan also, because my kitchen is very small. (in an university quarter).
@Stephie if possible, can you please share any video or article you know to prepare overnight oats quickly.
@JourneymanGeek Yeah, but when do i need to cook them? I just eat fruits for dinner.

@hanugm cook more than you need, then stick em in the fridge
then warm em up in a fry pan with some oil :D

@hanugm when I say "toaster oven" I mean this appliance:
it is about 30 cm wide and 10 cm high
you can of course simply cook something the evening before on the induction cooker or in the pressure cooker, stick it in the fridge, then eat it cold the next morning, or warm it over

@JourneymanGeek are you saying to cook them a single day and use them for following few days?

8:09 AM
there are no ways to prepare overnight oats quickly - the whole point of them is that they take the whole night

@hanugm yes
I suspect they might even freeze well

@hanugm that's how my family has always managed meals
nothing my mother cooked has ever been intended to last for less than 3 days

@hanugm Oats (Müsli will also work) + liquid of your choice (many use milk, I like apple juice because it’s an extra fruity kick). Leave overnight, top with your choice of fruit, yogurt, maybe nuts/seeds, maybe honey or sugar.

@rumtscho Yeah, the act of storing seems good... I am willing to try your bread idea. But not sure whether Idly can be stored for at-least 2 days.

Hands-on time about two minutes in the evening (including putting away the oats jar), five in the morning if I’m chopping fruit.
@hanugm cooked food in the refrigerator is at least safe for two to three days.

8:14 AM
@Stephie it will be safe - but isn't idly fermented? Fermented food frequently gets icky if left too long.

@Stephie Oh! Oats seems apt for me.

Yeah, may be its very rare to store breakfast in my country. So, I am learning now...

@rumtscho Depends on whether the steaming is enough to stop fermentation?
@hanugm you probably could experiment with savory oats, if you for example use soup as liquid. Then top it with leftover veggies from the day before?

@Stephie now that you are here anyway, may I misuse you as a source of good German for a sentence?

Sure.

"Nach Auslieferung der Software war Frau P. auch für die Dissemination verantwortlich - sie war Koauthorin einer wissenschaftlichen Publikation, hat die Software auf Konferenzen vorgestellt, und einzelne Benutzer in der Anwendung gecoacht"
It is correct, but I don' tlike the word (and maybe also structure) choice in several places
"Dissemination" is not what I want to say
I had multiple variations of "war Koauthorin", liked none of them

8:23 AM
Uh, yeah. I see.

and "einzelne Benutzer gecoacht" sounds strange, beside the Denglish

@Stephie Okay, i will learn them and do...

I will follow this as early as possbile...

ats (Müsli will also work) + liquid of your choice (many use milk, I like apple juice because it’s an extra fruity kick). Leave overnight, top with your choice of fruit, yogurt, maybe nuts/seeds, maybe honey or sugar.

The point of it is to make the impression "I wasn't just a coder, I've been working hard to make sure people know about our software and use it"

@Stephie Which oats I can use among these? amazon.in/gp/bestsellers/grocery/4859544031

@rumtscho let me think about it and get back to you. Am en route to the farmers market.

8:26 AM
@Stephie sure! I wish you good finds at the market!
@hanugm To inspire you: I'm just having breakfast now
It is coked white rice with honey, butter, cinnamon, and honeydew melon
admittedly, cooking rice is very hands-off for me, because I have an Instant Pot
but you can cook the rice and cube the melon the evening before
if you do that, you have to add the butter and honey and cinnamon while it's still warm, then refrigerate, else you'll get clumps if adding the stuff to cold rice
instead of honey (and/or melon) you can use any kind of jam or preserve.

@rumtscho yes, don't write "Dissemination"; it's only used for bad things like an epidemic

@FadedGiant I think one of my problems is that, in the minds of many techies, PR is also a bad thing - even though they absolutely need it and their jobs depend on it being done.

You might want to consider reordering the list, from small to big things.

8:42 AM
@rumtscho Okay, It will be my future assignment. :)

"Nach dem Rollout hat Frau P: auch wesentlich zur Verbreitung der Software unter den Benutzern beigetragen, durch Präsentationen auf wissenschaftlichen Konferenzen, persönlicher Unterstützung von Key Users, und als Koauthorin eines wissenschaftlichen Beitrags2
@FadedGiant this sounds better to me, how do you find it?
I hope "Verbreitung unter" is also not too epidemic-like :)

That's better. Maybe skip the "unter den Benutzern" if she was able to find even more new users (not just already existing users).
@rumtscho and it's Koautorin – without the h in German

@FadedGiant thanks, corrected (both the h and the "unter den Benutzern")

9:22 AM
@hanugm I'm a sterotype but curd rice is a good breakfast :D

9:34 AM
@JourneymanGeek I don't know Indian stereotypes - what is curd rice?
do you mean you stir yogurt into rice?

@rumtscho pretty much
unsweetened, and we typically have it with pickles
a certain cultural group is slightly infamous for their love of it :D

I cooked more rice than I needed for breakfast, maybe I should try it later in the day as a snack
no pickles for me though, I hate them
and also I had risotto rice on hand, so it won't be especially authentic

well and/or other things
we sometimes do toppings like ginger chilli and curry leaves
Curd rice also called yogurt rice, is a dish originating from India. The word "curd" in Indian English refers to unsweetened probiotic yogurt. It is most popular in the Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. In the state of Tamil Nadu it is called thayir saadam, and in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh it is called perugannam/daddojanam. In Karnataka, it is called mosaranna. The dish is a staple of traditional cuisine, with the untempered version present at the end of almost every south indian meal. The tempered version is often served during formal occasions and also offered...

@JourneymanGeek the closest I can come to that with things I have lying around at home is rice + yoghurt + dried ginger powder.
I am now imagining your mother chasing me out of the kitchen with a ladle

eh
there's nearly no rules to curd rice. Other than Curd + Rice
I know someone who ADDS BUTTER

10:23 AM
@hanugm just pick something without added flavors or milk powder or so - plain rolled oats will do. Don’t buy steel-cut oats, because they definitely need cooking and quite a long time to soften. Whether you chose the coarser rolled oats or the smaller quick-cooking oats is a matter of taste, but I personally think the coarser ones are better for overnight oats.

Q: Difference between old fashioned and quick oats?

SarahVVWhat are the difference between old fashioned and quick oats? Can they be substituted for one another in recipes?

When you are cooking artichokes, remember to break off the stem instead of cutting it, to pull out the tough fibers from the bottom.

4:43 PM
I have never cooked artichokes, but that's helpful advice!

6:52 PM
@Jolenealaska I promised:

user15026
Oh gosh. How sweet!

One more week!
Only two things missing: A lightweight leash and a bed. Both will be temporary and small, to be replaced with better and more permanent stuff later.
