A: Is It Possible To Make Titles Optional?

carlcsIf you set the title format to a string like "Note" in the channel's field layout, all your entries would be given this exact name. The entry slug will be saved prefixed: "note-1", "note-2", etc. If you don't want them all to be named the same, you could add a date to it: Note ({{ 'now'|date('Y...

This appears to be a great answer but I can't seem to get it to work. My notes entry type is 3, so I've tried: Note ({{ now|date('Y-m-d') }} - {{ craft.entries.type(3).order(id).last().id + 1 }}) but think I'm going wrong somewhere?
@shane see my edit. What doesn't work for you? Is nothing added to the "Note" string or what happens? And why are you using entry types for it? Is this notes mixed with other (blog) entries or are you trying to get by with a personal license?
It does not all me to save when I try to write the note. Yes it is mixed with other entries as Brandon said I would be fine with just the personal license.
@shane there was a typo in my syntax.
Note ({{ 'now'|date('Y-m-d') }} - {{ craft.entries.type('3').order('id').last().id + 1 }})should work. but it still isn't tested that well and even my last edit has the same problems as using 'now' has when you make edits to the entry :( damn...
Hmm that is still giving "can't save entry". It is definitely the kind of thing I'm looking for though!

That's strange because I have a fresh install here, also with a personal license still and it works good for me (minus the little problems)!
Hey, sorry I wasn't looking!
I currently have: Note ({{ 'now'|date('Y-m-d') }} - {{ craft.entries.type('3').order('id').last().id + 1 }})
Which appears to be the same as you
np hey shane.
yeah thats strange.
Remove that type('3') as a parameter, because you'd still have other entries increase your ids...
Ah that is a good pont
*point
shouldn't cause your error though
Says 'title cannot be blank'
But it should be autogenerated

did you try {{ 'now'|date('Y-m-d') }} alone.
Same problem... seems odd.
you shire you enter the code in the right CP form?
does the description say
What the auto-generated entry titles should look like. You can include tags that output entry properties, such as {myCustomField}.
and "Show title fields" is disabled
Yeah but I just tried going into entries and it worked. So wondering if the problem is actually with the quick posts widget (it is set to the correct type)
ohhh damn
thats what i actually wanted to ask you first :)
ok, but then i can't help you. sorry!
Ok no problem, thanks a lot!
