8:00 PM
Pretty cute indeed

Jay
@ElendilTheTall i dont know. whats why i said i dont know if shes your type
she has a small head though haha. not that, that really matters

@rumtscho Ok, done.

@jay you know what they say: small head, erm, small... Brain

Jay
@ElendilTheTall lol maybe but shes pretty smart
for the most part lol

@Aaronut Did you really mean the "false friends" link to go to the old US/UK question?

Jay
8:01 PM
i think everyone say stupid things once in a while

Doesn't make that much sense, as I have linked to this question in the sentence before it. Maybe you wanted to link to the Wikipedia definition?

@rumtscho I have no idea what you're talking about...... ;)

Jay
@ElendilTheTall And here is my other roommates. He's the big beefy guy... hehe he might be more your type maybe?

@Aaronut this link points to the Translating between... question, which is also linked above.

@rumtscho You really don't get jokes, do you?

8:04 PM
@jay how much money does he have?

@Aaronut Not every time, obviously.

Jay
@ElendilTheTall lol really...
you would sell yourself out for some money

@rumtscho Did the wink smiley not give it away?

@Aaronut Not this time, I was still concentrated in "serious" mode I guess.
Smiles are so overused by other people that they are somewhat devalued as actual joke sign.

sigh... I'm sure you'll get it... eventually.

8:06 PM
I got it now.
After you said there is a joke to get.
I admit, it was rather late.

Jay
wait theres a joke

Note to self: Do not tell jokes when vacationing in Germany.

@jay not 'some' - loads

Wait, why can't I see the edit?

@Jay Why does he have a bag that says "barf" on it?

8:08 PM
I am quite sure it used to point to the other question.

Jay
im so confused right now, what are we looking at

That's BASF

Jay
ooo my roommate picture

@rumtscho Yes, that stealthiness was obviously part of the wink.

@Aaronut lol, I wonder if their marketing guys know about it.

Jay
8:09 PM
@Aaronut not sure he was studying above in Germany somehwere

@Aaronut yes, but I wonder how you made the edit without leaving a trace in the history.

Jay
must be some organization of something

@ElendilTheTall Oh yeah, I remember them, didn't they go out of business like 15 years ago?

@jay it is a big company.

@rumtscho 5 minute window.

8:10 PM
@Aaronut why should they? Chem companies seem to have been doing well in the last decades.
@Aaronut OK, I didn't know about that one.

@rumtscho Are they a chem company? I thought they made cassette tapes or something.

Jay
my roomate is a chem engineering student

Ah, I know what you mean now. They are mainly chemicals, and yes, they make disposable storage media too. I have CD-Rs by them.

@Jay Yes, you can tell that he's some sort of engineer by the way he wears his pass around his neck.

@aaronut they made over €6 billion profit last year

8:12 PM
BASF SE is the largest diversified chemical company in the world and is headquartered in Germany. BASF originally stood for Badische Anilin- und Soda-Fabrik (). Today, the four letters are a registered trademark and the company is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, London Stock Exchange, and Zurich Stock Exchange. The company delisted its ADR from the New York Stock Exchange in September 2007. The BASF Group comprises subsidiaries and joint ventures in more than 80 countries and operates six integrated production sites and 390 other production sites in Europe, Asia, Australia, Amer...

Jay
@Aaronut lol selective stereotyping

Heh, their main seat is in Ludwigshafen. I didn't know that.

Sorry, I'm nowhere near interested enough in the topic to follow a wiki link. It was a 10-second disposable joke.

Ludwigshafen is part of my metro area, maybe 40 min from here.

@Jay Stereotyping, yes. Selective, no. This is coming from an engineering graduate.

Jay
8:14 PM
Oh cool so my roommate wasnt too far from you when he was in Germany

OK, where do non-engineers wear their name plate?

@Jay Hahaha. "Oh, you're from Germany? Do you know Klaus?"

Jay
@Aaronut yes maybe some of them wear the lanyard pass around his neck but i think more engineer dont, then do

@rumtscho Generally on their belts, or in their pockets.

I tend to clip mine on my belt, because I am not so happy when the big boys have an excuse to stare down my cleavage.

Jay
8:15 PM
God why do weekend always turn out les productive then a weekday ><
@rumtscho hah who says anyone wants to?

@Jay because they are for relaxation?

@Jay Let me take a wild guess... because you spend them in chat rooms?

Jay
@Aaronut nah only been here like 30 minutes

@Jay Oh, they do. They used the excuse before I changed my strategy.

Jay
@rumtscho lol i was only messing with you

8:17 PM
@Aaronut Your explanation doesn't fit the observations. He spends more time in chatrooms on weekdays.

@Jay Which is, coincidentally, about how long it took to complain about not being productive.

Jay
@Aaronut nah takes way less

@rumtscho Who said his weekdays were productive?

@Aaronut He said they are more productive than his weekends. So absolute productivity is not so relevant.

Note to self: Do not tell jokes when vacationing in Germany.

8:21 PM
Note to self Try to find some Canadian humour, to see where the differences are.
I mostly get Elendil's British humour, actually.

It's the way i tell 'em

Jay
@ElendilTheTall its how it comes out of his mouth

Guy goes to his doctor with a steering wheel sticking out of his pants. The doc says 'what's wrong with you?!'. The guy says 'I don't know, but its driving me nuts!'

:D

Wow, that's... old. I mean, it was originally a nautical joke.

8:27 PM
Mien liked it :P

I like the accent.

It's supposed to be done in a pirate voice.

William Shakespeare goes into a pub, the landlord catches sight of him and says 'get out, you're bard!'
@aaronut no it's not :P

groan
Puns are the lowest form of humour.

Blah blah blah
I'm on an iPhone, i can't type epic yarns
Rabbi Rosenstein is getting on a bit, and decides he wants to try pork once before he dies. So he finds a restaurant 2 towns over and orders suckling pig

8:34 PM
Those who care, come over to the health-salt channel, want to ask something

The waiter brings it out on a silver platter, glistening beautifully with an apple in its mouth.
Just as he's about to tuck in, a member of his community walks in. ' rabbi!' he cries, 'what are you doing?!'
'this place!' cries the rabbi 'i order a baked apple, look how they serve it!'

Haha. Better. ;)

Guy goes to the doctor, in terrible agony. The doc says 'do you masturbate?'. The guy says 'well, yes'. The doc says 'great isn't it?!'

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention, I've been trying to get my lazy cat to notice a very fast and oddly excitable spider.
That was OK, though.

Oh, you've got a cat!
Does it have a name?
And do you have a picture of it?

8:48 PM
Nope, I was supposed to give it a name? Hmm.

No, just asking.

Well, since I seem to have lost track of the spider, I might as well go dig up a picture.

Jay
@Mien im pretty sure he was being sarcastic

@Jay About the name, yes, not about the cat or the spider.

Jay
what kinda cat is she/he?

8:52 PM
It looks like a soft kitty.

He normally loves to chase bugs, but once he gets in my lap he goes into hibernation mode and it's impossible to rouse him for anything other than treats/food.

And ginger.

@Jay Siamese

Jay
oh

@Mien Ginger as in sprightly or ginger as in the creepy red hair and freckles?

8:54 PM
Red headed.
No soul etc.

@Mien Well, he does like to stare, intently and unyielding.

I knew it!

But, that's usually only when he wants something. Apparently that's supposed to make it come faster.

I'm not sure it's ginger-related.
Mine does so too.

The photo sort of exaggerates the red/brown, and the vacant stare. He's just a color-point.
There's a better one, colour-wise.

9:02 PM
It's almost white here.

Are you referring to the photo, or your own?

I meant the second photo.

Ah. Well yes, it's supposed to be, he is mainly white except for the face and ears (and tail). The first photo is more highly saturated for some reason.

He appears to like a drop of the black stuff

I just saw it as well. Do you celebrate St Patricks Day? Or you're just a Guinness fan?

9:14 PM
He does have strange tastes, including pica. As for St. Pat's - sometimes.

Pica = he eats non-edible stuff?

Carpet fibers, threads, scratching post debris, that sort of thing. Fortunately not large stuff like pennies or paper clips.

Hehe, cats tend to have some weird eating habits.

Jay
@Aaronut hmmm good vacuum cleaner... i should get a cat

@Jay Are you allowed to have one?

9:37 PM
@Jay It's not all fun and games... every pet that I or my family has ever had has ended up with some kind of medical problem.
I wouldn't really advise getting a pet to a student or anyone else with no disposable income.
Besides, you've got roommates, you don't need company.

1 hour later…
10:51 PM
@rumtscho waaaaay more patient that I

@rfusca I know.
But somehow I got involved and didn't want to cut him short.

shrug i don't think anybody is at risk of cutting short here

I also have the hope that someday he will understand how salt and chicken works, and notice if it is the salt or not.

there's just a fundamental misunderstanding of science that's really causing the issue
basic things like osmosis and such
and somehow if the chicken is moist and delicious, he's equated that with more salt penetration

Yes, I had the feeling that he still thinks that somehow salty water is sucked into the chicken sometimes.

10:54 PM
nod
@rum btw, did my answer on your japanese vs german knives q make sense?

@rfusca Yes, but I found some more info, want to read it through.

k

I am somewhat slow with accepting, I noticed, because I forget older questions. So I went through my record today and accepted 7 of the older ones.
Pushed my rate from 55% to 68%.

@rumtscho ya, i'm slow to accept too
nice
